KitHub · Changelog
KitHub
v7.5.5 October 2026
Ctrl+Z undoes, across KitHub; and your planner in your colours.
- Undo and redo everywhere: Ctrl+Z (⌘Z) and Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y. Deleting anything offers Undo; in KitPlan everything on the planner and in to-dos can be undone.
- KitPlan: habit reminders on the weekdays you choose; Amazon packages kept as reminders, and a carrier you can choose for a number EasyPost cannot place.
- KitDB: a to-do list on each project (dated ones in KitPlan); what you had open stays open across tabs and projects; lane descriptions in a line and in full; a friendlier, centred card editor. Folders inside projects, with icons; drag things into them (hold and drag on a phone), or use Move to folder from any item’s ⋯, now in the sidebar too. KitPlan: search your email for any days you choose and pick packages out of it.
- KitPlan 1.4: colours for anything on the plan, for whole lists, and for to-dos in no list; on a computer, drag a habit’s circle straight onto the timeline; and mark things done alongside work (💼).
v7.5.4 October 2026
Log what you did, planned or not, and see your day’s plan while you talk about it.
- KitPlan 1.3: ✓ I did something logs what happened on today or a day gone, with a time or without; on a phone, hold a thing on the timeline by a side to move it, or by the middle to change its start or end.
- KitJournal 1.2: the day’s plan from KitPlan is shown as you add a session for it.
- Notes for the day on anything in KitPlan’s planner (what workouts, what you read), asked for when you tick something done if you like, with links to anything in KitHub; your diary shows them all.
- Links in documents peek: a link in a note, a planner note or the diary opens over the page on a computer, the whole thing; on a phone it opens with a ‹ Back button to where you were.
- KitDB on a phone: a project opens on what is in it; the formatting bar stays pinned to the top as you write, and can be hidden.
- Each diary entry shows its day in KitPlan, at the times things were actually put on the planner.
- Import recordings into KitJournal’s Diary, each for its own past day, with photos.
- KitJournal’s warm-ups are part of the day’s session: answer a few, then the main part, all one session.
- Find an emoji everywhere one is chosen (KitPlan, KitDB’s icons, tab names in Customize tabs): a picker you can search by name or everyday words.
v7.5.3 October 2026
A better planner, and a diary that asks the right warm-up questions and looks back on each month by itself.
- KitPlan 1.2: anytime for a while; drag things around the timeline, and their edges to change a length; add at the half hour; mark things you didn’t do or take them off a day; block out time for work, repeating on weekdays.
- KitJournal 1.1: the Journal is never read by AI (Need a spark and Reflect on this are gone); warm-up questions with judgement, built from your last session; month recaps by themselves; it hears what you didn’t get to; a quill icon.
- Writing pages (KitJournal’s, KitDB’s notes) no longer show the floating + on a phone, and Tab types a tab in every big text box, in every app (KitDB 3.18.3: in all of its writing, not only Drafts).
- KitJournal entries link to each other by title ([[like this]]), and a KitDB note can link to one of yours by searching its title.
- KitPlan, KitTravel and KitJournal’s tabs can be reordered, renamed, hidden and given emoji, like the other apps’ (⋯ › Customize tabs).
v7.5.2 October 2026
- A clean-up, so KitHub can run for a long time on its own: nothing grows without end any more (what reminders were sent, KitTravel's look-ups, KitPlan's email finds, KitJournal's used questions), and every background job and query is safe if something goes wrong.
- KitPlan: type a to-do like “Call Joe today about billing”, “Renew passport by 10/20” or “Send the report EOW” and the day is marked as you type, then set as its day when you add it. To-do’s weeks now run Monday to Sunday, with a Next week section.
- The older apps had the same going-over: KitDB lets go of feed articles over two years old that nobody kept; KitFit’s dashboard line counts the day in your time zone; every answer from an outside service is read with a size limit, and no request to an app may send more than it could need.
- KitJournal 1.0.1: recordings show their whole length so you can skip around; sessions are titled and reflected on (however GreenPT shapes its answer) (a cut-off answer from GreenPT left some with nothing; those are thought over again after updating), recordings are written down (they went to the wrong address at GreenPT; none were lost, and ones that failed are tried again after updating), and the microphone works: KitHub had it turned off for all its pages, so the diary was refused before your browser could ask. Long recordings no longer slow the phone; iPhone recordings play back in Safari; typed words that could not be sent are kept; sessions put back from Recently deleted keep their recordings and photos.
v7.5.1 October 2026
- KitTravel 1.0.6: on phones, rows that scroll sideways (a trip’s tabs, Getting around, Things to do, districts, suggestions) now scroll properly, with nothing cut off.
v7.5.0 October 2026
KitJournal: a journal for writing whatever comes, and a diary you can talk to that thinks each day over with you.
- KitJournal, a twelfth app. Journal is a quiet page to write on, with Poem and Focus. Diary takes a spoken (or typed) session about your day, a past day or a dream, with questions waiting before you start.
- Each session is written down, titled, summarised and reflected on with your past sessions and calendar in mind, with follow-up questions and one-tap to-dos, events and reminders for KitPlan. Up to ten photos with each session.
- Your mood over the month, a look back at each month, and the notes it keeps on what matters to you, yours to change or forget. AI can be switched off, wholly or part by part; everything stays in your KitHub.
v7.4.5 October 2026
- KitTravel 1.0.5: no more stall coming back to the Trips tab: your own pictures are shown on cards as small copies, and cards off screen wait until you scroll to them.
v7.4.4 October 2026
- KitTravel 1.0.4: a trip is offered only its own bookings from your email: flights, stays, trains and cars in its dates, and tables and events only where the trip is (no more a friend's birthday party on a trip abroad). Opening KitTravel no longer catches: photos load as they come into view, decoded in the background.
v7.4.3 October 2026
- KitTravel 1.0.3: no more pause opening or leaving it: the map loads only when a trip needs it, and big pictures are screen-sized, not full-size originals.
- Rain when it rains: when it is raining where you are, rain falls across KitHub and every app, whatever the theme. Settings → Look and feel turns it off.
- Digests read evenly: points written under a heading point stay in their list (no stray “-” lines), long points carry on in one piece, and section labels look the same however they were written.
- KitTravel 1.0.3: every place has a thumbnail. KitPlan 1.1.3: a new email account starts with the last month.
v7.4.2 October 2026
- KitTunes 2.21: 🌍 Map, where your artists are from, as dots on a world map.
- KitTravel 1.0.2: the map can be put away on a computer; choosing a trip's picture no longer closes New trip; Someday's About is just the summary and facts.
v7.4.1 October 2026
- KitTravel 1.0.1: Someday places added without ideas open again, and each now shows what Wikipedia says about it: facts, history, and its picture.
v7.4.0 October 2026
KitTravel: trips planned day by day on a map, with Wikivoyage's guides, bookings, a shared budget, packing, and a Someday list of places to go.
- KitTravel, an eleventh app. Plan a trip day by day on a map, with travel times and the quickest order; explore the place's Wikivoyage guide with its photos; keep bookings (and add the ones found in your email); split costs in any currency; pack from a list.
- Someday: places you want to go one day, with a photo and a loose list of ideas, made into a trip when it is time.
- Trips and their bookings are on KitPlan's calendar and remind your phone before flights, trains, check-in and tables.
v7.3.0 October 2026
Weather on the dashboard with alerts on your phone, packages followed in KitPlan, and email that finally finds your bookings.
- Weather. Under the greeting: now, today and the next hours, and the week when tapped. National Weather Service alerts show there and reach your phone.
- Packages. KitPlan’s new Mail tab follows USPS, UPS and FedEx packages, from your shipping emails or pasted in, and tells your phone when one is out for delivery or delivered.
- Email, fixed. KitPlan now reads all your mail (not just the inbox) going back a year, understands both ways senders mark up bookings, and shows what it read and why.
- Calendar filters are one tidy list with a switch and Only for each kind.
v7.2.0 October 2026
What reaches your phone is now one line per habit, event and birthday, and KitHub tells you on your phone when it brings something new.
- What reaches your phone, grouped. Settings → Notifications shows each thing once (a habit, an event, a due date, a birthday) with when it goes, grouped by kind, instead of a long list of days. Tap one to see every time it will go.
- Updates on your phone. When an update brings something new, everyone gets one notification saying what. Fixes stay quiet.
v7.1.0 October 2026
Settings in groups, and one place to see everything that will reach your phone.
- What reaches your phone. Settings → Notifications lists every reminder the apps will send you over the next two weeks, by day and time, with those already sent dimmed. Narrow it to one app, or tap one to open it.
- Settings in groups. Look and feel, Notifications, You and this device, People, Backups and storage, Help and apps. On a computer, choose one from the left; on a phone, from a list, with ‹ Settings to go back.
- KitTunes covers load. A cover chosen from other covers, or typed in, is now fetched once by KitHub and kept, so it no longer loads slowly or goes missing from the thumbnail.
v7.0.3 October 2026
- Going, in KitTunes. Mark a show you’re going to; only those go on your KitPlan calendar, instead of every show near you.
v7.0.2 October 2026
- Fixed: KitPlan showed, and reminded you of, cards from archived KitDB projects. It now leaves out archived projects, archived recipes, hidden titles and anything in the trash, and a removed email account takes its unread finds with it.
- Fixed: opening a KitDB card or a meal from KitPlan left the dock on KitPlan, with no way back to it. It now switches to that app’s tab.
v7.0.1 October 2026
- Fixed: KitPlan did not appear for either of you. Each of you had a list of apps saved when sign-in was set up, and a new app was not on it. The household now always has every app, including any added later.
v7.0.0 October 2026
KitPlan arrives: a calendar, to-dos, habits and a day planner for each of you, with every date the rest of KitHub knows, and reminders on your phone.
- KitPlan, the tenth app. Its calendar shows your own events and to-dos with birthdays, renewals, due dates, meals, Kitsta posts, nearby shows, releases you want, goal ends and holidays. Habits get HabitKit-style grids and a week you can fill in; the planner blocks out your day, and ticking anything ticks it everywhere.
- Due dates reach your phone. KitDB board cards and People actions with a due date are sent through ntfy at 8am the day before and on the day. KitPlan's to-dos and habits remind you at the time you choose.
- Tickets from your email. KitPlan can read Gmail, and Proton through Bridge, for tickets, bookings and invitations, and offers each to add.
- Reminders can come from any app, and arrive within five minutes of their time: the check runs every five minutes, not every hour. Fixed: only the first app with reminders was ever asked, so a second could never have sent any; one app failing no longer stops the others.
- Your private calendar feed now carries KitPlan's events, timed ones with their times.
- Goals can count to-dos ticked, days Today was cleared, planner blocks and hours, habits ticked, or any one habit, which only its owner is offered.
- KitCook, KitTunes, KitFlicks, KitGames and KitDB each tell KitPlan what they have on a date.
v6.32.2 October 2026
- Digests shows every digest at once: side by side in two or three columns on a computer, one under another on a phone, those needing attention first. Each card has its latest day, Read the full digest, and its earlier days under Earlier days. On a phone, the names along the top jump to a card.
v6.32.1 October 2026
- Digests now has its own tab, between Dashboard and Goals, instead of a section on the dashboard: a small tab for each digest, the ones needing attention first and marked; the chosen one’s latest day, then its earlier days. Days read Today, Yesterday or a short date, and tables in a digest are drawn as tables.
- Someone with no digest switched on has no Digests tab at all, and it no longer appears in Customize.
- On a phone the header keeps to one line again: Digests and Recently deleted show as icons there.
- Calendar feeds allow 30 fetches an hour per feed (it was 12), so a phone and a computer both refreshing often are never refused.
- Fixed: an update could stop at “randToken redeclared”: KitDB’s old
oidc.go, removed in 6.27.0, was still on the server, since unzipping never deletes anything.update.shnow removes every Go file the release does not list (deploy/GOFILES). - The dashboard’s footnote no longer talks about a password per app.
v6.32.0 October 2026
Your daily digests now have a home on the dashboard: one tab per digest, today’s headline and summary at a glance, and earlier days a tap away.
- The Digests tab. When this KitHub is set up with a digest token, the home server posts each day’s digests; the dashboard gets a Digests section with one sub-tab per digest. Each shows today’s headline, an attention marker when something needs you, and the summary, with earlier days listed by date and the full digest one tap away.
- You choose who sees which. Settings → People and access ticks each digest for each person. You see them all; anyone with none ticked has no Digests tab at all, and the server checks again on every read.
- Kept sealed, and only so long. The titles, headlines and text are stored encrypted, and days older than 120 are dropped by the daily upkeep — the home server keeps its own copy.
- If Cloudflare challenges the home server when it posts, a WAF skip rule for
/api/hub/digestslets it through.
v6.31.0 October 2026
Your birthdays, renewals and plans in the calendar app you already use, from a private link that shows only yours.
- A private calendar link. Settings → Calendar makes a link you add to your phone or computer’s calendar app. It fills with your own birthdays, anniversaries, subscription renewals, the meal plans you can see and your goal dates. Nobody else’s items appear, and the link itself is shown only once, when you make it.
- Make a new link, or turn it off. A new link stops the old one at once; turning it off ends it. A link also stops working if its owner is blocked or loses access to KitHub.
- On an iPhone the Subscribe button adds it in one step; elsewhere, copy the link into your calendar app. It refreshes at least once a day.
- If Cloudflare challenges your calendar app, a WAF skip rule for
/api/hub/calendar/lets it through.
v6.30.1 October 2026
- A topic for phone reminders now copes with a first name that has a space or an accent: “Mary Jane” becomes
kh-mary-jane. - Settings has a contents list to jump between its parts, on a computer and on a phone.
- People and access says what adding someone’s phone reminders needs on the server, and a Set up your phone panel gives the Android and iOS steps.
v6.30.0 October 2026
Reminders come to your phone: birthdays, anniversaries and renewals, once, on the day.
- Reminders by notification. When this KitHub is set up with ntfy, KitDB sends each person their due birthdays, anniversaries, subscription renewals and the yearly review to their own phone, once each, on the day. While ntfy is set up, the browser banner stops, so you are not told twice.
- Your own time zone. Settings → Notifications sets the zone whose day your reminders use; it defaults to America/Phoenix.
- Send test notification. A button in the same place sends one to your phone now, to check it arrives.
v6.29.0 October 2026
Share something with someone else signed in: to see, or to change.
- 👥 Share with… on a recipe, garment, thing or list, and Share my … with… in each app’s ⋯ menu for a whole cookbook, wardrobe, shelf or library (to look through). Choose who, and whether they can change it. Changing never includes deleting or adding.
- Shared with me… in each app opens what others have shared with you. Take a share back, or give one back, from the same sheet.
- Shares of the household’s things can be seen and taken back by either of you. Public links are unchanged.
- Saves carry the thing’s version: a change made somewhere else meanwhile is reloaded, never overwritten.
- Fixed: someone invited could see the household’s lists in KitGames, KitFlicks and KitTunes, and some of its library through reads that named nobody and through exports. They now have lists of their own, read their own by default, and exports are the household’s for now.
v6.28.0 October 2026
Invite someone in: they get spaces of their own, in only the apps you give them.
- Settings → People and access (the admin's): invite someone by first name and email, and Auth0 emails them a link to set a password. Choose their apps; block or unblock them; send an invitation again.
- Spaces of their own. Someone invited has an empty cookbook, wardrobe, shelf, library, KitFit and KitDB of their own, in the apps they were given, and sees nothing of the household's. You see nothing of theirs. Everything already here stays yours, shared by the two of you as before.
- Blocking ends their sign-in at once.
- The hub shows someone invited only their own apps, layout, help and what's new.
- Fixed: saving an outfit in KitCloset took five seconds.
v6.27.0 October 2026
Each of you signs in as yourself, once, for the hub and every app.
- One sign-in. Sign in with Auth0 (passkeys too) on the hub; it opens every app, on the hub and on its own address. KitDB's sign-in is this one now.
- Yours to change, both of yours to see. You can look at your partner's games, films, records and books, and change only your own. KitFit is yours alone. In KitBooks, a book's details belong to whoever added it; every book already here belongs to you both.
- For one release, the household password still opens everything but KitDB, once you say who you are. Take it out of the settings when sign-in works on your phones.
- KitHub listens on 127.0.0.1 by default; the tunnel reaches it there.
v6.26.1 October 2026
- KitDB 3.13.1: Feeds come back whole after a restore from backup (each feed as itself, nothing marked read that is not, saved articles still themselves).
- The multi-user plan records what R2 decided.
v6.26.0 October 2026
KitDB’s notes and boards can wear an icon of their own.
- KitDB 3.13: 🎨 Icon… in anything’s ⋯ menu gives a note, board, Matrix or character any emoji, in place of the plain one for its kind. It is filed like a pin — no new version, no conflict with a save on another device — works offline, and only the owner can change it.
- Releases that change a database now add rehearsal checks for KitDB’s own files too, run in the gate against test data as the home server’s rehearsal will against real data.
v6.25.0 October 2026
KitBooks keeps each person's reading as its own record, the first step to more people.
- KitBooks 7.5: reading data in rows, written to the old columns too and compared every day; a change made on another device is never saved over.
- Apps can do daily work with KitHub's upkeep, and are told when something of theirs comes back from Recently deleted.
- Every release is now checked against permanent rehearsal checks (
test/rehearsal/always.sql), run in the gate against test data too. - Fixed: KitFlicks’ old AniList files, removed in KitFlicks 1.5, were still on the server because unzipping never deletes anything, and their tests clashed by name with the current ones.
update.shnow removes them, and the current tests have names of their own.
v6.24.0 October 2026
Updates can install a binary built and checked ahead of time.
- When a release brings
kithub.prebuiltand its checksum, update.shchecks both, installs that exact file and compiles nothing. A mismatch leaves the running release alone. - With no prebuilt binary, updating works exactly as before.
- The multi-user plan is in
docs/KITHUB-MULTIUSER-PLAN.md.
v6.23.1 October 2026
- KitDB 3.12.1: a linked character’s quick look beside the Draft shows everything written on their sheet, leaving out empty fields.
v6.23.0 October 2026
KitDB 3.12: a Matrix that writes into the Draft, and stretches.
- Scenes and chapters added from a Matrix go into the Draft as headings, in the right place.
- A Matrix entry can run across several scenes or chapters; lanes can say what they follow.
- Beside the Draft, a tap on a linked character shows a quick look at them.
v6.22.1 October 2026
- On an iPhone, apps opened through KitHub show text at the sizes they set. iOS was enlarging lists and labels inside KitHub’s tabs, most of all in KitDB.
v6.22.0 October 2026
More streak freezes for a streak that is already going.
- ❄︎ Freezes… on a running streak goal adds more, up to 60 in all. They cover a missed day from that day on; a day already missed stays missed, and the badge’s level stays the same.
- KitDB 3.11.1: on an iPhone, + Stat on a person’s record opens its list again. On a phone wider than the smallest, the list opened below the bottom of the page, out of sight. Every stat was there all along.
v6.21.2 October 2026
- Pages load faster again: KitHub no longer saves a copy of every picture it shows for offline use. Pictures still show offline, from the browser's own cache.
- When KitHub can't be reached but the connection is fine (a Cloudflare error such as 520), a page opens from its saved copy, with the bar saying so, instead of showing the error.
- A device stuck on an error or a blank app can be put right by adding /kit-reset to KitHub's address: it clears that device's saved copies and opens KitHub again, staying signed in.
v6.21.1 October 2026
- KitTunes, KitBooks, KitFlicks and KitGames: on a phone, swipe left or right on an open record to step to the next or previous one.
- KitTunes: albums are a vinyl record and the diglist a bag; Open on the diglist works; a find asks its format.
v6.21.0 October 2026
- KitDB 3.11: organising and deleting work offline too — folders, tags, pins, projects and the trash — and are sent when the connection is back.
v6.20.0 October 2026
KitHub, offline.
- KitHub opens with no connection: the dashboard and every app, through KitHub or at its own address, as they last were on that device. Open what you want handy while you are online.
- KitDB still saves offline and sends when the connection is back. Elsewhere a change made offline says at once that it was not saved, rather than failing after a long wait.
- A small bar at the foot of the page says when you are offline or seeing saved copies. Signing out removes what the device kept.
v6.19.0 October 2026
- KitDB 3.10: on a board, High-priority cards move to the top of their column and Low to the bottom, and a completed card opens to show what was in it.
v6.18.0 October 2026
- KitDB 3.9: Subscriptions, a new tab with renewal and trial reminders, price history, a year ahead, a personal budget and a yearly review. A project with one pinned item opens on it.
- The reminder banner says when a subscription renews or a trial ends.
v6.17.1 October 2026
- On a phone, an open record in KitTunes, KitBooks, KitFlicks and KitGames is its usual size again: 10% larger broke the layout. A computer keeps 20%.
v6.17.0 October 2026
- 📝 and a My review filter in KitBooks 7.4, KitFlicks 2.8 and KitGames 2.11, as KitTunes has them: a mark beside your stars on what you have reviewed, and Written or Not written among the filters.
- On a phone, an open record in KitTunes, KitBooks, KitFlicks and KitGames reads 10% larger.
v6.16.0 October 2026
- KitDB 3.8: pin a project’s board (or anything in a project) to the Notes tab, and give a board’s cards a Low, Medium or High priority.
v6.15.0 October 2026
- KitDB 3.7: a board’s card can link to a project or to anything in KitDB, by typing / in its title, and opens it when tapped.
- KitTunes 2.15: 📝 beside the stars on a record you have reviewed, and a My review filter.
- On a computer an open record in KitTunes, KitBooks, KitFlicks and KitGames reads 20% larger.
v6.14.1 October 2026
- KitTunes 2.14.1: tags, genres, titles, covers and write-ups you edit on a record stay edited when you open it again.
v6.14.0 October 2026
- KitDB 3.6: Complete for board cards, kept in a Completed list to restore from; the panel always beside the page on a computer; and Manage tags gathers the tags no note carries, to delete in one go.
- KitTunes 2.14: a record’s tags sit above your review.
v6.13.2 October 2026
- KitTunes 2.13.2 and KitFlicks 2.6.1: a list that is not ranked shows no numbers, on your side and on its share link.
- Going from a list back to the library, or into a list, no longer shows the old rows stretched across the grid for a second: they clear at once, with a spinner if the next page takes a moment.
v6.13.1 October 2026
- KitTunes 2.13.1: a list stays a list, with its notes, whatever it is sorted by, yours and shared; and it opens in the order you last sorted it by, on its share links too.
- On a share link, in every app, the version beside the name is plain text rather than a link to the app’s changelog.
- On a phone, a control a page has switched off leaves the ⋯ menu too.
v6.13.0 October 2026
Pick your fonts.
- Settings → Font: eight pairs of heading and text fonts, from Dock, the 4.0 look, to Editorial, Terminal, Cozy and Arcade. KitHub’s font is every app’s unless you give one its own, here or from Aa Font… in that app’s ⋯ menu.
- KitTunes 2.13: filter by release years, see which lists an album is on beside its Add to list button, and open albums linked in notes, on share links too.
- A share link no longer offers the menu of other apps, or Ctrl K.
- A device downloads only the font it uses. Each font’s size is evened out so titles keep their height and fit as before.
- The share-link checks cover every share address, /share/ and /shared/ as well as /s/: the reminder banner, goals strip, help, primary person and offline worker all stay off there.
v6.12.0 October 2026
KitTunes 2.12: a diglist for record shops, and / links.
- A diglist of artists and albums to look for, filed as the bins are, kept on your phone for shops with no signal; each of you has your own and can see the other’s.
- Type / in a review or a list note to link another album.
v6.11.0 October 2026
Lists in KitBooks and KitGames.
- KitBooks 7.2 and KitGames 2.9: lists of books and of games, as KitTunes and KitFlicks have them: ranked or not, notes, section headers, reordering and share links, from a 📋 button by the switches.
- Add to a list from any book or game, or several at once from Select.
v6.10.0 October 2026
Headers in KitFlicks’ lists too.
- KitFlicks 2.6: break a list into sections with headers, each with optional text, as in KitTunes.
- Both apps’ headers now come from one place in KitHub, ready for KitBooks’ and KitGames’ lists.
v6.9.0 October 2026
Headers in KitTunes’ lists, and Lists one tap away.
- KitTunes 2.11: break a ranked list into sections with headers, each with optional text.
- KitFlicks 2.5.2: 📋 Lists by the switches, out of the ⋯ menu; on phones, both apps show it as just 📋.
v6.8.0 October 2026
A KitHub for Mom, and goals shared between them.
- A second KitHub can run beside this one, for someone else: Mom’s, with KitCook, KitFit and People on mom.serengeticloset.com, behind her own password, with her data apart from the household’s.
- Shared goals: Serengeti sees Mom’s goals and badges, and Mom sees Serengeti’s, under Goals and on the dashboard.
- Fixed: Ctrl K in KitDB also opened KitDB’s older switcher.
v6.7.0 October 2026
KitBooks 7.1: your reading on the covers.
- Want to read, Reading, Read and DNF on each cover, in colour, and a heart for a favourite; on Both, one tag each.
v6.6.0 October 2026
Ctrl K, the wheel, and your own names for tabs.
- Ctrl K (⌘K) anywhere: go to any app or tab, add something in any app, or find a book, film, album, recipe, garment or note, from one box.
- The wheel, for phones, in Settings › Customize: hold one round button, slide to an app, let go. The bar along the bottom stays the default.
- Rename any tab, with a word or an emoji, in Customize beside its order.
- A change in Customize now reaches the apps already open at once, instead of when they next open.
v6.5.1 October 2026
- KitDB: Birthdays live in Notes too, so the People tab can stay hidden; Kitsta’s windows are no longer cut off by the dock.
v6.5.0 October 2026
KitFit’s phone bridge: your Garmin’s day, in by itself.
- KitFit 1.1: steps, heart rate, sleep, active calories, weight and workouts from Garmin Connect, through Health Connect and HC Webhook on Android or Apple Health and Health Auto Export on an iPhone. What you typed always wins.
- KitTunes 2.10: remaster tags come off album titles, including the ones already in your library.
v6.4.0 October 2026
Kitsta, in KitDB: plan an Instagram profile and try posts on its grid.
- KitDB 3.4: Kitsta, a new tab. Lay out a profile, add posts, carousels and reels as drafts beside what is live, arrange and pin them, and open one to see it as it will look.
- A won badge can be deleted from its back.
v6.3.0 October 2026
Set a goal’s level yourself.
- A badge’s level can be Auto, from how hard the goal is, or one you choose, I to V, higher or lower: under How hard when you set a goal, or in the badge maker any time. Its back says you set it, and what the goal scored.
- A deleted goal shows in Recently deleted under Goals, with its own icon and what it counted.
v6.2.0 October 2026
Goals and badges: aim for something in any app, and win a badge you design.
- Goals, a new tab: a total by a date, every day for a while with skip days, days in a row with streak freezes, an average, or getting to a number. Fourteen ready-made ones, or your own from 30 things the apps count.
- It keeps track by itself, from what you enter in the apps: read dates, watched dates, steps, meals cooked, outfits worn. Nothing is guessed.
- Badges: a medal, crest or pin, five levels from Copper to Legend set by how hard the goal is, with your own symbol or letters, colours, pattern, name and motto. They unlock once, flip over, and pin to the dashboard.
- The dashboard opens with your goals and badges, and each app shows its own goals in a strip under the header.
v6.1.2 October 2026
- Fixed in KitBooks: series now come from Google Books, and the + Add preview shows everything adding the book would bring.
v6.1.1 October 2026
- Fixed in KitFit: food search failing with “could not reach USDA”. It asks for plain and branded foods separately and at once, waits longer, and says why when it still cannot get an answer.
v6.1.0 September 2026
KitBooks 7.0: + Add searches first, and a book page like KitFlicks’ and KitTunes’.
- KitBooks 7.0: search by title, author or ISBN with a preview, into the library you are looking at; status chips, stars, ♥ and a read date on the record; location, owner and series set right there.
v6.0.0 September 2026
KitFit, a new app for your day: steps, workouts, sleep, heart rate and stress, and what you ate, drank and weighed.
- KitFit 1.0: a Today page with rings for steps, food and water that shows only what you have entered; quick add for water, meals and workouts; any earlier day too.
- Food: search USDA’s database, scan a barcode (Open Food Facts), log a KitCook recipe or tonight’s planned dinner in a tap, and see macros per meal and per day.
- Trends: steps, sleep, heart rate, stress, calories, macros, water and weight, by week, month or year, with BMI from your height.
- KitCook answers KitFit through KitHub (its plan and its recipes’ nutrition), and KitFit is in the dock, the themes and Customize like every other app.
- Before updating, add
KITHUB_FIT_PASSWORD(and, for food search,KITHUB_FIT_USDA_KEY) to the settings file.
v5.8.0 September 2026
KitBooks finds books by title or author, and lets you choose another cover.
- KitBooks 6.2: search Open Library and Google Books by title or author, at the top of the scanner; choose any edition’s cover in Edit.
v5.7.1 September 2026
- A security and tidy-up pass over the whole suite.
- Nothing the server fetches for you (a recipe page, a book cover) can reach this server or the home network any more; KitDB’s guard now covers every app.
- Uploaded photos are checked to be pictures, in KitCook, KitCloset and KitKnacks.
- Exports now carry everything they had been missing: KitFlicks’ lists, KitTunes’ finder, KitCook’s aisles.
- KitBooks’ barcode scanner is KitHub’s own copy rather than an outside site’s.
- Updating is safer: if a new release does not start, the previous one is put back and keeps running. The build uses less memory while the site is up.
- Idle database connections give their memory back after a few minutes, and the service has a soft memory ceiling.
v5.7.0 September 2026
KitDB People: likes, stories, quotes you can change, and people pinned to the top.
- KitDB 3.3: + Like beside Favorite and Dislike; Stories at the bottom of a record; tap a quote to change it; pin people to the top of People.
- Fixed in KitTunes: reopening + Add could show the last search, with its MusicBrainz results.
v5.6.0 September 2026
Find a title within an artist, in KitTunes.
- KitTunes 2.8: the artist’s page has a box to find one of their albums, EPs or singles by its title.
v5.5.0 September 2026
KitTunes finds a MusicBrainz artist’s albums, and shows your own cover on the record.
- KitTunes 2.7: paste a MusicBrainz artist’s link or id into the search to list their albums and EPs to add from.
- Fixed in KitTunes: a cover you chose showed on the library card but not on the record itself.
v5.4.0 September 2026
Albums that are not on Deezer, from MusicBrainz, in KitTunes.
- KitTunes 2.6: when Deezer does not have an album (Godspeed You! Black Emperor, say), search MusicBrainz for it, or paste its MusicBrainz link, and add it as a full record with its tracks, label and cover.
v5.3.0 September 2026
Choose another poster or cover, in KitFlicks and KitTunes.
- KitFlicks 2.5: Choose another poster, in Edit, from every poster TMDB has for the title.
- KitTunes 2.5: Choose another cover, in Edit, from the album’s other editions on Deezer and MusicBrainz.
- Either is kept as your own, like a poster or cover you type in: refreshes leave it, and the other person keeps theirs.
- KitTunes’ 🎲 can pick from what you have In rotation.
v5.2.1 September 2026
- Fixed: on phones narrower than about 372px (many Android phones are 360), KitHub’s header with its new Deleted tab was wider than the screen, so the page opened slightly zoomed, cut off at the right, with the dock partly hidden until you scrolled. The header now fits on one line down to 320px, and if it ever cannot (with the phone’s text made larger), its tabs wrap under the title instead of widening the page.
v5.2.0 September 2026
Recently deleted, for every app, and KitHub laid out your way.
- Recently deleted, a tab beside Settings: anything deleted in any app waits there 14 days, with its photos, notes and places in lists, then goes for good. Put back returns it where it was, even if the same film or game has been added again since. KitDB’s Trash shows there too, in a browser signed in to it.
- Your own layout: put the tabs of KitHub and each app in your order and hide the ones you don’t use (Settings → Customize, or Customize tabs in each app’s ⋯ menu); hide apps from the dock; reorder or hide the dashboard’s sections. It is kept for the person picked in this browser, on every device where they are picked.
- One theme everywhere: switch on Use this theme in every app and every app follows KitHub’s theme, unless you give one its own, here or in that app’s own menu.
- KitDB v3.2: bring iPhone contacts into People, and favorites always before dislikes.
v5.1.0 September 2026
An iPhone Share button for KitDB and KitCook, and cropping in People.
- The iPhone Share button: an Apple Shortcut, set up once, sends an article to KitDB’s Feeds or a recipe to KitCook from Safari’s Share button, for sites that refuse KitHub. Each app shows the steps.
- KitDB v3.1: crop a person’s photo as you add it, and again later; stats and favorites read as tidy text, with Edit to rewrite, move or remove them; Mom and Dad, and a job’s position and company.
- KitCook v1.5: the Share button for recipes.
v5.0.2 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v3.0.1: highlights can be removed from every list of them, one at a time or an article’s all at once.
v5.0.1 September 2026
- Ships KitFlicks v2.3.1: Clear watched date in the select bar, for many titles (and their seasons) at once.
v5.0.0 September 2026
People in KitDB, Zines in KitBooks, hidden titles in KitFlicks, and the KitHub buttons.
- KitDB v3.0: People. A record for each person in your life, with birthdays (moved from the Birthdays note), gifts, action items, notes, favorites and stats. Feeds can read a link once or save it; Listening can let go of audio.
- KitBooks v6.0: Zines, a shelf beside the books with your own rating and review. KitFlicks v2.3: hide a title from your library and share links.
- No watched, played or read date is ever filled in for you any more, anywhere: KitFlicks and KitGames were the last to do it.
- The KitHub buttons send a page from your browser to KitCook (recipes) or KitDB (Feeds), for sites that refuse the server. Nothing from another site is ever taken by the server itself.
- The reminder banner reads people’s records, and says so for a partner’s anniversary. Lists in KitFlicks and KitTunes can be linked from KitDB.
- The server keeps its code in git (docs/VERSION-CONTROL.md): each release is recorded after it starts, privately, on the server alone.
v4.10.0 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v2.2: the Matrix (as Timelines are now called) beside a Draft, one column at a time; Tab indents in a Draft; the bar above a Draft stays in view; and the dock steps aside while writing.
- Any app can ask the dock to step aside, in its own page or in a hub tab.
v4.9.2 September 2026
- What’s new on the dashboard shows each app’s latest feature release, not its latest fix, with “now v2.2.1” beside it when fixes have followed. Every fix is still in each app’s changelog.
- A changelog entry can say for itself whether it is dashboard news, so older releases numbered before this rule show correctly: KitGames’ finder, KitDB’s Feeds, and not the ? Help pages that went to every app at once.
- A changelog’s small “fix” labels no longer run into the sentence before them on the dashboard.
docs/RELEASING.mdsets out how releases are numbered and written up from here on.
v4.9.1 September 2026
- Every app keeps the sort you last chose across a reload, on each device: KitBooks, KitCloset, KitCook, KitFlicks, KitGames (library, finder and Steam import), KitKnacks and KitTunes (library and finder). KitDB already did. A sort that is no longer offered falls back to the first choice.
- In KitTunes and KitFlicks a list opens in its own order, and leaving it puts the library’s sort back. Before, KitTunes left the list’s order behind on the library, and KitFlicks opened lists in the library’s sort.
v4.9.0 September 2026
- Ships KitTunes v2.2: the music finder. More like the artists and records you choose, by genre, style and mood, era, kind and how well known, with only-new-artists, saved searches and not interested.
- App versions ending in .0 are now written without it: KitTunes v2.2, KitDB v2.1. A fix after one is v2.2.1.
v4.8.1 September 2026
- Storage and usage in Settings: the server’s disk, memory and swap as bars, its load and uptime, and KitHub’s own memory; every database and folder of photos and uploads by app, largest first; the local backups; and what the nightly upkeep last did and when it runs next. It warns under a quarter free, and says to act under a tenth. ↻ Measure again refreshes it.
- Fixed: the nightly upkeep skipped KitDB’s Feeds article cache, which is kept out of the backup (fetching rebuilds it) and so was missing from the list the upkeep walks. It is the database that changes most, so it was the one most in need. Apps can now name such caches, and the upkeep tidies them with the rest.
kithub diskand the panel share one set of numbers.
v4.8.0 September 2026
- Ships KitTunes v2.1.0 (Releases: new and announced records by the artists on your list) and KitDB v2.1.0 (the rain pauses while you read an article).
- Daily database upkeep at 03:30: every database’s write-ahead log is folded back in and shrunk, its statistics refreshed, and it is vacuumed when more than a quarter of it is free space. SQLite never shrinks those files on its own.
kithub diskon the server reports what KitHub keeps and how much room is left: each database, each folder of photos and uploads, local backups and Go’s build cache.- Backend cleanup: every database is opened in one place, with each keeping its settings exactly; twelve unused functions removed; the rain in KitCloset, KitCook, KitKnacks and the hub no longer adds a listener each time it restarts.
- Documentation:
docs/API.md(every route) anddocs/CONFIG.md(every setting) are generated from the code, and a test fails when either falls behind;docs/OPERATIONS.mdcovers installing, updating, keys, backups and disk space.
v4.7.0 September 2026
- Ships KitTunes v2.0.0: an Artists tab with follow, hide and notes; tour dates, and every show near you; MusicBrainz ratings for the whole library at once; and lists that can take any album or song on Deezer.
- An app may ask where you are. Location was refused to every page, so the browser never even asked. Now this site alone may ask, on a tap, and the apps in the hub’s tabs pass the question through. KitTunes’ near me is the only thing that asks. Microphone, payment and USB stay refused.
- New optional setting:
KITHUB_TUNES_TICKETMASTER_KEY, for KitTunes’ tour dates.
v4.6.2 September 2026
- Ships KitTunes v1.6.1: a MusicBrainz community rating in place of Deezer’s fans, and a sort by it.
v4.6.1 September 2026
- No more flicker in the libraries (KitBooks, KitCloset, KitCook, KitFlicks, KitGames, KitKnacks and KitTunes). Every change rebuilt the grid and replayed every card’s entrance, so they all blinked. Now a change moves only what moves.
- When something is added, removed or reordered, the cards glide to their new places. One pushed onto another row slips out past its row and slides in at the start of the next. A new one grows in, and one that goes fades out where it was.
- A change that reorders nothing (a rating, a status that keeps its place) moves nothing, and a second update mid-motion carries each card on from where it is. Covers do not blink. The first load still rises in once, as does switching between grid and list.
- Ships KitTunes v1.6.0: an artist’s page narrows to albums, EPs or singles, and it opens in front of a record opened from the search.
v4.6.0 September 2026
- A KitHub icon: the cat in its box, in place of the toolbox. It is the home-screen and install icon, and the tab icon.
- In the hub’s header, on the sign-in screen and on this page it is drawn in the theme’s colours, and the tab icon follows the theme once the page has loaded. On a phone the icon stays beside the name: the title no longer wraps, and the version badge makes way on a narrow screen.
- Home on the dock is the same icon. On the accent it now takes the accent’s text colour like every other app; before, its name stayed grey.
- In a dark theme the dashboard’s two headline boxes are lighter, with dark text, so they are easier to read.
- Ships KitDB v2.0.4: pictures at the top of an article no longer stick to the top, the reader’s bar is the only bar while you read, and scrolls sideways when its buttons do not fit, full articles for every feed at once, Refresh all feeds, and far fewer feeds marked as moved.
- Fixed: on a computer, every app had a stray ▼ button at the very end of its page. It is the phone’s control for bringing back the top bar, and now only appears on a phone.
- Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+9 on a computer switch apps, in the dock’s order as you have arranged it: Ctrl+1 is KitHub, and a folder’s apps are counted in turn. They work from inside any app, and a dock button shows its number when you hover it.
v4.5.3 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v2.0.3: no ✕ over an article on a phone.
- A sheet can now leave out KitHub’s ✕ when it has its own way out. The back button still closes it.
v4.5.2 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v2.0.2: every note in the list has its own ⋯, and on a phone the open note’s ⋯ is no longer under KitHub’s ✕.
v4.5.1 September 2026
- Ships KitGames v2.6.2: 🧭 Find, a game finder built on tags, the games you love and your platforms, backlog and time.
- Ships KitDB v2.0.1: a voice ID for Fish Audio, so an article keeps one voice from start to end.
v4.5 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v2.0: Feeds is complete, with reading and listening offline.
- The dashboard’s KitDB card adds Feeds: unread, saved to read, read this week and minutes listened this week.
- The player plays audio KitDB has kept on the device, with no connection.
v4.4.6 September 2026
- A player, on top of the dock in every app, for KitDB’s listening. It keeps playing as you move between apps, tucks into KitDB’s icon with a ring while you are elsewhere, and answers the lock screen and headphones.
- Ships KitDB v1.1.6: listening to articles, with a queue.
v4.4.5 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v1.1.5, which stops the page shifting when a Draft’s outline is open.
v4.4.4 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v1.1.4: highlights and notes in Feeds.
- Fixed: every app’s entrance animation held its last frame, which kept sheets opened inside the page under its top bar on some phones. It now lets go when it ends.
v4.4.3 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v1.1.3: article links in notes open the article, and the reader fills a phone’s screen as you read.
v4.4.2 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v1.1.2: Feeds’ reader, Saved and Favorites, full articles, pictures through KitDB, search, and links to articles from notes.
v4.4.1 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v1.1.1, which fixes Sixth Tone’s articles all showing as new.
v4.4.0 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v1.1.0, with Feeds: a feed reader as KitDB’s third tab.
- The small dock from 4.3.4 is gone again: its caret was unreliable. A player now sits on top of the dock instead, and in a later version the listening player will live in KitHub itself, above the dock in every app.
v4.3.4 September 2026
- A small dock while something plays. When a page has a player along the bottom, the dock tucks away to a small tab with a caret instead of covering it. Tap the tab for the apps; choosing one, or tapping back into the page, puts them away. Another app still gets the full dock.
- Ships KitDB v1.0.4, whose listening test is the first page to use it.
v4.3.3 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v1.0.3, with a listening test for Feeds.
- The nightly backup leaves out folders called
cache: KitDB’s spoken audio, which can always be made again.
v4.3.2 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v1.0.2, which fixes the sample project’s board freezing the page.
v4.3.1 September 2026
A dashboard.
- KitHub’s home is a dashboard. The apps are in the dock, so the page no longer lists them: it greets you, adds up everything kept across the suite, shows each app’s numbers — books read, films watched, recipes cooked, days worn — and tapping one opens it.
- What’s new, on the same page: the newest release of KitHub and of every app, read straight from their changelogs, with the rest a tap away.
- KitDB’s numbers — notes, projects, words written, characters — show only in a browser signed in to KitDB, and only your own.
- Ships KitDB v1.0.1, with a sample project for each of you.
v4.3 September 2026
KitDB 1.0.
- Ships KitDB v1.0: notes and writing projects — Drafts, boards, characters, perspectives and timelines — shared when you choose, with birthdays on every page, and now working offline.
- The service worker can keep a page an app marks as working offline (only KitDB’s, and only its page and editor — never your data, which KitDB keeps itself), so it opens with no connection. Every other page is still fetched fresh, every time.
v4.2.7 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v0.9: timelines in projects.
v4.2.6 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v0.8: character sheets, and files on Kanban cards.
v4.2.5 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v0.7: Kanban boards in projects.
v4.2.4 September 2026
- Dropdowns and tick boxes match the theme in every app, light and dark: the box, its arrow and, where the browser allows it, the open list.
- Ships KitDB v0.6: Projects begin, with Drafts.
v4.2.3 September 2026
- Birthday reminders on every page. When one is due in your KitDB Birthdays note, a line at the top of the hub and of every app says whose, when, and how long to go, with a way to the note and a ✕ that puts it away on every device. Only in a browser signed in to KitDB, only your own, and never the gift ideas.
- Ships KitDB v0.5.
v4.2.2 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v0.4: sharing a note with each other, to read or to edit, with who else is in it shown as you go; folder icons; table sizes; coloured code.
v4.2.1 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v0.3: the / menu, tables, pictures, links to notes and to any Kit app’s records, and what links here.
- Every app opens a linked record. A link from a KitDB note opens that book, film, game, album, recipe, garment or trinket in its own app — its tab through KitHub, or its own address in a new tab.
v4.2 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v0.2: the real editor, folders inside folders, tags, pins, a home page, search and a quick switcher.
- An app’s own libraries (KitDB’s editor) are served by KitHub and kept by the browser for a year, fetched again only when a release changes them.
v4.1.1 September 2026
- Ships KitDB v0.1.1, which fixes an account being refused at sign-in because of how its id was copied into the server settings.
v4.1 September 2026
- KitDB joins — notes and writing, private to each of you, with its own sign-in through Auth0 and passkeys. A KitHub password does not open it. Eight apps now.
- Help everywhere. “? Help” at the bottom of every app’s menu, and in Settings, explains every part of it on a phone and a computer, with what is new at the top. A release cannot ship without each app’s help being checked against its version.
- Installable properly. Every app and the hub have a complete manifest, icons drawn from the dock, and a small service worker, so an installed app gets a window of its own. It never caches anything; with no connection it says so instead of showing the browser’s error.
- Vivaldi on Linux:
deploy/linux-webapp-fix.shmakes installed apps show as their own icons in the dock rather than under Vivaldi’s. - A folder in the dock can show one of its apps’ icons, chosen in Settings → Dock.
- This page now rises in, has a way back at the top, and rains on Rainy Day, like each app’s own.
- Fixed: KitBooks, KitCloset, KitGames and KitKnacks showed an old version beside their name. A test now fails if any page writes its version by hand.
- Sign out every device, in Settings, now also ends KitDB’s sessions.
v4.0.3 September 2026
- Tap an app’s name to open its menu. The ⋯ button is gone. On a phone the menu also holds grid / list, random pick and select-several, which leaves the top bar with just the name and the controls you use most.
- The names at the top show on phones in KitFlicks, KitGames and KitTunes.
- This page now uses the hub’s theme instead of always being purple.
- KitGames: one Played date, and My review between Genre and Tags. KitFlicks: box office below Tags. KitTunes: previews work again, vinyl and floppy owned marks, and a physical / digital owned filter.
v4.0.2 September 2026
- Fixed: through KitHub, every app showed “refused to connect”. A security header from v3.6 forbade showing the pages inside any frame, including KitHub’s own tabs from v4.0.1. Framing is now allowed for KitHub itself and still refused for every other site.
v4.0.1 September 2026
- Apps are tabs now. Through KitHub, every app opens inside one page and stays loaded, so switching is instant and each app is exactly where you left it — same scroll, same filters, same open record.
- Arrange the dock in Settings → Dock: any order, and folders that open upwards to keep the bar short.
- The dock scrolls sideways when it is wider than the screen.
- Use this theme in every app, in Settings → Theme, sets every app on the device at once.
- Fixed: KitHub, KitBooks, KitFlicks, KitGames and KitTunes showed no name at the top.
- A new game controller icon.
- Fixed: KitCook and KitCloset shared their theme, rain and view settings through the hub, so changing one changed the other. KitCook starts on its default theme once; plan view, units and running timers are kept.
v4.0 September 2026
- A new look across every app. New fonts, rounder and softer surfaces, a blurred header, cards that lift and settle, dialogs that slide up as sheets on a phone, and smooth transitions throughout. Same six themes, same dark modes, rain still optional.
- The dock. Through KitHub, a bar along the bottom holds every app; one tap switches, and switching crossfades where the browser supports it.
- Add is a floating button on phones.
- No more blue flash when tapping a poster on Android.
- Nothing was removed: every page keeps all its features. Settings → Look → Classic brings back the previous look in that browser.
- The fonts are served by KitHub itself, so pages make no requests to Google.
- Every visual change is listed, with how to tune it, in
docs/UX-4.0.md.
v3.7 September 2026
- Primary person. Choose who KitBooks, KitFlicks, KitGames and KitTunes open on, per browser — in KitHub settings, or from “Opens on” in any of those apps’ ⋯ menu. One choice covers the hub and every app’s own address.
- The back button closes the record instead of leaving the page — Android’s, or a browser’s. From a search result it returns to the search; from a recommendation, to the record you opened it from.
- Search and recommendations work the same in KitFlicks, KitGames and KitTunes: tap to look, Add to add, and recommendations open in the app rather than on another site.
- Groundwork for linking records between apps, which the notes app will use.
- KitTunes’ releases now appear on this combined page; its changelog used markup this page did not pick up.
- The backup job can keep copies on the server only, with the cloud destination left empty.
v3.6 September 2026
- One encrypted backup a night. Every database, every app’s export, every photo and the running source go into a single file, checked end to end and encrypted before it leaves the server. The server holds only the public key. Fourteen daily, eight weekly and twelve monthly copies are kept, and Settings shows when the last one was stored.
- Wrong passwords lock an address out. Five in fifteen minutes from one address and that address waits fifteen minutes, on every login form at once.
- Sign out every device, in Settings. Sessions now also expire on the server after a year. Everyone signs in once more after this update.
- Security headers on every page, a size cap on every upload, and writes from another website refused outright.
- A crash in a background job — a refresh, an import — is logged and survived, rather than taking all seven apps down with it.
- KitBooks covers are no longer kept in Cloudflare’s shared cache.
v3.5 September 2026
- KitCook gains an “On hand” view beside the calendar: tins, freezer portions and anything else that comes with a count rather than a date.
- KitTunes shortens big listener and fan counts — 276k rather than 276,231, which said the same thing in three times the width.
v3.4 September 2026
- Score boxes sit in one row on a phone. In KitFlicks, KitTunes and KitGames they were a wrapping row of fixed-width boxes, so four of them became two or three short rows with the width either side going to waste. They now share the width evenly, one row, labels wrapping inside.
v3.3 September 2026
- KitTunes stops repeating a genre as a tag in list rows. The album page was fixed in v3.1; the rows were a second, separate place doing the same thing, and now both go through one function.
v3.2 September 2026
- The top bar gets out of the way on a phone. It slides up as you scroll down and comes back as soon as you scroll up, with a small tab at the top to pull it back without scrolling at all. A quarter of the screen was going on controls nobody was using mid-scroll.
- KitBooks has the close button now. It styled its modals by id and never carried the class core looks for, so it was the one app still making you scroll a whole record to leave it.
- Logging out of KitHub has moved into Settings, off the top bar, where it was one of three buttons competing for a narrow screen and by far the least wanted.
v3.1 September 2026
- KitHub can be installed. It had no icon and no manifest of its own, so the one address that reaches every app was the one you could not keep on a home screen. Installed from the hub it covers the whole suite, rather than one app per icon.
- A way out of a record on a phone. Every app put its Close at the bottom of the modal, which meant scrolling a whole recipe to leave it. There is now a button in the top corner, in all seven, in the same place.
- Narrow screens behave. Titles shrink instead of shoving the buttons off the edge, fields no longer make iOS zoom in and stay there, and modals use the width they have.
- KitTunes stops listing a genre twice when it also came back as a tag.
- KitCook groups the shopping list by aisle, and remembers your corrections.
v3.0 September 2026
- KitCook reaches v1.0 — a bookmarklet for the sites that refuse a server, a share target on Android, timers that survive a reload, and a log of what the house has actually been eating.
v2.9 September 2026
- KitCook repairs a share link that carried the cooking log it was supposed to withhold, and an export that was no longer a full backup. Square pictures, a tidier calendar, and filtering by ingredient.
v2.8 September 2026
- KitCook gains a meal plan, a shopping list built from it, and a log of what actually got made.
- KitTunes no longer asks for a location, a tag or a custom format in a browser pop-up. All three now suggest what you already use, so "Shelf 2" and "shelf 2" stop becoming two places.
v2.7 September 2026
- KitCook joins — a cookbook that reads a recipe off a link and keeps it. Seven apps now.
- Backups cover its database and any recipe pictures that were uploaded rather than hotlinked.
v2.3 September 2026
- Ships photo handling fixes for KitCloset and KitKnacks — adding an item on a phone was unreliable.
v2.2 September 2026
- Photos with the background removed can be touched up by hand in KitCloset and KitKnacks.
- A new check confirms every API path a page calls is actually served. A page calling a route that does not exist parses perfectly and fails only when someone presses the button.
v2.1 September 2026
- KitKnacks joins — a shelf for trinkets, curios and small objects. Five apps now.
- Backups cover its database and its photos.
v2.0 September 2026
- Rainy Day rains on the hub too, with the same on/off switch the apps have, so the home page matches whatever it launches.
- Browser checks now drive each page in a real DOM rather than only parsing it. A handler calling a function that was never written parses perfectly well and fails the moment it runs — which is how a dead menu and a stuck theme tick shipped.
- Ships KitCloset v2.1.
v1.11 September 2026
- Ships KitCloset v2.0.
v1.10.1 September 2026
- An app's own code now revalidates on every load. Pages and scripts were served with no cache headers at all, so a browser could keep last version's JavaScript indefinitely and run it against this version's server — which looks exactly like a bug in the new release.fix
- Images and icons still cache normally; they are the bulk of the bytes and rarely change.
{{VERSION}}joins{{BASE}}as a token replaced in served HTML, so an import can be pinned to the release that shipped it.
v1.10 September 2026
- Ships KitCloset v1.3, which fixes background removal and frees about 330 MB on the server.
v1.9 September 2026
{{BASE}}in any app's HTML is replaced with its URL prefix before serving. Most things can read that at runtime, but an import map is parsed before any script runs.- Ships KitCloset v1.2, which fixes background removal.
v1.8 September 2026
- Ships KitCloset v1.1. No KitHub-level changes.
v1.7.1 September 2026
- Ships KitCloset v1.0.1, which imports existing background-removed photos rather than discarding them.
v1.7 September 2026
A fourth app.
- KitCloset joins — a wardrobe organiser, rebuilt from Libre Closet so the same features run in this process instead of a separate Node server using most of the machine's memory.
- Backups now cover its database and its garment photos.
v1.6 September 2026
- Ships KitFlicks v1.8. No KitHub-level changes.
v1.5 September 2026
- Ships KitFlicks v1.7, which can talk to a home media stack. New optional settings in the env file; nothing changes if they are left blank.
v1.4.1 September 2026
- Ships KitFlicks v1.6.1. No KitHub-level changes.
v1.4 September 2026
- Share links can now cover something other than a whole library — KitFlicks uses this for lists. A link can be looked up without creating one, and deleting the thing shared takes its links with it.
v1.3.3 September 2026
- Ships KitFlicks v1.5.1. No KitHub-level changes.
v1.3.2 September 2026
- Ships KitFlicks v1.5, which changes where anime comes from. No KitHub-level changes.
v1.3 September 2026
Filters
- Long filter panels scroll at every width. The cap was only applied on phones; a laptop with a lot of tags hit exactly the same problem.fix
- A search box appears above any filter group with more than ten entries, so you can type instead of hunting. Chips you have already selected stay visible whatever you type, so you can always see and undo what is active.
Motion
- The entrance animation is slower and rises further — noticeable rather than subliminal. Still skipped entirely under reduced motion.
v1.2.1 September 2026
- Pages fade and rise in on load, across every app and the hub. The fade lands when the app actually appears rather than while the session is still being checked, and the library rises in again once its contents arrive.
- Skipped entirely if your device asks for reduced motion.
v1.2 September 2026
Quality-of-life pass across every app.
Moving around
- App switcher in the header. The back arrow became a menu listing every other app and the hub, so you can jump straight from one to another. Only appears when you arrived through KitHub; the subdomains stay separate doors.
- Every changelog has a way back to its app and to the combined KitHub changelog. Two of the three had neither, and their links were unstyled browser blue against the app theme.
Fixed
- Home-screen icons work on iPhone for every app. Only KitBooks did before. Two causes: the icon link was written by script rather than being in the page, and only KitBooks shipped a proper opaque 180×180 file at the path iOS looks for. Every app now has one, served at the conventional path as well.fix
- Long filter panels scroll on a phone. They used to overflow past the bottom of the screen and scroll the page underneath instead.fix
Removed
- Renaming household members. It was dangerous with KitBooks, which keys ratings and notes to fixed columns, and useful to nobody. The household list is still shown in settings, read-only.
v1.1 September 2026
Housekeeping pass before the modules start changing. No behaviour changes except one fix.
Fixed
- KitBooks was missing the ‘ KitHub back button. The glue was copy-pasted per app and KitBooks only got half of it.fix
Tidied
- The client-side glue that makes an app work at two mount points is injected by core now instead of pasted into each app's page, so no app can drift from the others again.
- Helpers that were byte-identical across modules moved to core; ones that only looked similar were deliberately left alone.
- Dead code left over from the ports removed.
- Each app's household list is derived from KitHub's rather than hard-coded. Adding a person in KitHub now shows up in every app, with each keeping its own preferred order.
v1.0.1 September 2026
- An app can answer on several hostnames.
KITHUB_<APP>_HOSTtakes a comma-separated list, and every app also answers on its own id, so KitFlicks now serves bothflics.andflicks..fix - An unclaimed subdomain no longer falls through to the hub. It used to show the hub login, which looked like the right app rejecting the right password. It now returns a short explanation naming the hostnames actually being served, and logs the same.fix
KITHUB_HUB_HOSTSlists extra hostnames allowed to reach the hub, for test addresses.
v1.0 September 2026
KitFlicks joins. All three apps now run from one process, one deployment, one place to update.
- KitFlicks mounted as a module, database adopted unchanged, seasons and episodes intact.
- Three apps, four addresses, one binary. Adding a fourth app is a package and one line.
- Every app is reachable from the hub with one password, and from its own subdomain with its own.
v0.2 September 2026
KitBooks joins. Two apps in the process, one to go.
- KitBooks mounted as a module, database adopted unchanged, uploaded covers carried across.
- Renaming a person is now refused when an app cannot honour it. KitBooks keeps per-person data in fixed columns, so a rename would hide it rather than move it; core says so instead of letting it happen.
- The combined changelog picks up any app's release blocks regardless of which markup style its own page uses.
- An app that ships its own read-only share page gets that page served for share links, instead of the main app page in read-only mode.
v0.1 September 2026
First release. One process, one deployment, three doors into the same data.
Structure
- Every app now runs inside a single binary as a module. Adding a future app is one package and one line.
- Each app keeps its own SQLite file, adopted as-is. No schema rewrites, no data conversion.
- App switcher at the hub address, with a per-person summary line for each app.
Signing in
- One password on the hub address opens every app.
- Each subdomain keeps its own password, unchanged. The two never cross: session cookies are host-only and signed per scope.
Shared across apps
- Household list moved to KitHub. Rename someone once and every app follows.
- Share links moved to one registry. Existing links were imported and still work, on both the hub and the subdomain.
- KitHub settings: what the home page opens to, hub theme, and household names.
Housekeeping
- PWA manifests are rewritten per address, so installing from the hub opens the right app.
- One systemd service, one env file, one backup job covering every database.
- No app has a built-in default password any more; every password must be set explicitly.
📚 KitBooks open on its own
v7.8 October 2026
Lists can be shared with someone else signed in.
- 👥 Share with… on a list: they can see it, or change its notes, name and order (never add, take away or delete). Shared with me in the Lists window.
- Someone invited has lists of their own.
v7.7 October 2026
Someone invited by the admin has a shelf of their own.
- Someone invited and given KitBooks sees only the books they add, with their own reading; they see nothing of your shelf, and you nothing of theirs.
- Zines, lists, share links and importing stay yours.
v7.6 October 2026
With KitHub's sign-in, each of you changes only your own reading, and each book's details belong to whoever added it.
- Your reading is yours. On any book you can set your own status, stars, notes, read date and ♥, as before; nobody else's.
- A book's details belong to whoever added it (title, author, cover, location, series, deleting it). Every book already here belongs to you both, so nothing changes for them. Who owns the physical copy is still just that, and still what the library toggle shows.
- Imports fill in your own reading only.
v7.5 October 2026
Each person's reading is kept as its own record, ready for more people.
- A change made on another device is never saved over. If a book or zine changed elsewhere while you had it open, your next change reloads it as it is now and says so; in ✎ Edit, what you typed stays in the form for you to save again.
- Your status, rating, notes, read date and favourite, and your zine ratings and reviews, are now kept one row per person, the way KitGames, KitFlicks and KitTunes keep theirs. They are still written to the old places too, and the two copies are compared every day.
- Re-fetching a book's details, a new cover and bulk changes no longer rewrite anyone's reading, so none of them can undo a status set at the same moment.
- A book or zine put back from Recently deleted comes back with everyone's reading, including ones deleted before this release.
v7.4.2 October 2026
- On a phone, swipe left or right on an open record to go to the next or previous one, as ← → do on a computer.
v7.4.1 October 2026
- Fixed: the 10% larger record on a phone, from the last release, broke the layout there. A phone shows a record at its usual size again; a computer keeps the 20%.
v7.4 October 2026
Your reviews, at a glance.
- 📝 on a book you have written notes on — your review — under its author, and right of your stars in the list view. On Both, each of you.
- My review among the filters: With my review, or Without. On Both, either of you. A share link does not offer it, since it hides your notes.
- On a phone, an open record now reads 10% larger too (20% on a computer since the last release).
v7.3 October 2026
Easier to read on a big screen.
- On a computer, an open record reads 20% larger: its text, buttons and pictures, and nothing else on the page. A phone is unchanged.
v7.2 October 2026
Lists, like KitTunes’ and KitFlicks’.
- 📋 Lists by the switches: ranked or not, a note on each book, section headers, drag or number to reorder.
- 📋 Add to list on every book, and from Select for several at once.
- Share a list by a link that shows just that list, read only, with one person’s status and stars.
v7.1 October 2026
Your reading on the covers.
- Each cover on the shelf shows Want to read, Reading, Read or DNF, in colour, as KitFlicks and KitTunes do, and a heart for a favourite.
- On Both, each of you has your own tag with your initial.
v7.0.1 October 2026
- Fixed: series still came in for almost no books. They now come from Google Books, which records a book’s series and number; Refresh, or Refresh all in the menu, fills them in for books you already have.
- Fixed: the preview in + Add showed only what the search had. It now looks the book up as adding would, and fills in the cover, series, publisher, pages, subjects, ratings and description, keeping nothing until you add it.
v7.0 September 2026
A cleaner book page, + Add that searches first, and the day you read each book.
- + Add searches: title, author or ISBN, with covers and a preview, straight into the library you are looking at. Entering by hand and scanning are a tap away.
- Your reading on the record, like KitFlicks and KitTunes: status chips (now with Did not finish), half stars, ♥ for a favourite, and Read on, a date that stays blank unless you enter it.
- Set it on the record: location, owner and series, each with its own ✎, and ‹ › to step through the shelf.
- Edit is the book itself now: no status, stars or notes there, and no other person’s.
- Series fill in from Open Library and Google Books when they have one with a number, and a refresh fills it for books that have none.
- Scan adds to the library you are looking at, too. Goodreads’ and StoryGraph’s read dates come in with an import; the CSV export carries read dates and favourites; shares never show read dates.
v6.2 September 2026
Find a book by its title or author, and choose another edition’s cover.
- Search by title or author at the top of the scanner: Open Library and Google Books together, with covers, for a book without its barcode to hand.
- Other covers in Edit: every cover of the book’s other editions, to pick one. It stays yours through refreshes, like an uploaded photo.
- A search result you already own says so; one with no ISBN is added with what the search knew.
- An uploaded cover photo is checked to be a picture, as the other apps’ uploads have been since 5.7.1.
v6.1.1 September 2026
- The barcode scanner is now KitHub’s own copy, loaded when you open Scan, instead of from an outside site on every visit.
v6.1 September 2026
- Recently deleted: books and zines you delete waits 14 days in KitHub’s new Recently deleted tab, with its photos, notes and places in lists, and Put back returns it where it was.
- Customize tabs in the ⋯ menu: put Books and Zines in your order and hide the ones you don’t use. It opens on your first one.
- One theme everywhere: with it switched on in KitHub, this app follows KitHub’s theme, unless you choose one of its own here.
v6.0 September 2026
Zines: a shelf of their own beside the books, curated by hand.
- A Zines tab, switched to from the header: name, artist, a photo if you like, topic, how you got it, where it lives, size (mini to tall), whether it is informative, and notes.
- Your own rating and review. Each of you rates and reviews a zine for yourself, and sees only your own.
- Everything filters: artist, topic, acquisition, location, size, rating, informative and whether it has a photo, with search across names, notes and your reviews. Artists, topics, acquisitions and locations suggest from what you have used, and zines keep locations of their own, apart from the books’.
- Include my zines in Share library adds a Zines tab to a link, without locations, notes or reviews. Ticking it keeps the same link.
- Zines can be linked from KitDB, count on the dashboard, and have their own export.
v5.4.2 September 2026
- The sort you chose is kept after a reload: the sort, on each device.
v5.4.1
- Links from KitDB open here. Tapping a book linked in a KitDB note opens this app on it, switching to the library that has it.
v5.4
- ? Help at the bottom of the menu the name opens: what every part of KitBooks does, on a phone and on a computer, with what is new at the top.
- A new home-screen icon, drawn to match its dock button, and a complete app manifest, so installing it gives it a window and an icon of its own — including in Vivaldi on Linux.
- The version beside the name now always matches this page. It said v5.3 while the app was v5.3.1.
v5.3.1
- The rain animation no longer throws when a browser hands back no 2D canvas context. It used to take the theme menu down with it; now it simply declines to run, which is the right outcome for decoration.
v5.3
- Moved into KitHub — KitBooks now runs inside the KitHub process instead of its own service. Same database, same features; the catalogue was adopted exactly as it was.
- Two ways in — still at its own address with its own password, and now also from the KitHub home page, where one password covers every app.
- Shared household list — Ethan and Serengeti are defined once in KitHub instead of separately per app.
- Share links moved to KitHub — one registry for every app. Creating, regenerating and disabling links works exactly as before, and every previous link shape still resolves.
- ‘ KitHub button — appears in the header when you arrive through the hub.
- Config moved — the password is now
KITHUB_BOOKS_PASSWORDin/etc/kithub.env, and there is no built-in fallback password any more.config - Known limitation — renaming a person in KitHub settings is refused while KitBooks is installed. KitBooks keeps each person's status, rating and notes in fixed columns, so a rename needs a schema migration first. That migration is planned as its own release.
v5.2.3
- Fix: share scrubbing when logged in — opening a share link from a browser that also had a KitBooks session showed the full, unscrubbed data (descriptions on no-spoilers links, plus notes, location, and loans). A presented share token now always applies its scope, even with a session cookie — so previewing a link shows exactly what a viewer gets. A revoked token is refused even for logged-in browsers.
- Version badge → changelog — tapping the little version number next to the KitBooks name opens this page.
- Changelog matches your theme — this page now uses whatever theme you've picked in the app instead of always being brown.
v5.2.2
- Share links can be disabled — the share dialog now shows the link in a copyable field with Disable link and Regenerate buttons (KitGames-style). Each scope's link is a stored token: disable kills it instantly, regenerate replaces it, and a footer shows every link currently active. Your pre-v5.2.2 "everything" link was migrated in and can now be revoked like any other.
- Shared pages hide location and loans — where a book lives and who's borrowing it are stripped server-side from every share response, alongside notes.
v5.2.1
- Scoped share links — "Share library…" in the menu now shares whatever the toggle shows: Serengeti's books, Ethan's, or everything on Both. Each scope gets its own link, and the scope is enforced by the server — editing the URL can't widen it. Links made before v5.2.1 keep working and mean "everything".
- No Spoilers share toggle — when generating a link, a 🙈 toggle produces a variant with all descriptions hidden (also server-enforced).
- Fuller shared view — shared pages now show every field: location, owner, series, tags, genre, loan status, community rating, and both readers' status/stars. Notes — anyone's — are never included in any share link.
v5.2
- The toggle now picks a library — Serengeti and Ethan show only the books that person owns; a new Both option shows everything. Serengeti is first and the default. The owner dropdown left the filter panel since the toggle replaces it.
- Tap-the-stars rating — all five stars always show; tap the left half of a star for a half star, the right half for a full one (KitGames style), with a small ✕ to clear. Works in the book view and the edit form.
- Per-person notes — Serengeti's notes and Ethan's notes are separate fields. In a person's view your notes are editable inline and the other person's show smaller when written; in Both, both are editable. Notes from before v5.2 stay visible as "Shared notes". Goodreads/StoryGraph reviews now import into the right person's notes.
- Both view details — the book view shows both people's status/stars rows, list view badges show S · and E · lines, status filters match either person ("Unread" = neither has read it), and "My rating" sorts by the higher of the two.
- Loan dates are MM-DD-YYYY — displayed and saved that way; anything typed as YYYY-MM-DD is converted automatically.
- Themed scrollbars — scrollbars across the app (and the shared + changelog pages) follow the active theme instead of the browser default.
v5.1
- Reader toggle up front — the Ethan / Serengeti switch is now a big segmented toggle on the main screen (KitGames style) instead of a menu entry. It drives status filters, "My rating" sort, list-view badges, and the quick controls below.
- List view — a ☷ button next to the sort switches the library to compact rows (small cover, title, author, location) with your status and rating on the right. Sticks between visits.
- Edit without Edit — in the book view you can now set your own status and rating directly (saves instantly), and Notes and Loaned-to collapse to small + Add note / + Loaned out links that expand into inline editors. A one-tap Returned clears a loan.
- The other reader's line — their status and rating sit in smaller text directly under your own controls, and only when they've actually set something.
- Grid cards show 📍 location only again — the 👤 owner badge from v5 is gone (owner is still in the book view, filters, and bulk edit).
v5
- Per-person reading data — Ethan and Serengeti each get their own read status (Want to read / Reading / Read) and half-star rating on every book. A "Reading as" switch in the menu controls whose status the filters and sorts use.
- Community ratings — each lookup now pulls the average reader rating and rating count from Open Library (with Google Books as fallback), shown as stars in the book view. Sortable.
- Store mode — a check-only toggle in the scanner: scan a barcode at a bookstore and instantly see whether you already own it (and where it lives), without adding anything.
- Series support — series name + number fields with autocomplete, a series filter, and a Series sort that shelves trilogies together in order.
- Loan tracking — "loaned to" and "loaned on" fields plus a 🤝 Loaned-out filter for everything currently out of the house.
- Bulk edit — a Select mode: tap books to select them, then set owner/location or add tags/genres to all of them at once, or delete in bulk.
- Refresh all metadata — one menu action re-fetches every book in the background on the server (politely rate-limited), with a live progress bar. Tags, ratings, notes, and photos are never touched.
- Stats — totals, pages, read counts per person, breakdowns by owner/genre/subject/location, and an added-per-month chart.
- Goodreads & StoryGraph import — drop in either service's CSV export and it's detected automatically; shelves map to read status and star ratings land on whoever you're reading as.
- Read-only share link — an unlisted URL (menu → Copy share link) that shows the library without login and without any edit controls.
- Random pick 🎲 — picks a book from whatever filters are active ("random unread fantasy" is one tap).
- Smarter sorting — Title sort ignores leading The/A/An; Author sort uses the first author's last name.
- Home-screen app — a web app manifest so "Add to Home Screen" opens KitBooks fullscreen with a proper icon.
- Scanner flashlight — a 🔦 torch toggle appears on phones that support it.
- Cover lightbox — tap a cover in the book view to see it full-size.
- Owner on cards — the library grid now shows 👤 owner alongside 📍 location.
- This changelog page.
- Backups: CSV export/import now round-trips every field including the cover filename, so a restored database reconnects with restored cover files.
v4
- Owner field — every book can belong to Serengeti or Ethan; set per scan session, shown as a filter and in exports.
- Filter panel — a proper funnel-button panel with owner/subject/location dropdowns and tap-able chips, plus an active-filter count badge and Clear button.
- Genre vs. Subjects — lookup-sourced subjects and your own genre labels became separate fields (v4.2), each with its own chips.
- Include/exclude chips — tap a genre or tag chip once to require it, twice to exclude it (v4.2).
- Themes — six color themes (Warm Brown, Cozy Purple, Forest Green, Rainy Day, Dusty Rose, Slate), each with automatic light/dark variants — and yes, Rainy Day rains.
- No Spoilers mode — hides all descriptions until you turn it off (v4.2).
- Backup & restore — CSV import that skips duplicates and preserves added-dates, pairing with the nightly Google Drive backup (v4.1).
- Refresh became a merge — re-fetching metadata fills gaps but never overwrites or blanks fields you've curated, and never discards covers or hand-taken photos (v4.1.1–v4.2).
- Smarter lookups — when a scanned edition is sparse, KitBooks walks up to the parent work and across sibling editions, then falls back to Google Books by ISBN and by title+author (v4.1.2).
- Cleaner subjects — foreign-language and catalog-noise subjects are filtered out of lookups (v4.1.1).
- App icon — favicon and a proper home-screen icon (v4.1).
- Fixed the edit form overflowing on narrow phones (v4.1).
v3
- Version badge — the little superscript version next to the app name.
- Location autofill fixed on mobile — replaced the native datalist (which Android Chrome ignores) with the same custom suggestion dropdown tags use.
- Tidy descriptions — long synopses clamp to a sentence boundary near 300 characters with Read more / Show less.
- Real menu — the ⋯ button became an actual dropdown (export, log out) instead of a browser prompt.
v2
- Renamed to KitBooks.
- Read-only book view — tapping a book shows a clean detail page; editing is behind an explicit ✎ Edit button.
- Tag autocomplete — suggests your existing tags as you type, so "signed" never becomes "signd".
- Photo covers — snap a picture of a book that has no cover art; photos are downscaled on the phone before upload and survive metadata refreshes.
- update.sh for one-command server updates.
v1
- The whole thing — scan a barcode with the phone camera (or type an ISBN) and the book is looked up on Open Library with Google Books as fallback: title, author, cover, description, page count, subjects.
- Cover images cached on the server, never hotlinked.
- Library grid with instant search, tag and location filters, and sorting.
- Edit anything; add books manually; delete.
- CSV and JSON export.
- Password login with 90-day sessions, designed to sit behind the household Cloudflare Tunnel.
- Single ~7 MB Go binary + SQLite file, ~13 MB of RAM — happy on a 512 MB VPS.
👕 KitCloset open on its own
v2.7.1 October 2026
- Undo and redo: Ctrl+Z (⌘Z) undoes, Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y redoes; deleting something offers Undo on its note too (it comes back from Recently deleted). In a text box the usual undo still works.
v2.7 October 2026
Share a garment, or your whole wardrobe, with someone else signed in.
- 👥 Share with… on a garment: to see, or to change its details (never put away or delete). ⋯ → Share my wardrobe with…, and Shared with me….
- Saves carry the garment’s version, so a change made elsewhere is never overwritten.
v2.6 October 2026
Someone invited by the admin has a wardrobe of their own.
- Their garments, outfits and worn calendar are theirs; they see nothing of yours, and you nothing of theirs. Everything already here stays the household's.
- Fixed: saving an outfit took five seconds and never moved its updated date. It saves at once now.fix
v2.5.1 September 2026
- An uploaded photo is checked to be a picture, and kept as what it really is.
v2.5 September 2026
- Recently deleted: garments and outfits you delete waits 14 days in KitHub’s new Recently deleted tab, with its photos, notes and places in lists, and Put back returns it where it was.
- Customize tabs in the ⋯ menu: put Wardrobe, Outfits and Calendar in your order and hide the ones you don’t use. It opens on your first one.
- One theme everywhere: with it switched on in KitHub, this app follows KitHub’s theme, unless you choose one of its own here.
v2.4.2 September 2026
- The sort you chose is kept after a reload: the sort, on each device.
KitCloset v2.4.1 September 2026
- Links from KitDB open here. Tapping a garment linked in a KitDB note opens this app on it.
KitCloset v2.4 September 2026
- ? Help at the bottom of the menu the name opens: what every part of KitCloset does, on a phone and on a computer, with what is new at the top.
- A new home-screen icon, drawn to match its dock button, and a complete app manifest, so installing it gives it a window and an icon of its own — including in Vivaldi on Linux.
- The version beside the name now always matches this page. It said v2.3 while the app was v2.3.1.
KitCloset v2.3.1 September 2026
- The rain animation no longer throws when a browser hands back no 2D canvas context. It used to take the theme menu down with it; now it simply declines to run, which is the right outcome for decoration.
KitCloset v2.3 September 2026
Adding an item from a phone now works properly.
Fixed
- Adding one item could create two. A double tap on Save — easy on a touchscreen — sent the request twice. Save is now locked while it is working.fix
- The touch-up editor could crash the browser. Undo kept up to twelve full-resolution snapshots of the photo, which on a normal phone camera is around 800 MB. The history is now limited by memory rather than by number of steps.fix
- Photos are scaled down before anything touches them. A phone hands over 12 megapixels or more; nothing here needs that. Removal is much faster, uploads are smaller, and the editor stays light — the underlying cause of both problems above.fix
- Tapping Done twice on the touch-up editor no longer saves twice.fix
KitCloset v2.2 September 2026
- Touch up a cut-out by hand. After the background is removed, erase anything left behind or paint the original back where too much was taken. Brush size is adjustable and there is an undo, which the original version of this tool did not have.
- A checkerboard behind the canvas so transparency is visible while you work.
KitCloset v2.1 September 2026
- The theme tick follows what you pick, and the rain toggle exists. Both had the same cause: choosing a theme called a function that had never been written, so it threw before rebuilding the menu. The rain animation itself was missing entirely — only the calls to it had landed.fix
- Rainy Day now rains, with an on/off switch in the menu as in the other apps.
- Cleanup after the background-removal troubleshooting: the leftover checks for self-hosted files are gone, since there are no files to look for.
KitCloset v2.0 September 2026
A pass over the details, now the basics work.
Editing an item
- Quick edits are chips, not open fields. Location, acquired, tags, notes and washing each show what they hold and open an editor when tapped, following how KitFlicks handles dates.
- Notes were showing twice. The editable copy and a read-only copy were both rendered.fix
- Washing and care only appears when there is something in it, with a way to add it when there is not. It is also in the full editor.
- Dates read and type as MM-DD-YYYY. They are still stored the other way round so sorting stays correct.
- Tags and location suggest what you already use, and tags stay comma-separated throughout.
Outfits
- The garment picker is grouped by category, so building a look reads top to bottom instead of as a wall of clothes.
Sharing
- A single garment can be shared, alongside a whole wardrobe or one outfit. Each link only ever exposes what it names.
Elsewhere
- Rainy Day has its rain animation, with the same on/off in the menu as the other apps.
- This changelog follows whichever theme you have set instead of always being purple.fix
- The third tab is called Calendar.
KitCloset v1.3.1 September 2026
- The background-removal script is version-stamped, so a browser cannot keep running the previous release's copy after an update.fix
KitCloset v1.3 September 2026
Background removal works, and the server does less than before.
- It works. The library is now used the way it is designed to be, fetching its own runtime and model rather than having them served from here.fix
- About 330 MB freed on the server. The previous approach copied how Libre Closet did it — three sets of files, an import map, and the runtime duplicated into a second directory — and every failure was a path or version problem inside that arrangement. None of it was buying anything.
- Nothing to install and nothing to configure: the toggle in the ⋯ menu is all there is.
KitCloset v1.2.1 September 2026
- Pinned the inference runtime to the version this was built against. Its JavaScript and its WebAssembly binaries are a matched pair, and mixing releases fails at startup with an error that reads like a missing file but is not one.fix
KitCloset v1.2 September 2026
- Background removal works. The removal library asks for its ONNX runtime by name, which a browser cannot resolve on its own — Libre Closet served that runtime as a third set of files and told the page where to find it, and only two of the three were carried over. Both are now in place.fix
- Installing needs one extra step: fetching
onnxruntime-webalongside the library and the models. It is in the README.
KitCloset v1.1.2 September 2026
- "Off" and "broken" no longer look the same. Picking a photo with background removal switched off said "kept the original photo" — exactly what a genuine failure said — so a working feature looked faulty. There are now three distinct outcomes: removed, switched off with a link to turn it on, or failed with the reason.fix
- The setting can no longer be switched off by accident: a non-boolean value is ignored rather than written as "off".fix
KitCloset v1.1.1 September 2026
- The ⋯ menu opens again. It called a function that was never written, so nothing happened at all.fix
- Background removal reports what went wrong instead of quietly keeping the original photo, and says plainly when the module failed to load rather than looking as though the toggle is simply off.fix
KitCloset v1.1 September 2026
A pass over everything raised after the first week.
Colours
- A garment can be several colours. Libre Closet stored them that way and the single dropdown could not show them, so imported colours appeared in the filters as "red, green, gold" and as nothing at all on the item. Colour is now a set of chips, and the filters count each colour separately.fix
- Every colour shows as a dot on the tile, so a multicoloured piece reads at a glance.
Filtering
- Every filter group now excludes as well as includes — tap once for yes, again for no, again to clear. Previously only tags could be excluded.
- Colours and categories are capitalised, and the ones already in the wardrobe were corrected on this update, so "pins" and "Pins" stop being two filters.
Wardrobe
- A location field, shown under the category on each tile with a pin, as in KitBooks. Filterable like everything else.
- Location, acquired, tags, notes and washing are editable straight from the item, without opening the full editor.
Outfits
- Grouped by category and searchable, with much larger tiles that show the pieces together rather than a row of thumbnails.
Calendar
- Tap a day and pick an outfit — no need to find the outfit first.
- Each day shows what was worn, and every entry takes a note you can read and edit from the month view.
- Outfits only. Marking a single garment worn made the month view ambiguous, so that button is gone; outfits still have theirs.
Elsewhere
- The ⋯ menu matches the other Kit apps, with themes listed as swatches rather than one cycling button.
- Background removal is a toggle in that menu rather than a checkbox behind the edit button, and it says so if the model files are not installed instead of silently doing nothing.fix
- Forest is the default theme. The Add button matches the tabs beside it.
KitCloset v1.0.1 September 2026
- The import brings your existing cut-outs across. Libre Closet stored each background-removed photo beside the original; those are removals already done, so repeating them would have been wasted work and the wardrobe would have looked wrong until it finished.import
- The worn calendar imports across Libre Closet versions that name its date column differently.import
KitCloset v1.0 September 2026
A rebuild of Libre Closet, which did the job well but used most of the server's memory.
The wardrobe
- Garments with photo, category, colour, brand, size, date acquired, tags, notes and washing details.
- Larger tiles than the other Kit apps, and photos are never cropped — clothes need to be seen.
- Archive anything retired. Hidden by default, kept for the record, and still searchable.
- Filter by category, colour, brand, size and tags, with tag exclusion on a third tap as in the other apps.
Background removal
- Kept exactly as it was. It runs in your browser, not on the server — which is what made the rebuild possible at all, since the model never touches the server's memory.
- Toggle it per upload or turn it off entirely. If it fails for any reason the original photo is saved unchanged.
- The cut-out is used everywhere it exists, with the original kept as a fallback.
Outfits and the calendar
- Outfits as named collections, built by tapping garments. Deleting one never touches the clothes.
- Worn calendar — a month view of what was worn when, from either an outfit or a single garment, with per-garment wear counts.
Sharing
- Share the whole wardrobe or a single outfit, read-only and without a login.
- Choose what a link includes: brand and size, notes, washing details. Prices, acquisition dates and outfit membership are never shared.
Notes
- One shared wardrobe. The household owns the clothes together, so there is no per-person split.
- Your Libre Closet data imports once into a clean database. The original is only ever read, never written to.import

v1.10.2 October 2026
- Undo and redo: Ctrl+Z (⌘Z) undoes, Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y redoes; deleting something offers Undo on its note too (it comes back from Recently deleted). In a text box the usual undo still works.
v1.10.1 October 2026
- A meal planned with an archived recipe no longer shows in KitPlan.
v1.10 October 2026
- Planned meals show in KitPlan, at a usual time for each meal, and ticking one there logs it as cooked.
v1.9 October 2026
Your meal plans can appear in your calendar app through KitHub's private feed.
- The meals you can see — your own kitchen's and any cookbook shared with you — show as all-day events for the two months ahead.
- A plan without a title uses its note instead; a blank one is left out.
v1.8 October 2026
Share a recipe, or your whole cookbook, with someone else signed in.
- 👥 Share with… on a recipe: they can see it, or change its text, ingredients and steps (never delete it). ⋯ → Share my recipes with… lets them look through all of them.
- Shared with me… in ⋯ opens what others have shared with you.
- Every save carries the recipe’s version: a change made elsewhere meanwhile is reloaded, never overwritten.
v1.7 October 2026
Someone invited by the admin has a cookbook of their own.
- Their recipes, meal plan, shopping list and cupboard are theirs; they see nothing of yours, and you nothing of theirs. Everything already here stays the household's, shared by the two of you as before.
- Share links stay the household's for now.
v1.6.1 September 2026
- Importing from a web address can no longer reach this server or the home network.
- An uploaded picture is checked to be a picture, and kept as what it really is.
- The export now carries your aisle corrections, and importing puts them back.
v1.6 September 2026
- Recently deleted: recipes, with their ingredients, steps and photo you delete waits 14 days in KitHub’s new Recently deleted tab, with its photos, notes and places in lists, and Put back returns it where it was.
- Customize tabs in the ⋯ menu: put Recipes, Plan and List in your order and hide the ones you don’t use. It opens on your first one.
- One theme everywhere: with it switched on in KitHub, this app follows KitHub’s theme, unless you choose one of its own here.
v1.5 September 2026
The iPhone Share button: send a recipe from Safari to KitCook.
- On an iPhone, set up once in Shortcuts (the steps are under Import → The KitCook button), then on any recipe in Safari tap Share → Send to KitCook and 📋 Paste from clipboard. It sends the recipe from Safari, for sites that refuse KitCook, such as Allrecipes and Food Network.
- Nothing is saved until you check the recipe and save it.
v1.4 September 2026
The KitCook button: recipes from Allrecipes, Food Network and other sites that refuse KitCook.
- Some sites refuse KitCook’s request for a page whatever it says it is. The KitCook button, rebuilt, sends the recipe from your browser instead, which they do show, and KitCook opens with it ready to check.
- On a computer, iPhone or Android: Import shows how to set it up on each, with Copy the button for phones.
- If a site stops the page being handed over, it is on your clipboard and the paste box opens for it.
v1.3.2 September 2026
- The sort you chose is kept after a reload: the sort, on each device.
KitCook v1.3.1 September 2026
- Links from KitDB open here. Tapping a recipe linked in a KitDB note opens this app on it.
KitCook v1.3 September 2026
- ? Help at the bottom of the menu the name opens: what every part of KitCook does, on a phone and on a computer, with what is new at the top.
- A new home-screen icon, drawn to match its dock button, and a complete app manifest, so installing it gives it a window and an icon of its own — including in Vivaldi on Linux.
- Fixed: with KitCook installed from KitHub on Android, sharing a recipe page to it opened the hub instead of KitCook.
KitCook v1.2.1 September 2026
- KitCook’s saved settings are its own. Through KitHub it shared its theme, rain and view settings with KitCloset, so changing one changed the other. The plan view, units and running timers carry over; the theme and view start from their defaults once.
KitCook v1.2 September 2026
The other half of planning: what there is, as opposed to what day it is.
- Plan has two views now — Calendar and On hand. The calendar answers what we are having on Thursday. On hand answers what we have got, which is the question when the freezer is full of things nobody scheduled.
- Anything with a count. Five tins of soup, two portions of lasagne in the freezer. Either a recipe from the cookbook or just what it says on the tin — no dates, because giving five tins of soup a Tuesday would be inventing one.
- Tap “Had one” as you go and the count comes down, with a row of pips so you can read what is left at a glance with the cupboard door open. Putting one back works too, and neither can take the count past its own ends.
- Restocking asks how many are left, not how many there have been altogether — the first you can answer by looking.
- The cupboard goes into the export with everything else, and a portion tied to a recipe goes when that recipe does.
KitCook v1.1 September 2026
Polish, and a shopping list that knows its way round the shop.
- The list is grouped by aisle. Produce, bakery, meat and fish, and so on, in the order a shop is usually walked — one lap instead of four. The guess comes from the ingredient name.
- Wrong guesses are one tap to fix, and only once. Tap the aisle beside a line and pick another; it is remembered against that ingredient, so every list after it lands in the right place.
- Tick boxes match the theme, and are big enough to hit with a thumb while holding a basket.
- Lines with no unit no longer read “1 chicken”.
- The KitCook button is hidden for now. It opened a blank tab and failed to fill it — the clipboard write finishes too late to still count as the click that permitted it. Pasting the link works, so it can wait. Nothing was removed; un-hiding one block turns it back on.
KitCook v1.0 September 2026
The last of what it was meant to do. Everything agreed at the start is now in.
The KitCook button
- A bookmarklet for the pages that fight back. Drag it to your bookmarks bar; on any recipe page, click it. It copies the page as your browser sees it — after the site’s own scripts have run, and while you are logged in to it — and opens KitCook ready to read it.
- This is the case a fetch from the server can never reach: a publisher that blocks anything that is not a browser, a page built after it loads, or one behind a subscription you pay for.
- It copies rather than posts, deliberately. Posting straight here would mean this app accepting requests from every recipe site on the internet, and either a session cookie loosened for all seven Kit apps or a second credential living in your bookmarks bar. One paste is the cheaper price.
- The paste box now knows what it has been given. Page markup goes to the layers that can read the structured data underneath; plain text still gets the best guess. Pasting markup used to throw the good half away.
- Share to KitCook from an Android phone, where a bookmarks bar is not much use. That only passes the link, which is enough for most sites.
Elsewhere
- Timers survive a reload, and the phone locking. They are kept against the time they are due rather than the seconds left, so coming back to the page finds them where they should be and drops the ones that have long since gone off.
- “What we’ve been cooking”, in the menu: the whole log, newest first, and what gets made most. A different question from what is in the cookbook, and usually a more surprising answer.
KitCook v0.3 September 2026
Mostly repairs. Two of these were defects in v0.2 and one of them was a leak.
Fixed
- Share links no longer leak the cooking log. v0.2 added the log to what a recipe sends without adding it to what a share link withholds — the page never drew it, but the data was there for anyone who looked at the link’s raw response. There is now a tick-box for it alongside notes, rating and nutrition, and it is off unless you turn it on.
- The export is a backup again. It now carries the cooking log, the meal plan and the shopping list. In v0.2 it carried only recipes, so restoring quietly lost every note about how something actually went.
- Library pictures are square. They were meant to be in v0.2; the rule was there but the photo overrode it, so a tall photo still made a tall tile.
- Every meal in the calendar reads the same. Dinner was laid out differently from breakfast and lunch. A meal now shows a heading only when it has something in it, with one consistent row of add buttons underneath.
- Planning a recipe the library had filtered out now scales properly. It was being planned with no serving count, so the shopping list quietly did not scale it.
- Deleting a recipe clears what it wanted off the shopping list. Its planned meals went, but the ingredients stayed until the next regenerate.
New
- Filter by ingredient — "made with", in the filter panel. Several at once, and all of them have to match, which is the question you ask standing in front of the fridge. It looks at the parsed ingredient first and the written line second, so it still finds things on a line the parser could not read.
Under it
- The shopping list has had four bugs across two releases and every one was found by hand. It now has tests: scaling, merging, generating twice, adding a second week, removing a meal, deleting a recipe, and leaving alone what you have already ticked.
- Restoring a backup is idempotent, including the log and the plan, and survives the recipe ids being different in the database it is restored into.
KitCook v0.2 September 2026
The cookbook used forwards: a plan for the week, a list for the shop, and a record of what actually got made.
Planning
- A fortnight at a time, Monday first. Breakfast and lunch appear once you use them; dinner is always there.
- Entries do not have to be recipes. "Takeaway" and "Leftovers" are real answers to what’s for dinner, and a calendar that cannot hold them gets abandoned by the second week.
- Plan a recipe for tonight straight from its page.
The shopping list
- Built from the plan, then yours. Generating copies what the planned recipes need onto the list; after that you can add, edit and tick freely, because half of what ends up on a shopping list was never in a recipe.
- Scaled and merged. A pudding planned for eight when the recipe serves four counts double, and the dates it wants join the dates the flapjacks want.
- Merging is deliberately cautious. Cups and grams of the same thing stay apart, because adding them needs to know its density, and red onion never becomes onion.
- Generating twice changes nothing. Each line records which planned meals wanted it and how much, so running it again recomputes rather than doubling — and taking a meal off the plan takes its ingredients off the list.
- What you have ticked is left alone. A bought line is never rewritten, and regenerating the week after the shop does not put everything you carried home back on the list.
Made it
- Log the date, who cooked, and how it went. The note is the point — "too salty, half the soy next time" is the most valuable thing a household cookbook holds, and the thing most reliably lost.
- The log sits under the recipe, newest first.
Importing
- Two more ways in. Pages that mark their recipe up the older way (microdata) now work, as do the big WordPress recipe plugins, and a plain blog with an "Ingredients" heading and a list.
- Four layers, tried in order, and each can decline. A page whose structured data is an empty stub — which happens when a plugin writes the block before the content loads — now falls through to the markup instead of importing a recipe with no ingredients.
- Still no second dependency. Reading markup properly needs to know where elements begin and end, which pattern matching cannot do, so there is a small tokenizer instead.
Elsewhere
- Library pictures are square.
KitCook v0.1 September 2026
A cookbook for the house. Paste a link, keep the recipe, cook from it without the screen going dark.
Getting recipes in
- Paste a link and it reads the recipe. Title, picture, ingredients, method, times, servings, tags and whatever nutrition the site published, taken from the structured data most recipe sites already publish for Google.
- Paste the page instead when a site refuses. A few publishers block anything that is not a browser, and some build the page after it loads. Copying the page and pasting it in reads the same recipe without the fetch. Nothing is saved until you have looked it over.
- Nothing is saved automatically. Every import lands in the editor first, so a bad reading costs a correction rather than a bad record.
- Type a recipe in by hand, for the ones that came from a person rather than a page.
Cooking from them
- Cook mode keeps the screen on. One step at a time, ingredients beside it, arrow keys or the buttons to move. The screen stays awake while it is open and lets go when you leave.
- Timers start from the step that mentions them. "Bake for 25 minutes" becomes a button; several can run at once, and they ring and buzz when they are up.
- Scale by servings or by ½×, 2× and 3×. A parenthetical second measurement —
1 cup (200 g)— scales with the first, so the two never stop agreeing. - Switch between metric and US. Volumes and weights convert within their own kind; cups do not become grams, because that needs to know what is in the cup.
- Tap an ingredient to strike it out as you go. Ticks carry between the recipe page and cook mode.
Keeping them
- One shared cookbook — a rating is the household's rating, not one each.
- Half-star ratings, notes, favourites and a "to try" list, in the grid and in the list view.
- Search runs over the ingredients as well as the titles and notes, so "the one with buttermilk in it" is findable.
- Filter by course, cuisine, tags or total time. Tap a chip to include it, tap again to exclude it.
- Share the whole cookbook or a single recipe as a read-only link, choosing whether the notes, the rating and the nutrition go with it.
- Print a recipe, scaled to whatever you set on screen.
- Hotlink the source's picture, or upload your own and KitCook keeps it.
- Export the lot as JSON, and restore it the same way.
- The six Kit themes and the rain, opening on Rainy Day with the animation off.
Known limits
- Sites without structured data need the paste box. Reading the markup directly — which would cover most of the rest — is the next release.
- Nutrition is whatever the source claimed, per serving, and is not rescaled. It is as accurate as their recipe plugin was. Every figure can be corrected by hand.
- The parser reads a written ingredient line into a quantity, a unit and an item. When it cannot, the line is kept exactly as written and simply does not scale — which is visible, unlike a line scaled wrongly.
- No meal planner or shopping list yet. Both are next.
📓 KitDB open on its own
v3.18.5 October 2026
- A to-do list on each project’s page. Give one a due day and it is in KitPlan too (calendar, planner, To-do), and ticking it there ticks it here. (Cards on a project’s boards with due days were already in KitPlan.)
- What you had open stays open: go to Notes and back to Projects, or to another project and back, and the item you were in opens again (until you close it yourself).
- Lane descriptions in two lengths: a line under the lane, and a fuller one that shows when you add to or edit a card in that lane, as a reminder of what belongs there. Both from the lane’s Description.
- A friendlier card editor in the Outline: in the middle of the screen, with Where, Runs to and Lane labelled, the lane’s reminder at the top, and Done where you expect it.
- Drag things into a project’s folders: click and drag on a computer, or hold and drag on a phone; drop one on the project itself to take it out of its folder. A folder’s ⋯ renames it, changes its icon or deletes it, and each item in the sidebar has its ⋯ too, with Move to folder.
- The formatting bar sits in its place under the title, and pins to the top only once you scroll past it (no empty gap at the top of a note).
- Folders in projects: 📁 New folder on a project, then Move to from anything in it. The side panel and a phone’s project page show each folder with what is in it; the Notes tab’s folders stay its own.
- Undo and redo: Ctrl+Z (⌘Z) undoes, Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y redoes; deleting something offers Undo on its note too (it comes back from Recently deleted). In a text box the usual undo still works.
v3.18.4 October 2026
- A link in a note to another app opens in a peek over the page on a computer, the whole thing; on a phone it opens in its tab, with ‹ Back to return.
- The formatting bar stays at the top of the screen while you write, wherever you scroll (it used to stop partway down in a project’s note); ▴ hides it and ▾ Format brings it back.
- On a phone, a project opens on what is in it (drafts, characters, boards, notes) to open; + New makes something.
- Find an emoji (☺) beside a folder’s or a note’s icon: search by name or everyday words; it is used as soon as you pick it.
v3.18.3 October 2026
- Link to your journal entries from a note: KitJournal entries are found by their titles in the link search (yours only).
- Tab types a tab in everything you write, not only Drafts: a project’s notes, characters and any page.
v3.18.2 October 2026
- Behind the scenes: feed articles over two years old are let go, unless you saved, highlighted or queued one, linked it to a note, or are part way through listening to it; read marks that old go too. Before, every article ever fetched was kept, and busy feeds add thousands a year.
v3.18.1 October 2026
- Fixed: cards on boards in an archived project showed on the KitPlan calendar and were sent as reminders. An archived project’s boards, and anything in the trash, are left out; unarchive it and they come back.
v3.18 October 2026
Board cards and People actions with a due date remind you on your phone.
- At 8am the day before and 8am on the day, your own time, when KitHub is set up with ntfy. Tapping the notification opens the board or the person.
- Complete cards and done actions are never sent; a new due date is reminded again.
- Your birthdays, renewals, due dates and Kitsta post dates appear on your KitPlan calendar. Ticking a card there moves it to Complete; ticking a People action marks it done.
v3.17 October 2026
KitDB's birthdays, anniversaries and renewals can now appear in your calendar app through KitHub's private feed.
- Your own birthdays and anniversaries, and a partner's, appear each year; each active subscription appears at its next renewal, moving forward as it renews.
- Only what you can already see is offered, and the yearly review reminder stays out of the calendar, which lists renewals only.
v3.16 October 2026
KitDB's reminders can reach your phone through KitHub's notifications.
- When the KitHub you use is set up with ntfy, birthdays, anniversaries, subscription renewals and the yearly review are sent to each person's own phone, once, on the day. The words are the same as the banner's, without gift ideas or notes.
- While notifications are on, the browser banner no longer shows, so you are not told twice.
v3.15 October 2026
Someone invited by the admin and given KitDB gets a KitDB of their own, made the first time they open it.
- KitDB's own sharing stays between the two of you for now.
v3.14 October 2026
KitDB signs in with KitHub's own sign-in now: one Auth0 sign-in, on the hub, opens KitDB and every app.
- Sign in once more, on the hub. KitDB still opens only to an Auth0 sign-in, never the household password.
- Your devices list, and Sign out every device, cover every sign-in to the hub.
v3.13.1 October 2026
- Fixed: after a restore from backup, which leaves out the Feeds cache, putting your feeds back could attach a feed to another feed’s articles or to none, mark new articles read, or show a new article in place of one you saved. Every feed now comes back as itself and starts unread, and saved, highlighted and linked articles stay themselves.
v3.13 October 2026
Any note, board or character can wear an icon of its own.
- 🎨 Icon…, in anything’s ⋯ menu, gives it any emoji you like — from the grid, or typed or pasted in, exactly like a folder’s. It shows in the panel’s item rows, in the lists, and in the properties row while it is open; Back to brings the plain one for its kind back.
- An icon is filed, not saved: it makes no new version, never conflicts with a save on another device, and works offline like pinning and moving.
- Only the owner can change it — a note shared with you keeps its owner’s icon, and you see it, but cannot change it.
v3.12.1 October 2026
- A character’s quick look, from the Matrix beside the Draft, shows everything written on their sheet, in full and under the sheet’s own headings: the profile, the character map, how the urge shows up, their view of each central theme and of each other character. Empty fields are left out.
v3.12 October 2026
A Matrix that writes into the Draft, and stretches.
- Add scenes and chapters from the Matrix. + beside any scene or chapter adds one after it, + Scene and + Chapter add one at the end, and each goes into the Draft as a heading with the name you type, in the right place.
- Entries across several scenes or chapters. Drag an entry’s right edge across, or choose Runs to… in it; it is drawn as one bar, and keeps its length when moved.
- Lane descriptions: a line under a lane’s name saying what it follows, from its ⋯.
- A quick look at what an entry links to, from the Matrix beside the Draft: tap a character and see its picture, role, description and core urge without leaving your writing.
v3.11.1 October 2026
- On an iPhone, + Stat on a person’s record opens its list again, as a sheet from the bottom of the screen. On any phone wider than 380 points it opened below the page, out of sight. Every stat was there all along.
v3.11 October 2026
Organise and delete offline.
- Filing a note in a folder or project, tagging, pinning, and Pin to home or Notes now work with no connection, and are sent with your other changes when it is back, in the order you made them.
- So do making, renaming, moving and deleting folders and tags (a folder or tag made offline can be used at once), renaming or archiving a project, and moving to the trash, restoring and deleting for good.
- The change shows at once, and still shows if you reload while offline.
v3.10.1 October 2026
- Subscriptions, the budget and Kitsta can be read offline too, as they last were on the device, now that KitHub keeps saved copies.
v3.10 October 2026
Priorities that sort themselves, and completed cards you can open.
- A board’s columns keep High cards at the top and Low at the bottom. Setting a card to High moves it to the top of its column, Low to the bottom; moving a card to another column, restoring it from Completed, or adding one puts it in its place too.
- Dragging still orders cards as you like within High, Medium or Low; a card dropped outside its own goes to the nearest edge of it.
- A board opens with any High cards already on top.
- See a completed card: tap its name in ✓ Completed for its labels, priority, checklist, attachments, link and notes, read only, with Restore beside them.
v3.9 October 2026
Subscriptions, and your budget.
- 🔁 Subscriptions, a new tab: name, amount, how often and since when, with trials, pausing, cancelling (kept, with what it has saved), your share of a shared one, price history and how to cancel.
- Reminders on KitHub’s banner before a renewal or a trial’s end, as far ahead as you choose for each.
- Overview of your month and year, what is due soon and your categories; Upcoming, a year month by month; and set-asides for yearly and quarterly ones.
- Budget: income and Needs, Wants and Savings lines against 50/30/20, with Subscriptions filling itself in, and a monthly cap for subscriptions.
- Yearly review: keep, downgrade or cancel each, one at a time, once a year.
- A project with exactly one item pinned opens on that item when you choose it.
v3.8 October 2026
A main board in Notes, and priorities.
- 📌 Pin to Notes, on anything in a project: it is listed in the Notes panel under From projects and on Home under Pinned, and opens there, without going to Projects. Tap it again to take it out.
- Priority on a board’s cards: Low, Medium or High, in the open card beside Due. Every card is Medium, as before, and shows nothing; High is marked ▲ in red and Low ▽, quieter.
v3.7 October 2026
Cards that open things.
- Link a whole card to a project or to anything in KitDB: type / in a card’s title or in + Add a card and pick. Tapping the card opens what it points at; ✎ opens the card. A main board of projects is now one tap from each.
- The link search finds projects, in notes too, and says which project something is in rather than “Inbox”.
- A board shared with you to read now opens its cards when tapped.
- A board’s card links count for Linked from, and show in its Markdown and Word exports.
v3.6 October 2026
Complete cards, a panel that stays, and clearing out unused tags.
- Complete, for a board’s cards: not a column, a status. A completed card leaves the board for ✓ Completed (N) above the columns, where you can look through them and Restore one to the column it came from.
- The panel stays beside the page on a computer, in every tab: no more Hide this panel, and no ☰. Focus, in a draft, still puts it away. A panel you had hidden is back. On a phone it slides in as before.
- Manage tags puts the tags no note carries under Not on any note, with one button to delete them all after a look at their names.
- Each tag says where it is used, counting notes in the trash and in projects. A tag only those carry is kept, so restoring a note brings its tags back with it.
- On a phone, each tag in Manage tags has its name on one line and its buttons under it, rather than squeezed beside them.
v3.5 October 2026
- KitDB can be People alone, birthdays and all, signed in by KitHub’s own password: how it runs in a guest’s KitHub.
- Ctrl K opens KitHub’s command bar here too, which finds notes, instead of KitDB’s older switcher as well.
v3.4.1 October 2026
- Birthdays in Notes: the panel’s Birthdays opens right there, so the People tab can stay hidden. Add a birthday with just a name and a date, change it, and keep its gift ideas and reminders.
- Fixed: Kitsta’s profile, post and highlight windows were cut off by the dock at the bottom. The dock now steps aside, and the back button closes them, as everywhere else.
v3.4 October 2026
Kitsta: plan an Instagram profile, and see a post on the grid before you post it.
- Kitsta, a new tab: your profile as it looks (picture, name, bio, link, counts, highlights) with posts, carousels and reels on a 3:4 grid, or the old square one.
- Drafts sit beside what is already up, marked; arrange them by dragging or with arrows; pin up to three. Tap where each photo’s tile should centre and see the crop.
- Open a post to see it as it will look, carousel and caption and all, then mark it posted, pin it or delete it.
- Private to you, like the rest of KitDB. Photos are made smaller in your browser before they are saved.
v3.3 September 2026
Likes, stories, quotes you can change, and people pinned to the top.
- + Like beside Favorite and Dislike: “Liked music: jazz”. Likes sit between the favorites and the dislikes, and Edit turns any of them into another.
- Stories, at the bottom of a record (📖 Story in Add to): a title, when it was in your own words (“summer 2019”, “the wedding”), and the story, as long as it needs, with its line breaks. Edit changes one in place. Stories are found by the search and are in the exported text.
- Quotes can be changed: tap a quote for its words, or its context to change or clear it; + context adds one it lacks.
- Pin people to the top of People: ☆ on their card or ☆ Pin in their record. Pinned people come first whichever way the list is sorted, and nothing in their record changes.
v3.2 September 2026
Bring your iPhone contacts into People, remember where you met, and favorites kept in order.
- Import contacts in People: export contacts from the iPhone’s Contacts as a .vcf file (Share Contact → Save to Files) and choose it. Names, birthdays, phones, emails, addresses, job, Instagram, Mom, Dad, siblings, anniversaries, notes and photos come across. Each contact is matched to someone you have by name, phone or email, and you choose New, Update or Skip for each before anything changes. An update only adds; it never overwrites what you wrote.
- Where you met, a new stat with the places: typed like an address, with suggestions as you type, and a map.
- Favorites first, then dislikes, always: adding, switching or dragging one keeps them grouped, and ↑ ↓ move a favorite within its own group.
- Customize tabs in the ⋯ menu: Notes, People, Projects and Feeds in your order, and hide the ones you don’t use.
- Your Trash in KitHub’s Recently deleted, in a browser signed in to KitDB, with Put back and Delete now. KitDB’s Trash still keeps things until you empty it.
- One theme everywhere: with it switched on in KitHub, KitDB follows KitHub’s theme, unless you choose one of its own here.
v3.1 September 2026
Crop people’s photos, tidier stats and favorites, and an iPhone Share button for Feeds.
- Cropping a photo: a new photo opens in a round frame to drag and zoom before it is kept, and Crop the photo (tap the photo) crops it again later from the whole of the original, not only what was left.
- Stats and favorites read as clean text that wraps, with their Call, Write, Open and Map links; Edit on either brings the boxes and the ↑ ↓ ✕ to rewrite, move and remove them (a favorite can also become a dislike). Adding a stat opens its Edit. The list of stats to add scrolls on a phone and sits above the dock.
- 💤 in Comms, after 👻.
- A car is plain text now: the list of makes and models is gone.
- Mom and Dad in the stats, as many of each as there are, each linkable to their own record; a job has a position and a company, and reads “Landscape architect at Field & Frame”.
- The iPhone Share button: set up once in Shortcuts (the steps are under Read a link), then on any article in Safari tap Share → Send to KitDB and 📋 Paste the page. It sends the article from Safari, for sites that refuse KitDB.
v3.0.1 September 2026
- Removing highlights wherever they are listed, not only by tapping one in the article: ✕ on each in an article’s ⋯ → Highlights, with Remove all highlights there; Remove beside each highlight whose words are no longer in the article (these had no way to be removed at all); and Remove its highlights on each article in the Highlights view.
v3.0 September 2026
People: a record for everyone in your life, with their birthday, gift ideas, what to do for them, and everything worth remembering.
- A People tab beside Notes, with its own panel: All people, Birthdays, Action items, and folders for Friends, Family, New Friends, Acquaintances and Enemies. Search finds anyone by anything in their record, and Filter narrows by how things stand, partners, media buddies, open action items, a birthday coming up or any stat.
- Each record holds comms and love statuses, a photo, action items with dates and priorities, the birthday with its reminders and gift ideas (bought, then given, then kept in the gift history), notes in the full editor, favorites and dislikes, quotes, and stats: from a job and an address to shoe size and blood type, added only as you need them. Partners get date ideas and an anniversary; media buddies get your shared KitFlicks and KitTunes lists.
- Birthdays moved into People. Everyone on the Birthdays note is now a person in Unsorted, with their gift ideas and reminders, and the banner on every page reads people’s records, including a partner’s anniversary. The old note is kept, off Home, with its history.
- Read a link in Feeds: paste an article’s address to read it once, or save it for later, where it is an article like any other: highlights, Listen, Send to a note. The KitDB button sends a page from your browser, for sites that will not let KitDB in.
- Letting go of audio: Listening shows what each article’s audio is kept on this device and on the server, and removes either, one article or all at once. Feeds settings do the same for the server.
- Notes in a project no longer take tags. Tags a note already had are kept, unseen, and come back if it leaves the project.
- People are private to each of you and are never shared. Each has a Markdown copy in the nightly backup, without a phone passcode or license number.
v2.2 September 2026
The Matrix, beside the writing.
- Timelines are now Matrices, and a Draft can show its Matrix beside the writing: Matrix above the Draft, where the Outline goes. It shows one column at a time, the scene or chapter the cursor is in, and follows you as you write. Add, rename, move and delete entries right there.
- Tab types a tab in a Draft, to indent a line, instead of leaving the editor. Lists and tables keep their own Tab. A Word export keeps it as a real tab.
- On a computer the bar above a Draft (Notes, Outline, Matrix, Focus, History) now stays in view with the formatting bar as you scroll, and the dock at the bottom steps aside while you write.
- Points of your own (Day 1, Year 12…) are no longer offered for a new Matrix; one that already has them keeps them. A new Matrix without a Draft runs by date.
v2.1 September 2026
- The rain pauses while you read. On the Rainy Day theme, opening an article in Feeds stops the rain, and closing it, however it is closed, starts it again.
- Starting the rain no longer adds another listener each time, which mattered once it started with every article.
KitDB v2.0.4 September 2026
- Fixed: a picture at the top of some articles stayed stuck to the top as you scrolled, on a phone and a computer, and on a computer it covered the reader’s bar. The site had wrapped it in a header of its own, which took KitDB’s top-bar style; it now scrolls with the article.
- The reader’s bar (Listen, Full article and the rest) slides away as you read down and comes back when you scroll up on a computer too, not only on a phone.
- While an article is open, the ▼ that brings back KitDB’s top bar and its tabs is hidden: the reader’s bar is the only one.
- The reader’s bar stays on one line. When its buttons do not fit, it scrolls sideways on its own, with a fade at the end that has more, instead of wrapping or pushing the whole article sideways. A wide table or code block in an article scrolls in its own box too.
- Always fetch the full article, for every feed, in Feeds settings, on top of each feed’s own switch.
- Refresh all feeds in the panel, and Shift+R, check every feed at once, whatever the river shows. It says how many could not be reached, and a refresh cut short no longer marks the feeds it had not got to as failing.
- Fewer “this feed has moved”: a feed whose address moves on the same site (http to https, with or without www, a new path) now just takes the new address, keeping its articles and read marks. Only a move to another site is still offered, and its note now says the feed still works meanwhile.
KitDB v2.0.3 September 2026
- On a phone, an open article no longer has KitHub’s ✕ in the top corner. ‹ Back and the back button close it, and the reader’s bar gets that corner back, so its ⋯ is no longer half under the ✕.
KitDB v2.0.2 September 2026
- A ⋯ on every note in the list, on a phone and a computer: Share, both pins, Move to folder, Export and Move to trash, for that note, without opening it. On a note shared with you it says only its owner can file it. The trash keeps Restore and Delete for good.
- Fixed: on a phone, KitHub’s ✕ covered the ⋯ at the end of an open note’s bar. The bar now stops short of it.
- A menu near the bottom of the screen opens upward instead of running off it.
KitDB v2.0.1 September 2026
- Fixed: Fish Audio read each paragraph of an article in a different voice. It lists no voices, and with none it makes up a new speaker for every request, which is every paragraph. Listening settings now take a voice ID for it (the part after
/m/in a voice’s fish.audio address), starting with Fish’s own “Energetic Male”, and send it with every paragraph. Anything that is not an ID is refused.
KitDB v2.0 September 2026
Feeds, complete: a reader for everything you follow, beside your notes.
- All of it, in one place: the Feeds tab follows RSS, Atom and JSON feeds and finds them from any address; reads articles cleaned, with pictures and the full text; keeps Saved and Favorites; highlights with notes, sent to a note if you like; links articles from notes; and reads articles aloud in KitHub’s player, with a queue.
- Offline: river pages and articles seen on this device read with no connection, every Saved article is kept ready, and reading, saving, highlighting and the queue work offline and send when the connection is back.
- Keep an article’s audio on this device (its ⋯), to listen with no connection.
- Settings (at the bottom of Feeds’ panel) now also say how far back the river goes, 30, 60 or 90 days, and how long made audio is kept for articles nothing else keeps. Old audio is tidied away by itself.
- KitHub’s dashboard shows your Feeds numbers: unread, saved to read, read this week and minutes listened.
- Polish: the settings’ layout, cards with long feed names on a phone, and Listening’s list. Marking something read sends only what changes.
- The listening test page is gone: the player does everything it tested.
KitDB v1.1.6 September 2026
Listening.
- 🎧 Listen to any article, read aloud in the voice you choose. Made once, then free to play again, on any device.
- It plays in KitHub’s player, on top of the dock in every app, tucking into KitDB’s icon while you are elsewhere, with the lock screen’s and headphones’ controls.
- The paragraph being read is marked; tap any paragraph to play from it. Where you stopped is kept.
- Listening, in the panel: a queue that plays one after another, the next made while the one before plays.
- Listening settings: voices with samples and prices, speed, your own cap and an “ask first” amount, and this device’s own voice for free.
KitDB v1.1.5 September 2026
- Fixed: with a Draft’s outline open, the whole page moved in from every edge — which looked like a zoom when switching to the Draft — and the lines under the top bar and beside the panel stopped short of the screen’s edges. The Draft’s scene headings were also shrunk to small capitals. One class name was doing two jobs; it now does one.
- On a phone, the reader’s bar is one line of short buttons.
KitDB v1.1.4 September 2026
Highlights and notes.
- Highlight any words in an article, in four colours, with a note if you like. Tap a highlight to edit its note, change its colour or remove it. Highlights find their place again if an article changes a little.
- Highlights, in the panel, lists every article you have highlighted. A highlighted article is kept for good.
- Send to a note turns an article’s highlights into a note, with a link back to it; sending again adds the new ones.
- Feeds and folders move up and down in their ⋯. A feed that has moved for good is marked ↪ and can be followed to its new address. Sites that turn KitDB away are asked again as an ordinary browser.
- Fixed: Aa and ⋯ in the reader opened and closed again at once.
- Fixed: on a phone the reader sat under KitDB’s top bar and its tabs; it now fills the screen.
- An article’s link in a note opens Feeds on All, not wherever Feeds was left.
- Opening a Draft, another part of a project, or the Draft’s outline no longer zooms: it fades in at its own size.
KitDB v1.1.3 September 2026
- Fixed: tapping an article’s link in a note switched the panel to Feeds but left the Notes list on the page. It now opens the article in the reader, with the river beside it. The same was true of tapping the Feeds tab with a note open.
- On a phone, the reader’s bar slides away as you read down, so the article fills the screen, and comes back as soon as you scroll up.
KitDB v1.1.2 September 2026
The reader.
- Articles open in KitDB: beside the river on a computer, as a sheet on a phone, cleaned so nothing in them can run, with a reading time and pictures.
- Full article (w, or pull down on a phone) fetches the page and takes the story out of it, for feeds that send a teaser. A feed can be set to do it every time.
- Saved (s), a read-later queue with Done, and Favorites (f). Either keeps the article’s text in your own file for good.
- An article is marked read when you reach its bottom.
- Pictures, in articles and on the cards, come through KitDB, so no site learns who reads what or when.
- Search above the river, and Aa for text size, width and letters.
- Link an article from a note: type / and its title. The article lists the notes that link to it.
KitDB v1.1.1 September 2026
- Fixed: every Sixth Tone article showed as a few minutes old. Its feed gives the day without a time (“Sep 24, 2026”), which Feeds did not understand. An article that arrives on its day now shows when it arrived; an older one shows its day. Every feed is fetched again once, so articles already in are put right.
KitDB v1.1.0 September 2026
Feeds: your own feed reader, as a third tab.
- Feeds, beside Notes and Projects: follow feeds, in folders, and read them all together or folder by folder. The server fetches them, so they keep up while every device is closed.
- + Feed takes any address — a feed, a Substack, a blog, a YouTube channel, a subreddit, Medium, Bluesky or Mastodon — finds its feed and shows its latest items first.
- The river: unread or all, newest or oldest first, grouped by day, loading more as you scroll, with Mark all read and ↻ to check now. Keys on a computer: j, k, m, o and r.
- Import from Inoreader and Export as OPML, keeping folders. Ethan’s 36 Inoreader feeds, in their six folders, are already in.
- Each feed is checked about twice as often as it posts, and less after it fails; a feed that has not worked for three days is flagged, with the reason.
- KitDB will not fetch any address on a private or local network, including KitHub’s own.
- Listening cost estimates now use what OpenRouter actually charged: Kokoro is listed at $4 a million characters and charged at $0.62.
- Inside KitHub, the listening test’s player now sits on top of the dock.
KitDB v1.0.4 September 2026
- Fixed: inside KitHub, the dock covered the listening test’s player. Once audio starts, the dock now tucks away to a small tab with a caret, and the player sits just above it.
KitDB v1.0.3 September 2026
A listening test, the first step towards Feeds.
- 🎧 Listening test, in the menu. It has an article read aloud by a voice you choose and plays it here, to check that listening keeps going with your phone locked, with the lock-screen buttons, before Feeds is built around it. It ends with a checklist and Copy results.
- Voices come from OpenRouter, paid per use from prepaid credits. Smaller makers are listed first; xAI, OpenAI and Anthropic are not offered.
- Each of you has a monthly spending cap, $2 unless it is changed on the server. Anything that would pass it is refused before it is made, and what each request actually cost is recorded in your own file and in your export.
- An article is spoken a paragraph at a time and joined into one file, which is what lets a phone keep playing it, and lets you tap a paragraph to hear it.
KitDB v1.0.2 September 2026
- Fixed: opening the sample project’s Writing plan board froze the page. Two of its cards had been stored with no checklist at all, rather than an empty one, and the board could not be drawn. The board is mended when KitHub starts, and nothing on it was lost.
- KitDB now reads every list in a stored document safely, and if something still cannot be shown, it says so in place instead of leaving the page stuck.
KitDB v1.0.1 September 2026
- A sample project for each of you, Sample — The Salt Road, using everything: a Draft in parts, chapters and scenes; three characters with pictures, character maps and views of each other; two central themes with each character’s perspective; a timeline following the Draft by scene, with lanes and linked entries; a Kanban board with labels, due dates, checklists and notes; and notes with lists, a table, a code block and links. Start here, inside it, says what to try. It is yours to change or delete, and will not come back.
- A cleaner project page: the buttons to make things, and the project’s numbers — words in the Draft, how many characters, timelines, boards and notes, what you worked on last and when it began. What is in the project is in the panel, under its ▸, which opens by itself when you open the project.
- A project with characters has a Themes button beside the others, for its central themes and perspectives.
KitDB v1.0 September 2026
Offline — and KitDB is complete.
- Works with no connection. Everything already opened on a device can be read and edited offline, and new notes and items can be made. KitDB opens offline on its own address or its installed app; signing in still needs a connection.
- Nothing typed is lost. Every change is kept on the device first, in an outbox, and leaves it only once the server has confirmed it — so closing the app, losing signal or the phone dying loses nothing. Back online, it all goes, in order.
- Never an overwrite. If something changed elsewhere while a device was offline, that device’s version is kept beside it as a conflicted copy (“Plan — from phone, 14 Oct 3:10pm”), and both stay.
- A line at the top says Offline — 3 changes waiting, then goes once they have gone.
- Signing out of KitDB on a device removes everything it kept there. (If it asks first, it is because some changes have not reached the server yet.)
- Central themes can be written from a project’s first character, and each character’s sheet lists them, for their view of each — which also shows on the Perspectives board, beside how they cope and how they relate to the main character.
- Every field of How the urge shows up has an example to start from.
- Drag entries around a timeline, by mouse, or on a phone by pressing and holding: into any lane at any point. A tap still opens one.
KitDB v0.9 September 2026
Timelines.
- Timelines, in any project, along one axis: the Draft’s scenes or chapters, dates, or points of your own (Day 1, Year 12…). A new one follows the project’s Draft by scene.
- Linked to the Draft. By scene or chapter, the axis is the Draft’s own: reorder the Draft and the timeline follows; move a scene or chapter along the timeline and it moves in the Draft, with everything in it. Tap a scene on the axis to open it in the Draft.
- Lanes across the axis, for plotlines or characters: add, rename, colour, reorder, fold and delete.
- Entries sit in a lane (or none) at a point on the axis: a title and a note, where 📎 links the characters and anything else involved. Entries not yet placed wait at the foot.
- On a phone, a timeline becomes a list down the page, with the axis as headings and lanes as coloured tags.
- Link chips on Kanban cards and timeline entries now show in the linked note’s Linked from.
- The swipe that brings the panel in now works in Projects too.
- On a phone, a note opening slid in twice; it now arrives once.
- The character sheet is more compact, without Aliases, and its picture has a ✕ to remove it.
KitDB v0.8 September 2026
Characters, Perspectives, and their views on each other.
- Characters, in any project, laid out as the Character Map sheet: a profile — picture, name, aliases, role, appearance, description, backstory — then the character map, with the subconscious (the core urge, “In order to survive / get my needs met, I must…”, and where it came from) beside the conscious (the stated belief, the lie, and how the urge shows up in goals, relationships, lifestyle, presentation and dialogue). The fields blend into the page like everything you write in. A project shows its characters as a gallery of pictures, with their roles.
- Perspectives appears in a project once it has two characters: a shared general negative experience at the centre, the main character chosen, and around it every character’s coping strategy and relationship to the main one. + Theme adds another.
- Views on each other: at the foot of each character, what they think of every other character in the project — reached from their page, or from Perspectives.
- Files and photos on Kanban cards: attach any file up to 25 MB, or drop files onto an open card. Photos show as thumbnails and are scaled down first; anything else downloads under its own name. A card shows 📎 and how many.
- A card’s notes have a toolbar: bold, italic, strikethrough, a heading, bullet, numbered and checkbox lists, quotes, code, web links, links to notes and records, pictures, and undo.
- Opening something zooms in a touch, and going back settles out, so the change of layout reads as moving closer.
- Fixed: Kanban boards disappeared from their project’s page and the panel after the page was reloaded. They were always saved; they now show again.
KitDB v0.7 September 2026
Kanban boards.
- Boards, in any project: columns of cards, starting with To do, Doing and Done. Add, rename, reorder and delete columns; type in a column to add a card.
- Move a card by dragging it, or on a phone by pressing and holding it, then moving. A space opens where it will land; the board scrolls sideways when you hold a card near its edge.
- A card opens to its title, its column, a due date (shown in red once it has passed), labels, a checklist, and notes written like any note.
- Labels belong to the board, each with a colour; tap one above the columns to show only its cards.
- A board has History, the trash, sharing, search and exports like everything else.
- In the panel, a project has a caret like a folder, showing everything in it; and one folder, or one project, opens at a time — opening another folds the first. Folders start folded.
- Projects has its own Trash, for items from projects.
- Birthdays no longer stays lit in the panel after you go somewhere else.
- The Birthdays date pickers are the full size of the name box.
- The Draft’s Outline sits in its own column under the header instead of over its corner.
KitDB v0.6 September 2026
Projects, and the first thing in them: the Draft.
- Projects. The Projects tab lists your projects in the panel: add, rename, give an icon, reorder and archive them. A project opens to its items, grouped by kind, with New for another. A new project starts with a Draft.
- The Draft is one long page for the writing itself, made of parts, chapters and scenes — headings you add from the / menu — each with an optional subheading.
- Outline, beside the Draft on a computer and slid in on a phone: every part, chapter and scene with its word count and the total. Tap one to jump to it; drag, or use ↑ ↓, to move it with everything in it.
- Focus fades everything away but the writing, and in the writing everything but the paragraph you are in. Escape, or Leave focus, brings it back.
- Export any note or Draft as Markdown or as a Word file, from its ⋯ menu. In Word, parts, chapters and scenes are headings, so Word’s navigation and contents see them.
- Notes in a project work like any note, and live with the project rather than among your folders. The quick switcher finds them too.
- Birthdays is a button of its own, right under Home, and no longer appears in lists. All notes moves under the Inbox.
- A folder’s page shows its notes; its folders are in the panel only.
- Dropdowns and tick boxes follow the theme.
KitDB v0.5 September 2026
Birthdays, and finding your way round a lot of notes.
- The Birthdays note, pinned to Home for each of you. Add a person with their birthday (the year is optional and gives their age); they are listed by whose comes next. Open someone for their gift ideas — tick them off as they are bought — and their reminders: on the day, a day, three days, a week, two weeks or a month before, or any number of days.
- Reminders on every KitHub page. On a reminder’s day a line appears at the top of the hub and every app until you dismiss it, and comes back at the next reminder. A missed day still shows. Only in your own signed-in browsers, and only names and dates.
- Sort and filter any list. Last edited, newest or oldest, by name either way, longest or shortest; filter by tags, by when a note was made or last edited (today, the last week, month or year, or between two dates), by what is in it — unticked boxes, pictures, links — and by whether it is shared or pinned.
- All notes, in the panel: every note in one list, to sort and filter.
- Tables and code blocks have a bar of their own, on the block, while you are in one: rows, columns, the header row and Remove table; or the code’s language and Not code.
- { } in the toolbar makes a coloured code block (> is for a word of code inside a sentence), and a new block starts in the language you used last, since guessing from a few lines often goes wrong.
- The page you write on runs all the way down to the dock; tap anywhere below the last line to carry on.
- A folder with nothing inside it no longer keeps a gap where the open-and-close arrow would be.
KitDB v0.4 September 2026
Sharing, and some polish.
- Share a note with the other person, to read or to edit: 👥 Share, in the note’s properties or its ⋯ menu. It stays yours, in your folders; they find it under Shared with me. Taking the share away, or putting the note in the trash, ends it at once.
- Who else is here. While a shared note is open, a line at the top says when the other person has it open or is typing in it.
- Their changes come in by themselves. When they save and you have nothing unsaved, their version appears within a few seconds. If you are in the middle of a change, you are asked which to keep instead — never overwritten — and History says who wrote each version.
- The same happens between two of your own devices.
- Pictures in a shared note open for the person it is shared with.
- Folder icons. A folder’s ⋯ → Icon… picks any emoji for it, from a grid or typed in.
- Tables of any size. Point at a grid to choose up to eight by eight, or type any size, with or without a header row.
- Coloured code. Code blocks colour keywords, strings, numbers and comments, in two dozen languages, guessed or chosen from the toolbar.
- The page you write on has no frame round it any more, and no ring when you click into it: it is just the page.
- The Inbox lists notes only; folders are in the panel.
KitDB v0.3 September 2026
Links, pictures and tables.
- The / menu. Type / at the start of a line or after a space for headings, lists, checkboxes, a table, a quote, a divider, a picture, a code block, or a link. Keep typing to narrow it; ↑ ↓ and Enter choose.
- Link to anything. 📎, or Link to… in the / menu, finds a note or a record in any Kit app — a book, film, game, album, recipe, garment or trinket — and puts it in the note as a chip with its picture. Tapping a chip opens it: another note here, or the record in its own app. A chip for something since deleted is struck through rather than lost.
- What links here, at the foot of every note: the notes that link to it.
- Pictures, from 🖼, the / menu, or pasted or dropped straight into a note. Photos are scaled down on the device first. Only you can open them.
- Tables, with buttons to add and delete rows and columns and turn the header row on or off while you are in one.
- Code blocks.
- On a phone the ☰ panel button is on the left, where the panel opens, and a swipe to the right anywhere brings the panel in; a swipe to the left puts it away.
- Backups' Markdown copies carry links, tables and pictures.
KitDB v0.2 September 2026
Notes, properly.
- A real editor. Bold, italic, strikethrough and code; three sizes of heading; bullet, numbered and checkbox lists; quotes, dividers and web links. The toolbar sits above the note on a computer, and rides above the keyboard on a phone. The usual keyboard shortcuts work.
- Title, subtitle and properties. A large title, a lighter subtitle, and a row of chips for the note’s folder, its tags, and its pins.
- Folders inside folders, in a panel on the left: pinned beside the page on a computer, or hidden and slid out when wanted; on a phone it slides in from the left, with ☰ or a swipe from the edge. New notes land in the Inbox, or in the folder you are in. Deleting a folder sends its notes to the Inbox and moves its folders up a level; nothing inside is deleted.
- Tags, typed in or picked from the ones you have. Rename, merge and delete them under Manage tags; the notes follow without being edited.
- Pins. Pin a note to the top of its folder, or to Home, which also lists what you worked on most recently.
- Search and the quick switcher. Ctrl K (⌘K on a Mac), or 🔍 on a phone: pinned and recent notes before you type, and every note’s title, subtitle and text as you do.
- Filing, tagging and pinning are not edits: they never make a new version, and never make a save on another device collide.
- History previews show a version as it looked, formatting and all.
- On a phone a note fills the screen; the ✕ or the back button returns to the list.
- Backups keep each note’s Markdown copy in its folder, with its tags.
- Notes from v0.1 open in the new editor exactly as they were.
KitDB v0.1.1 September 2026
- Fixed: signing in could say the account was not allowed when it was. The allow-list in the server settings now accepts a user id copied from Auth0’s address bar (where the
|shows as%7C), with quotes or the example’s brackets left on, and a name in any case (ethanis Ethan). - When an account really is refused, the server log now says which id tried and which ids are allowed, and at start-up it lists who can sign in.
KitDB v0.1 September 2026
The foundations: signing in, keeping each person's notes apart, and never losing a version.
- Its own sign-in, through Auth0. A KitHub password does not open it. After the first sign-in on a device, Auth0 offers a passkey, so later sign-ins are a fingerprint, a face or the device PIN.
- Sessions last 60 days of not being used, and are checked with Auth0 once a day, so an account switched off there is cut off within a day. See and end them under Signed-in devices.
- Each of you has your own file. Nothing one person writes can be opened by the other.
- Every save is kept. History shows one entry per editing session, with a preview, and Restore saves an old version as a new one, so a restore can be undone too.
- Two devices cannot overwrite each other. A save made on an out-of-date copy is stopped, and you choose which version to keep; both stay in history.
- Trash, with restore. Nothing is deleted until you empty it.
- Notes are plain text for now. The editor, folders, tags and pins come next, and nothing written now needs converting.
- In the nightly backup: both people's files, each person's export, and every note as a Markdown file.
🏃 KitFit open on its own
v1.4.1 October 2026
- Fixed: KitFit’s line on the KitHub dashboard (steps or meals today) went blank in the evening, because it counted the day by the server’s clock rather than yours.
v1.4 October 2026
Someone invited no longer sees the household’s KitCook meals when logging food.
v1.3 October 2026
Someone invited by the admin and given KitFit has a KitFit of their own.
- As yours is, it is theirs alone.
v1.2 October 2026
With KitHub's sign-in, KitFit is yours alone.
- Only you see your days, workouts, food and weight, and only you change them. An export holds only yours.
v1.1 October 2026
The phone bridge: your Garmin’s steps, heart rate, sleep and workouts, in by themselves.
- Phone bridge (Garmin)… in the menu: Garmin Connect, through Health Connect and HC Webhook on Android or Apple Health and Health Auto Export on an iPhone, step by step.
- Steps, average and resting heart rate, sleep, active calories, weight and workouts, on the right day in your time zone.
- What you typed always wins: a different figure from the phone is offered on Today, to use or not.
v1.0.1 October 2026
- Fixed: food search could fail with “could not reach USDA”. It now asks for plain foods and branded ones separately and at once, so a slow branded search no longer sinks the plain ones, and it waits longer.
- When a search does fail, it says why: the key refused, USDA too slow, or USDA’s own message.
- The USDA key is sent in a header rather than in the address, so it never appears in a log.
v1.0 September 2026
A new app for your day: steps, workouts, sleep, heart rate and stress, and what you ate, drank and weighed.
- Today shows only what you have entered, with rings for steps, food and water; add anything in a tap or two, for today or any earlier day.
- Food: search USDA’s database, scan a barcode (Open Food Facts), log a KitCook recipe, or tap tonight’s planned dinner. Macros add up per meal and per day.
- Trends: charts of steps, sleep, heart rate, calories, macros, water and weight, by week, month or year, with BMI from your height.
🎬 KitFlicks open on its own
v2.12.3 October 2026
- Undo and redo: Ctrl+Z (⌘Z) undoes, Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y redoes; deleting something offers Undo on its note too (it comes back from Recently deleted). In a text box the usual undo still works.
v2.12.2 October 2026
- Behind the scenes: answers from TMDB and OMDb are read with a size limit.
v2.12.1 October 2026
- A hidden title’s release day no longer shows in KitPlan.
v2.12 October 2026
- Release days of films and shows on your Want to watch list appear on your KitPlan calendar.
v2.11 October 2026
Share a list, or your whole library to look through, with someone else signed in.
- 👥 Share with… on a list (to see, or to rename and reorder), and ⋯ → Share my library with…. Shared with me… opens what others share with you.
- Someone invited has lists of their own, and sees none of the household’s. Exports are the household’s for now.
v2.10 October 2026
Someone invited by the admin has a library of their own.
- They see only their own library, and you only yours and each other's. "Also in …'s library" only ever names the two of you.
v2.9 October 2026
With KitHub's sign-in, you change only your own library.
- You can still see your partner's library, and copy a title from it into yours; changing or removing theirs is refused.
- Adding a film or show offers your own library only.
v2.8.2 October 2026
- On a phone, swipe left or right on an open record to go to the next or previous one, as ← → do on a computer.
v2.8.1 October 2026
- Fixed: the 10% larger record on a phone, from the last release, broke the layout there. A phone shows a record at its usual size again; a computer keeps the 20%.
v2.8 October 2026
Your reviews, at a glance.
- 📝 beside the stars on a film or show you have written a review of, in the grid, the list and on a list’s rows.
- Filter by My review: Written, or Not written. On a share link it is there only when the link shows reviews.
- On a phone, an open record now reads 10% larger too (20% on a computer since the last release).
v2.7 October 2026
Easier to read on a big screen.
- On a computer, an open record reads 20% larger: its text, buttons and pictures, and nothing else on the page. A phone is unchanged.
v2.6.1 October 2026
- Fixed: a list that is not ranked showed small grey numbers beside its entries. It shows none now, yours or shared.
- Fixed: going from a list back to the library showed the list’s rows squeezed into the grid for a moment. They clear at once now, with a spinner while the library loads; the same going into a list. A list that finishes loading after you left it is no longer drawn over the library.
v2.6 October 2026
Headers in your lists.
- + Header on a list breaks it into sections: a heading and optional text, above whichever position you choose. Drag it like a title, edit or remove it; it shows on shared links and goes with the list in an export.
v2.5.2 October 2026
- 📋 Lists is a button by the switches now, not tucked in the ⋯ menu; just 📋 on a phone.
v2.5.1 September 2026
- The export now carries your lists, with their order and notes, and importing puts them back.
v2.5 September 2026
Choose another poster from everything TMDB has.
- Choose another poster, in Edit: every poster TMDB has for the title, in English, with no text, and in its own language, best liked first. Choosing one puts it in the poster box, and Save keeps it as your own: a refresh never replaces it, the other person keeps theirs, and Original puts the first one back.
- Titles you added by hand have no TMDB posters, so they do not offer it.
v2.4 September 2026
- Recently deleted: films, shows and lists you delete waits 14 days in KitHub’s new Recently deleted tab, with its photos, notes and places in lists, and Put back returns it where it was.
- Customize tabs in the ⋯ menu: put Movies, TV and Anime in your order and hide the ones you don’t use. It opens on your first one.
- One theme everywhere: with it switched on in KitHub, this app follows KitHub’s theme, unless you choose one of its own here.
v2.3.1 September 2026
- Clear watched date in the select bar takes away the watched date of every title picked, and of a show’s seasons. What was watched stays watched.
v2.3 September 2026
Hide a film or a show from your library, and no more guessed watched dates.
- Hide on any film, show or anime keeps it off your library, stats and the dashboard, and out of every share link and shared list. It is yours alone: hiding something does not hide it for the other person.
- Hidden titles… in the menu lists what you have hidden, to unhide; Show hidden in the filters shows them in the library, marked. The select bar hides and unhides several at once.
- No watched date is filled in for you any more, whether adding something as watched, marking it watched or changing many at once. The date is yours to set, as seasons already were.
- A list can be linked from a person in KitDB, and opens from there.
v2.2.2 September 2026
- The sort you chose is kept after a reload: the library sort, on each device. A list opens in its own order, and leaving it puts the library’s sort back; a sort chosen inside a list stays with that visit.
KitFlicks v2.2.1 September 2026
- Links from KitDB open here. Tapping a title linked in a KitDB note opens this app on it, switching to the library that has it.
KitFlicks v2.2 September 2026
- ? Help at the bottom of the menu the name opens: what every part of KitFlicks does, on a phone and on a computer, with what is new at the top.
- A new home-screen icon, drawn to match its dock button, and a complete app manifest, so installing it gives it a window and an icon of its own — including in Vivaldi on Linux.
KitFlicks v2.1.1 September 2026
- Box office moved below Tags, above Where to watch.
KitFlicks v2.1 September 2026
- Recommendations open in KitFlicks — the record if it is in the library, a preview if not — instead of a new tab on TMDB. + Add is unchanged.
- The Radarr, Sonarr and Plex integration is removed, and the “Get it” button with it. The media stack has moved to a new server.
KitFlicks v2.0.1 September 2026
- The + Add button under a recommendation works for titles with an apostrophe in them. It used to break on one, and a title written to break it on purpose could have run its own code in the page.
KitFlicks v2 September 2026
- The heart moved to the bottom right of the poster, and now sits on the artwork rather than floating over the title and year underneath it. The owned pill and status badge moved into the same layer, so nothing overlaps the text any more.
KitFlicks v1.10 September 2026
Favourites, backported from KitTunes.
- A heart on every title, shown on the poster and filterable on its own. Rating and favouriting answer different questions: the best film you own is not always the one you put on.
- Favourites work in bulk, appear in the Both view for each person, and show on the other person's line.
- Share links can include favourites — opt-in, like reviews, dates and owned, and the same flag letter KitTunes uses so a link from either app reads the same.
- f toggles the heart while a title is open.
- Existing libraries migrate with every title unhearted, which is the only honest starting point.
- The rain animation no longer throws when a browser hands back no 2D canvas context. It used to take the theme menu down with it.
KitFlicks v1.9 September 2026
Lists can be ranked, the same way KitTunes does it.
- Ranked lists. A list can number its entries and be reordered by dragging. The rank is a column, not a bullet.
- A note on every entry — the reason it sits where it sits. A list-level description could never carry that, and it is the point of a top ten.
- Ranked is per list. An unranked list is still ordered and still reorderable, it just drops the numbers — right for "things to watch", wrong for "best of 1999".
- Removing an entry resequences the rest, so the numbering never reads 1, 2, 4, 5.
- Filtering a list keeps the original ranks: number four stays number four rather than being renumbered to fit the filter.
- Ranks and notes travel with a shared list link, and are read-only through it.
- Lists that already exist stay unranked. Their order is whatever order things were added in, and stamping numbers on that would assert a ranking nobody made — tick Ranked in the list bar when you want one.
KitFlicks v1.8 September 2026
Plex answers first.
- Plex decides what you have, including how many episodes. It counts files that are actually on the server; Radarr and Sonarr only know what they imported themselves, so anything grabbed before they were set up was invisible to them.
- A series shows what Plex holds whenever that is more than Sonarr has imported, and the total is the largest of what Plex holds, what Sonarr knows and what TMDB lists — so a show can no longer look emptier than it is.
- A series Sonarr has never heard of still reports correctly if it is sitting in Plex.
KitFlicks v1.7.4 September 2026
- Series episode counts were far too low. Sonarr reports two different totals — every episode it knows about, and only the monitored ones — and KitFlicks was reading the second. A show with one monitored season claimed that season was the whole thing.fix
- Owning something hides the Get button. Ticking "Own it" is your own answer to whether you need to fetch it, so nothing is offered and the servers are not consulted. The button disappears as soon as you tick the box.
KitFlicks v1.7.3 September 2026
- Plex decides whether you already have something. Plenty of the library was downloaded before Radarr and Sonarr were set up, so they report those titles as missing — KitFlicks would have offered to fetch things already on disk. A Plex hit now overrides whatever the arr says, including an upgrade that happens to be downloading.
- The link into Plex is gone. The hosted Plex Web client resolves the server through plex.tv, which does not suit a server reached over a private network. Plex is still used, just for knowing rather than linking.
- Every other state is unchanged: downloading with progress, part-way series, in the arr but not fetched, and missing with the Get it button.
KitFlicks v1.7.2 September 2026
- The Plex index works. Plex sends two fields whose names differ only in capitalisation — a single identifier and the list of external ids — and the reader could only cope with one of them, so every library came back empty and nothing ever showed a Plex link.fix
- A single malformed entry can no longer empty an entire library.fix
KitFlicks v1.7.1 September 2026
- The Plex index now says why it found nothing. A library that failed to load was skipped in silence, which made an empty index indistinguishable from an unreachable server.fix
- The server identifier is retried on every refresh. If the first attempt failed at start-up it was never asked for again, and without it no Plex link can be built — so a title correctly known to be on the server showed no link.fix
- Fixed a data race on that identifier between the refresh and the lookup.fix
KitFlicks v1.7 September 2026
A Grab button, wired to Radarr, Sonarr and Plex.
Grab
- Any title shows where it already is — in Plex with a link straight to it, downloading with a progress figure, or missing entirely.
- If it is missing, one button adds it and starts the search. Films go to Radarr, series to Sonarr, and anime to whichever suits — an anime film to Radarr, an anime series to Sonarr.
- Anime series are added as anime, not as standard series, which is what makes absolute episode numbering match the way anime is usually released.
- Every add is confirmed first, showing the quality profile and folder it will use. Profiles and folders are read from your own servers, so adding a profile needs no change here.
- Season monitoring is asked each time — all, first, latest, or future episodes only. Specials are never monitored automatically.
- Your usual profile and folder can be remembered as the default, and still overridden on any individual grab.
Notes
- Entirely optional. With nothing configured the button does not appear.
- Read-only share links never reach any of it.
- If the media server is unreachable the button reports it and everything else in KitFlicks carries on as normal.
KitFlicks v1.6.1 September 2026
- A list now opens as the library page, not a dialog — same grid and list views, same filters, sorting, search and bulk select, with a bar at the top naming the list and holding rename, share and delete. The category toggle hides while a list is open, since a list mixes them.
- Add to list moved to a small button in the title's own details, under the watched date and owned row and above the synopsis. While a list is open the same spot offers to take the title back out of it.
KitFlicks v1.6 September 2026
Custom lists.
Lists
- Named collections of anything — films, shows, anime, or a mix. Under ⋯ → Lists, or from any title with "Add to list".
- Lists belong to the household, not to one of you, so you both see the same ones. A title can sit in a list whether or not it is in your library yet.
- Reorder, rename, and remove titles. Deleting a list never touches the titles themselves.
- Each list shares on its own, with the same controls a library link has: reviews, watched dates, owned, and hide-synopses. Plus a choice of whose ratings the link shows, since a list belongs to both of you. Every combination gets its own link and any of them can be disabled.
- A list link only ever exposes that list, never the rest of the library, and never the other person's data.
Fixed
- Ticking a season watched no longer fills in a date. You rarely finish a season on the day you tick it, and a wrong date is worse than none — the field is yours to set. Marking every season at once behaves the same way.fix
KitFlicks v1.5.1 September 2026
Anime is now decided by one rule: if a tag says anime, it is anime.
- The rule is the tags. Any record whose tags contain the word "anime" goes in the anime category. Nothing else is consulted.
- Anime films are included too. The previous rule leaned on a series' country of origin, which TMDB does not provide for films at all — so no anime film could ever have been categorised correctly.fix
- Search applies the same rule. Search results carry no tags, so each result is checked with one small extra request; only the Movies, TV and Anime scopes pay for it, not All.fix
- Your library was re-sorted again on this update using the new rule, picking up anything the previous one missed. Only the category changed.
KitFlicks v1.5 September 2026
Anime now comes from TMDB along with everything else, instead of a second service.
How anime works now
- A Japanese animated series is filed as anime automatically. TMDB has no anime flag, so the test is animation plus a Japanese origin — which keeps western cartoons like Avatar and Arcane in TV where they belong.
- Anime already in your library moved across on this update, once. Only the category changed; ratings, reviews, watched dates, seasons and episodes were untouched.
- One provider for all three categories, so there is no second service to be down and nothing extra to configure.
Fixed
- Searching from the Anime tab returned TV shows. Opening the add dialog reset the search scope to "All" every time, so it never actually searched the category you were in. It now opens scoped to the tab you are on.fix
KitFlicks v1.4.1 September 2026
- Anime was being labelled and filed as another category. The list of valid categories still had only movies and TV in it, so every endpoint that checks one quietly rewrote anime to something else — which also meant anime details were fetched from TMDB using an AniList id.fix
- TMDB now refuses an anime request outright rather than guessing, so a mistake like that fails visibly instead of storing a wrong record.fix
- Stats, the "added under" message and the stats heading each handled two categories and put anime in the wrong one. All three know about all three now.fix
KitFlicks v1.4 September 2026
Anime is now its own category, alongside Movies and TV.
Anime
- A third category in the main toggle and in search. Backed by AniList, which is free and needs no key, so there was nothing to set up.
- Anime records sit in the same library as everything else — ratings, reviews, tags, statuses, watched dates, sharing and filters all work on them exactly as they do on films and shows, and anything added later works on all three for free.
- Studios, format (TV, OVA, ONA, film, special), broadcast season, source material and the top themes come across, the last as ordinary tags so they are filterable. Spoiler tags are never stored, so a no-spoilers share cannot leak one.
- Sequels, prequels and side stories appear in the related strip. Characters fill the cast, staff the crew, and the director is picked out.
- Scores are converted to the same ten-point scale as the rest of the library rather than AniList's hundred.
- Anime watched dates are month and year, on the same reasoning as TV.
KitFlicks v1.3 September 2026
Watching
- On hold joins the statuses, for a series you have paused rather than dropped.
- Both want to watch filter — the pile you could actually put on together.
Dates
- Childhood option on any watched date, for things seen too long ago to date. Shows as a label instead of a date.
- TV watched dates are month and year only. You do not watch a whole series on a particular day.
- Marking a show watched no longer stamps every season with that date. Season dates are entered by hand.fix
Sorting
- A leading "The", "A" or "An" is ignored when sorting by name, so The Matrix files under M.
KitFlicks v1.2 September 2026
Moved into KitHub. Same app, same database, now reachable two ways.
Where it lives
- KitFlicks runs inside the KitHub process instead of its own service. The database is the same file, adopted unchanged.
- Still at its own address with its own password, and now also from the KitHub home page, where one password covers every app.
- A ‘ KitHub button appears in the header when you arrive through the hub.
Shared with the other apps
- Serengeti and Ethan are now a KitHub-wide list defined in one place.
- Share links moved to KitHub's registry. Existing links, their flags and the disable button all work as before.
Changes & fixes
- TMDB and OMDb keys moved to KitHub's env file as
KITHUB_FLICKS_*.config - The install-to-home-screen manifest points at the right address whichever way you opened the app.fix
- No built-in fallback password any more; it has to be set explicitly.security
v1.1September 2026
Look before you add, and go one level deeper into shows: previews from search, and per-season episode pages with private episode ratings.
Preview from search
- Tap any search result (and any row in a person's filmography) to open the full detail view — synopsis, cast, crew, trailer, scores, where to stream, seasons — before it's in a library. None of the personal widgets show: no status, rating, review or dates.
- The preview has its own Add bar: tick whose library, pick a starting status, and Add. Adding to your own library flips the preview straight into the real entry, ready to rate. Titles already in a library say so.
- The Add / Link buttons on search rows still work exactly as before for one-tap adding — the preview is for when you want a closer look first. (Rows don't preview while re-linking a manual title, to keep that flow simple.)
Episodes
- Every season of a TMDB-linked show now opens into its episode list — tap Episodes ▾ on a season row. Each episode shows its still, synopsis (folded, and spoiler-safe like everything else), air date, runtime, TMDB score, director and guest stars. Guest star names open their filmography.
- Rate episodes with the same half-star stars. Episode ratings are deliberately private to that panel: they don't roll up into season or show scores, don't appear anywhere else in the app, and are never included on share links. They're purely for your own record.
- Episode lists are cached for a week per season, so reopening a panel is instant; if TMDB is unreachable you get the cached copy.
- Episode ratings are included in the JSON export and restored on import, like everything else.
Detail view layout
- Reviews moved up: for both movies and shows, the review now sits right under the genres, above tags — where you actually look for it.
- Season summaries are trimmed hard (a line or two with Read more) so a long show doesn't scroll forever.
- Season reviews stand out: a labelled, accented box under each season instead of a plain line of text.
Fixes
- The zip now ships with the
data/directory included, so a fresh install starts cleanly under systemd'sProtectSystem=strict(previously the service failed withNAMESPACEuntil the directory was created by hand). - Importing a KitFlicks JSON backup into a library that already has some of the same entries now fills in any missing season notes and episode ratings from the backup instead of skipping them — without ever overwriting live data.
v1September 2026
First release. The movie-and-TV sibling of KitBooks and KitGames: the same two libraries, half-star ratings, edits that survive refreshes, share links, themes — with everything a film tracker needs on top.
Library
- Two libraries, two kinds. Serengeti | Ethan | Both, plus a Movies | TV toggle right beside it. Both is the overlap — what you both have — with each person's status and rating on the card.
- Statuses: Want to watch · Watching · Watched · Dropped. Marking something Watched stamps today's date unless you've set one.
- Data from TMDB (The Movie Database): poster, synopsis, tagline, release date, runtime, genres, keywords (as tags), certification, cast and crew, trailer, budget and box office, collection, similar titles, and where to stream (via JustWatch data, for the US). Nothing is stored locally except text — posters and stills are loaded from TMDB's CDN.
- Critic scores via OMDb (optional key): Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic and IMDb sit next to TMDB's audience score. Without an OMDb key you still get TMDB's score.
- One search box for everything. Type a title, an actor or a director: movies and shows come back in one list with a Movie/TV tag, and people appear below. Tap a person for their filmography with "in library" markers, a Movies/TV filter and an "in library only" switch. Cast photos and crew names in the detail view open the same panel.
- The library search box also matches actors, directors, tags, reviews and collections — "spielberg" finds the movies, not just titles containing it.
- Filters: status, owned (and format), sharing, streaming service, genre and tags (tap once to include, twice to exclude), decade, certification, collection, person, rated/unrated. TV adds a seasons watched filter (not started / part way / all). Sorts include TMDB and Rotten Tomatoes scores, runtime, recently watched and collection order.
- Poster grid or list view; the list shows runtime, certification and a score at a glance.
- 🎲 Random now asks: from Want to watch, or from everything shown.
Detail view
- Status, half-star rating, the other person's status and rating, and a compact Watched date that's a small link until set (full date, month + year, or just a year).
- 💿 Own it checkbox with format pills — DVD, Blu-ray, 4K, Digital, or + for anything else. Owned titles carry a 💿 badge on their card.
- Review — the per-title notes, edited inline with a small ✎ button (no big Edit form needed).
- TV seasons. Every season is listed with its poster and episode count. Each has its own watched tick, half-star rating, watched date and review; the card and the other person's line show 3/5 seasons. Marking a season watched moves a show from Want to watch to Watching, finishing the last one offers to mark the whole show Watched, and Mark all watched does the lot.
- 🙈 Spoiler-free (⋯ menu) hides every synopsis — movie, show and season — behind a tap-to-peek box, so you can browse things you haven't seen yet.
- Where to watch (stream / free / rent / buy with service logos), trailer (loads only when tapped), box office with return multiple, "you might also like" with one-tap add, and links to TMDB, IMDb, JustWatch and the official site.
- Manual titles (not on TMDB) can be linked to TMDB later from the edit form: search, tap Link, and the full record fills in while your review, rating and dates stay.
Bulk, refresh and data
- Select several (☑): set status, mark owned (with a format) or not owned, ↻ refresh their data, add to the other library, or remove.
- Refresh stale data (90+ days) and Refresh everything run in the background and re-pull TMDB and OMDb for every linked title. Your edits, reviews and ratings are never touched; where-to-stream updates with it.
- Export JSON (complete backup, including seasons) and Export CSV; Import either back. Importing twice is harmless — nothing is overwritten.
- Import from Letterboxd. Take the export zip from letterboxd.com (Settings → Data → Export), pick a library, and every film is matched on TMDB in the background: watchlist → Want to watch, everything else → Watched, with ratings, reviews and watched dates. Anything TMDB can't match is added by title so nothing is lost; link it later from Edit.
- Stats per person and per kind: hours watched (shows count watched seasons × episodes × episode length), backlog hours, seasons and episodes, average rating, watched this year and by year, genres, decades, streaming services, and the directors and actors you keep coming back to.
Sharing
- Share link per library, read-only, no login, with what it includes chosen per link: reviews, watched dates, owned, and a no-spoilers option that hides synopses. Each combination gets its own link; all active links are listed and any can be disabled. What's hidden is stripped on the server, so a viewer can't switch it back on. The other person's library is never visible through a link, and share pages are
noindex.
Look & feel
- Same six themes as KitBooks and KitGames, following your device's light/dark setting. Slate is the default here, a shade darker than the others to suit the subject. Rainy Day still rains.
- Installs to the home screen as an app with a 🎬 icon. Keyboard:
/to search, ← → to step between titles, Esc to back out.
🎮 KitGames open on its own
v2.15.2 October 2026
- Undo and redo: Ctrl+Z (⌘Z) undoes, Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y redoes; deleting something offers Undo on its note too (it comes back from Recently deleted). In a text box the usual undo still works.
v2.15.1 October 2026
- Behind the scenes: answers from Steam and IGDB are read with a size limit.
- Behind the scenes: a small safety fix when reading Steam matches.
v2.15 October 2026
- Release days of games on your want list appear on your KitPlan calendar.
v2.14 October 2026
Share a list, or your whole library to look through, with someone else signed in.
- 👥 Share with… on a list (to see, or to change its notes and order), and ⋯ → Share my library with…. Shared with me… opens what others share with you.
- Someone invited has lists of their own, and sees none of the household’s. Exports are the household’s for now.
v2.13 October 2026
Someone invited by the admin has a library of their own.
- They see only their own library, and you only yours and each other's. "Also in …'s library" only ever names the two of you.
v2.12 October 2026
With KitHub's sign-in, you change only your own library.
- You can still see your partner's library, and copy a game from it into yours; changing or removing theirs is refused.
- Adding a game offers your own library only.
v2.11.2 October 2026
- On a phone, swipe left or right on an open record to go to the next or previous one, as ← → do on a computer.
v2.11.1 October 2026
- Fixed: the 10% larger record on a phone, from the last release, broke the layout there. A phone shows a record at its usual size again; a computer keeps the 20%.
v2.11 October 2026
Your reviews, at a glance.
- 📝 beside the stars on a game you have written a review of.
- Filter by My review: Written, or Not written.
- On a phone, an open record now reads 10% larger too (20% on a computer since the last release).
v2.10 October 2026
Easier to read on a big screen.
- On a computer, an open record reads 20% larger: its text, buttons and pictures, and nothing else on the page. A phone is unchanged.
v2.9 October 2026
Lists, like KitTunes’ and KitFlicks’.
- 📋 Lists by the switches: ranked or not, a note on each game, section headers, drag or number to reorder.
- 📋 Add to list on every game, and from Select for several at once.
- Share a list by a link that shows just that list, read only, with one person’s status and stars.
v2.8 September 2026
- Recently deleted: games you delete waits 14 days in KitHub’s new Recently deleted tab, with its photos, notes and places in lists, and Put back returns it where it was.
- One theme everywhere: with it switched on in KitHub, this app follows KitHub’s theme, unless you choose one of its own here.
v2.7 September 2026
- Rating a game and saying yes to “Mark as Played?” no longer fills in today as the played date. The date is yours to set.
v2.6.3 September 2026
- The sort you chose is kept after a reload: the library, finder and Steam sorts, on each device. A search for upcoming games still sorts by popularity, as nothing is rated yet.
KitGames v2.6.2 September 2026
🧭 Find: games you might like, from IGDB, by what you pick.
- 🧭 Find, between the person toggle and + Add, opens a finder. Pick tags (how you play, genre, style and mechanics, mood and look, theme, or any tag IGDB has): tap once to want, twice to avoid, and choose whether a game needs all of them or any. Add games you want more of, or your favourites in one tap. Narrow by platform (yours are marked), when it came out (or is coming), length, score and popularity, from popular hits to hidden gems.
- Every result says how well it matches and why (“Like Hades · Roguelike”), with its length and score, and whether the other person has it. Games already in your library are left out unless you ask.
- On each result: + Want adds it to Want to play, ≈ finds more like it, ✕ hides it for good (with Undo). Tap it for the full record. Sort the results, or 🎲 Surprise me.
- Quick starts: For you, Couch co-op night, Play together online, Short & great, Hidden gems, Coming soon, and Tonight, from the backlog, which asks the same questions of your own Want to play and On hold.
- Saved ▾ keeps searches for both of you, and lists what you marked Not interested. The finder reopens as you left it on each device. In Both it finds games for the two of you.
- 🧭 More like this on every game opens the finder with that game as the starting point.
- Not interested marks and saved searches are in Export JSON and come back with Import.
- Fixed: + Add on a similar game inside a preview opened its dialog behind the preview. The arrow keys no longer jump to the first game from a record opened outside the list, and Escape closes a preview before the dialog under it.
KitGames v2.6.1 September 2026
- Links from KitDB open here. Tapping a game linked in a KitDB note opens this app on it, switching to the library that has it.
KitGames v2.6 September 2026
- ? Help at the bottom of the menu the name opens: what every part of KitGames does, on a phone and on a computer, with what is new at the top.
- A new home-screen icon, drawn to match its dock button, and a complete app manifest, so installing it gives it a window and an icon of its own — including in Vivaldi on Linux.
- The version beside the name now always matches this page. It said v2.3 while the app was v2.5.
KitGames v2.5 September 2026
- One Played date instead of Started and Finished. Marking a game Played still fills it in with today.
- My notes is now My review, and sits between Genre and Tags.
- The CSV export writes
reviewandplayed_at; importing still accepts the old column names.
KitGames v2.4 September 2026
- Previews. Tap a search result for the full record — covers, screenshots, trailer, scores, similar games — before deciding to add it. Add still adds straight away.
- Similar games open in KitGames — the record if it is in the library, a preview if not — instead of on Steam. Each has a + Add button.
KitGames v2.3.2 September 2026
- The + Add button under a recommendation works for titles with an apostrophe in them. It used to break on one, and a title written to break it on purpose could have run its own code in the page.
KitGames v2.3.1 September 2026
- The rain animation no longer throws when a browser hands back no 2D canvas context. It used to take the theme menu down with it; now it simply declines to run, which is the right outcome for decoration.
KitGames v2.3 September 2026
Moved into KitHub. Same app, same database, now reachable two ways.
Where it lives
- KitGames now runs inside the KitHub process instead of its own service. The database is the same file, adopted unchanged.
- Still at its own address with its own password, exactly as before.
- Also reachable from the KitHub home page, where one password covers every app.
Shared with the other apps
- Ethan and Serengeti are now a KitHub-wide list. Renaming someone in KitHub settings updates KitGames too.
- Share links moved to KitHub's registry. Existing links keep working and are still revocable and regenerable from the same dialog.
- A ‘ KitHub button appears in the header when you arrive through the hub.
Changes & fixes
- The Steam and IGDB keys moved to KitHub's env file as
KITHUB_GAMES_*.config - The install-to-home-screen manifest now points at the right address whichever way you opened the app.fix
- No built-in fallback password any more; it has to be set explicitly.security
v2.2September 2026
Public share links, plus a handful of fixes.
Sharing
- Share link (⋯ → Share link…). Creates a link for whichever library is selected (
/s/<random token>). Anyone with it can browse that library read-only, no login: grid and list views, search, filters and sorts, and the full game detail including notes, owned-on, dates, Steam hours, links, screenshots and trailer. Nothing can be changed from it, and the other person's library, status and rating are not visible through it. - Disable link revokes it instantly (visitors see "This share link is no longer active"); Regenerate issues a new one. Each library has its own link. Share pages are marked
noindex.
Changes & fixes
- Similar games link to the game's Steam store page (cover and title). Games added before this update fall back to a Steam search for the title until their data is next refreshed.
- Both view: each person's status and rating is on its own line on the card, so they no longer run together.fix The redundant top badge is dropped in that view.
- Every scrollbar in the app — page, dialogs, dropdowns, screenshot and similar-games strips — now uses the theme colour.
v2.1September 2026
Polish pass on the game detail view after living with v2 for a bit.
Detail view
- The other person's status and rating now sit directly under your own status and rating, instead of below the dates.
- Owned on no longer uses a text box in the view. The platform pills under the title are the control: tap PC, Switch, etc. to mark that you own it there (highlighted in the theme colour with a ✓), tap again to unmark. A small line underneath summarises. The + pill adds a platform IGDB doesn't list on that game (Steam Deck, Game Pass…). The full edit form keeps a typed field for lists.
- Started / Finished are compact
+ Started/+ Finishedlinks until set. Tapping opens a small inline row (Month · Day · Year · Save · Clear). Dates can be a full date, a month and year, or just a year, shown as "14 Feb 2025", "Nov 2024" or "2024". The edit form's date fields accept the same shapes typed in (2023-7and2023/07both normalise). - Arrow keys reliably step between games.fix Previously, focus left in the search box or on the status dropdown swallowed the keys, and arrows on a focused status dropdown could silently change the status. The dropdown now drops focus after a change, and only a control inside the open game captures keys.
- Escape steps back sensibly: out of a field → close the date row → close the game.
Housekeeping
- Hidden
/changelogpage (this one).
v2September 2026
The big one: Steam import, the Both view, personal tracking fields, stats, bulk actions, and a long list of smaller things. Still one small binary; the database upgrades itself on first start.
Steam
- Steam library picker (⋯ → Steam library…). Link each person's Steam profile once by pasting a profile URL or vanity name. The picker lists their whole Steam library with a name filter, a filter dropdown (Not in library · All · Already in library · Matched on IGDB · Not on IGDB · Played · Never played), sorting (Name · Most played · Least played · Recently played), 25/50/100 per page with paging, Select page / Select all matching / Clear, and per-library checkboxes for who gets the games.
- Two statuses on add: one for games with hours (default Played), one for games at 0 h (default Want to play).
- Games are matched to IGDB by Steam app ID via IGDB's external-games table — exact matches, no title guessing. Games IGDB doesn't know are added with Steam's own name and portrait cover art (remote URL, nothing stored) and tagged "Steam only".
- The Steam library is cached in the database so the picker opens instantly; it refreshes itself when the cache is over a day old, and the Refresh from Steam button forces it. Unlink is one click.
- Steam hours per person on every linked game, shown in the detail view and list view, sortable ("Steam hours"), exported to CSV, refreshed whenever that person's library syncs, and applied to games you'd already added by search.
- Needs a Steam Web API key in
/etc/kitgames.envasKITGAMES_STEAM_KEY, and the Steam profile's Game details privacy set to Public.
For the two of you
- Both on the library toggle: games you both have, with each person's status and rating on the card. Opening one shows your entry with the other person's line included.
- The other person's status and rating appear inside any shared game.
- Sharing filter chips: Both have it · Only me (not the other person) · 🎮 Play together (any co-op / multiplayer / split-screen tag).
Personal tracking
- Owned on — which platforms you have a game on, separate from IGDB's list of every platform it shipped on. Filterable with include/exclude chips; autocomplete from the game's platforms.
- Started and Finished dates on each entry, editable without opening the full edit form.
- Rating a Want-to-play game asks whether to mark it Played, and stamps today as Finished if you say yes.
- Stats (⋯ menu): counts per status, backlog hours (Main Story time sitting in Want to play, plus how many have no estimate), estimated hours played, average rating, finished this year, shared count, Steam totals, genre / owned-on / series breakdowns and finished-by-year.
Library
- List view (☷) alongside the cover grid — small cover, title, year · genre, playtime, Steam hours, status, rating. Remembered per device.
- 🎲 Random pick from Want to play, respecting the current filters (falls back to everything shown).
- ☑ Bulk select: tap cards to select, then set a status, add them to the other person's library, or remove them, from a bar along the bottom. Select all shown is one tap.
- New filters: Playtime buckets (Under 10h · 10–30h · 30h+ · Unknown), Owned on, Series dropdown.
- New sorts: Recently updated, Series (then release date), Steam hours, Recently finished.
- Search matches series and owned-on text too.
/focuses the search box from anywhere.
Game detail
- Series from IGDB's collection/franchise data, shown as a pill; tap it to filter the library to that series.
- Links: official site, Steam, GOG, Epic, itch.io where IGDB has them.
- Similar games strip from IGDB, each with a one-tap Add (reuses the add dialog with the game pre-chosen); already-owned ones are marked.
- Per-field ↺ reset next to anything you've edited (genre, tags, and a list in the footer for title/cover/summary), instead of only reset-everything.
- ←/→ arrow keys and on-screen arrows step to the previous/next game in the current list.
- Steam hours line, and "On Steam, not played yet" for linked-but-unplayed games.
Adding games
- Search has an Include DLC, expansions & bundles checkbox; results show a type tag (DLC, Expansion, Remaster…). Main games only is still the default.
Data & maintenance
- Refresh stale data (⋯ menu): re-pulls IGDB data for every game not fetched in 90+ days, in the background, paced under the rate limit, with a progress toast. Your edits are kept, as with the single-game refresh.
- IGDB fetches are batched (200 games per request) so a Steam import of hundreds of games takes a handful of calls.
- Handles IGDB's 2025 field rename (
category→external_game_source/ websitetype) with automatic fallback. - CSV export/import gained: owned_on, started_at, finished_at, steam_hours, series, steam_appid, updated_at. v1 CSVs still import.
- Database migration is automatic and additive: new columns on
games(series, similar, links, steam_appid) andentries(owned_on, started_at, finished_at, steam_minutes, updated_at), plussettingsandsteam_cachetables. Nothing existing is touched. The nightly SQLite backup covers all of it without changes. - Fixed: stacked dialogs (quick-add or Steam picker opened over a game) now sit on top and Escape closes the top one first.fix
- Header fits on one line on phones down to 360px (title collapses to the icon).fix
v1.2September 2026
Home-screen and browser-tab polish.
- 🎮 emoji favicon (SVG, no file to host).
- PNG icons for Add to Home Screen on iOS and Android (apple-touch-icon, 192 and 512 px) on the purple theme colour, and a web manifest served with the right content type.
- Standalone-app meta tags so it opens without browser chrome when pinned to a phone home screen.
v1.1September 2026
First round of feedback after using v1.
- Cozy Purple is the default theme.
- Screenshot lightbox: tap a screenshot for a full-size view, with ‹ › arrows, arrow keys, Esc, swipe on touch, and a counter.
- Longest first sort (by Main Story time) next to Shortest first.
- Thin themed scrollbar on the screenshot strip.
- Inline notes editing from the detail view, without opening the full edit form.
v1September 2026
First release. A video-game sibling of KitBooks: single Go binary, SQLite, one HTML file, same look.
Core
- Two libraries — Ethan's and Serengeti's — behind one shared password. A game can be in one or both; each person has their own status, rating, notes and edits.
- Statuses: Want to play · Playing · Played · On hold · Dropped. Half-star ratings 1–5.
- Game data from IGDB (via a free Twitch developer app): title, cover, release date, critic and player scores with counts, primary genre, tags (secondary genres, game modes, perspectives, themes), summary, platforms, developer, publisher, screenshots, trailer.
- Playtime from IGDB's time-to-beat data: Main story · Main + extras · Completionist, with report counts.
- Cover art, screenshots and trailers are never stored — the browser loads them from IGDB's CDN and YouTube. The database stays tiny.
Editing model
- One stock record per game shared by both of you; each person's edits to title, cover, genre, tags or summary are stored as overrides, so one person's changes never touch the other's copy.
- Refresh data re-pulls the stock record and keeps everyone's edits; overrides that now match stock quietly clear.
- Release date, developer, publisher, platforms, scores and playtimes are locked (facts about the game, not opinions).
- Manual add for games IGDB doesn't have.
- Add to the other person's library from the detail view; removing the last copy deletes the game.
Browsing
- Cover grid with status badges and ratings; search across title, genre, tags, platforms, developer, publisher and notes.
- Filter panel: status chips with counts; three-state include/exclude chips for genre, tags and platforms; developer, publisher and rated/unrated dropdowns; live filter count and one-tap clear.
- Sorts: Recently added, Title, Release newest/oldest, My rating, Critic score, Player score, Shortest first, First added.
- Detail view with cover, scores, playtime, read-more summary, genre/tag pills, notes, screenshot strip and YouTube trailer (privacy-enhanced embed).
Look & feel
- Six themes with light and dark variants: Cozy Purple, Warm Brown, Forest Green, Rainy Day (with an optional rain animation), Dusty Rose, Slate.
- Autocomplete for genres and tags from what's already in the library.
- Works well on phones; add dialog and detail view adapt to narrow screens.
Data & ops
- JSON export (full lossless backup) and CSV export; import of either. CSV import re-fetches stock data from IGDB per row so your edits attribute correctly.
- Runs as a systemd service under www-data, config in
/etc/kitgames.env, behind the existing Cloudflare Tunnel at games.serengeticloset.com.update.shrebuilds and restarts. - Nightly SQLite snapshot to Google Drive via rclone with 90-day retention.

v1.5.1 October 2026
- Undo and redo: Ctrl+Z (⌘Z) undoes, Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y redoes; deleting something offers Undo on its note too (it comes back from Recently deleted). In a text box the usual undo still works.
v1.5 October 2026
Share a thing, or your whole shelf, with someone else signed in.
- 👥 Share with… on a thing: to see, or to change its details (never put away or delete). ⋯ → Share my things with…, and Shared with me….
- Saves carry the thing’s version, so a change made elsewhere is never overwritten.
v1.4 October 2026
Someone invited by the admin has a shelf of their own.
- Their things are theirs; they see nothing of yours, and you nothing of theirs. Everything already here stays the household's.
v1.3.1 September 2026
- An uploaded photo is checked to be a picture, and kept as what it really is.
v1.3 September 2026
- Recently deleted: trinkets, with their photos you delete waits 14 days in KitHub’s new Recently deleted tab, with its photos, notes and places in lists, and Put back returns it where it was.
- One theme everywhere: with it switched on in KitHub, this app follows KitHub’s theme, unless you choose one of its own here.
v1.2.2 September 2026
- The sort you chose is kept after a reload: the sort, on each device.
KitKnacks v1.2.1 September 2026
- Links from KitDB open here. Tapping a item linked in a KitDB note opens this app on it.
KitKnacks v1.2 September 2026
- ? Help at the bottom of the menu the name opens: what every part of KitKnacks does, on a phone and on a computer, with what is new at the top.
- A new home-screen icon, drawn to match its dock button, and a complete app manifest, so installing it gives it a window and an icon of its own — including in Vivaldi on Linux.
- The version beside the name now always matches this page. It said v1.1 while the app was v1.1.1.
KitKnacks v1.1.1 September 2026
- The rain animation no longer throws when a browser hands back no 2D canvas context. It used to take the theme menu down with it; now it simply declines to run, which is the right outcome for decoration.
KitKnacks v1.1 September 2026
KitKnacks v1.0.1 September 2026
- Saving a new item did nothing. The page was still calling the old address for its data after the rename.fix
- Touch up a cut-out by hand. After the background is removed, erase anything left behind or paint the original back where too much was taken. Brush size is adjustable and there is an undo, which the original version of this tool did not have.
- A checkerboard behind the canvas so transparency is visible while you work.
KitKnacks v1.0 September 2026
A shelf for trinkets, curios and small objects.
The shelf
- Items with photo, category, colour, size, date acquired, location, tags, notes and care notes.
- Large tiles with photos never cropped, so a thing can actually be recognised.
- Archive anything gone or given away. Hidden by default, kept for the record, still searchable.
- Filter by category, colour, size, location and tags, with a second tap to exclude.
Photos
- Background removal in your browser, the same as KitCloset — the server never loads a model.
- The cut-out is used wherever it exists, with the original kept as a fallback.
Sharing
- Share the whole shelf or a single item, read-only and without a login.
- Choose what a link includes: size, notes, care notes. When something was acquired and where it is kept are never shared.
Notes
- Built from KitCloset, with the clothes-specific parts removed: no brand, no outfits, no worn calendar.
- One shared shelf — no per-person split.
🗓️ KitPlan open on its own
v1.4 October 2026
- A habit taken off a day goes back up to the habit circles (Back to the habits), not into “Taken off this day”.
- Packages: Amazon numbers (TBA…) are kept as reminders with a link to your Amazon orders, since Amazon does not let other apps track its deliveries; for a number EasyPost cannot place (a ShipBob one, say), choose its carrier on the package and it is tracked with it.
- Reminder days for a habit: a habit that is not every day can remind you only on the weekdays you choose (Mon, Wed, Fri for workouts); ticking it on another day still counts.
- 🔎 Search your email (Mail): any days you choose, and words if you like. Each message shows the tracking numbers found (Track), other numbers that may be ones (Track this?), what it would add to the calendar, and its text, so you can pick anything out and track it. Nothing is marked read.
- 💼 Done alongside work: mark anything on a day’s plan as done during work, as work allowed. It shows with faint stripes and a small briefcase, and your diary knows.
- Drag a habit onto the plan (on a computer): drag its circle from the top onto the timeline, where a line shows the time it will go at, or onto Anytime. A click still ticks it.
- Colours: give anything on the plan a colour of its own (a block, a habit, a to-do, an event, another app’s thing), or colour a whole list from one of its to-dos; and choose the colour of to-dos in no list (Edit lists).
- Undo and redo everything on the planner and in to-dos: moving, resizing, ticking, notes, didn’t do, colours, adding and deleting. Ctrl+Z (⌘Z) undoes, Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y redoes; each says what it undid, with Redo.
v1.3 October 2026
- What your diary hears of a day uses where things were put on the planner: their times there, habits placed on the day too.
- The grips on things on the timeline show on a phone only; on a computer the cursor says what a drag will do. Links in notes open in a peek on a computer, with Back on a phone.
- How did it go? Ticking a thing done asks for a note, if you like (Skip is fine). Turn it off for one thing (Ask when this is ticked) or for everything (Don’t ask for anything); choose when adding something too.
- Links in notes: type [[ in a note to link anything in KitHub (a recipe, a book, a note, a journal entry); it opens from the planner and the diary.
- Notes from the day are listed in full under the plan, so a day gone reads as a record of it; and done things are no longer crossed out (the filled dot says it).
- Notes on other apps’ things in the plan (a meal, a booking) now reach your diary too.
- Steadier dragging on a phone: hold a thing for a moment, then drag. Held by a side (the grips on the left and right) it moves; held in the middle it changes the start (top half) or the end (bottom half). The small edge handles are for a mouse now.
- Find an emoji (☺) beside the icon when adding something to the day and for a habit: search by name or by everyday words, like “workout” or “book”.
- Notes for the day on anything on the plan: what workouts you did, what you read, what you mean to do. They show on the timeline, and your diary hears them.
- ✓ I did something: on today or a day gone, log something that happened, planned or not: with a time, for a while, or just done. Adding to a past day, or to a half hour already gone, starts as done too (untick Already done to plan it instead).
- KitJournal sees the day’s plan as you add a session for it; a block you didn’t do keeps its time there.
v1.2 October 2026
- Anytime, for a while: anything on a day’s plan can be anytime that day, with or without a length (anytime for an hour). Fixed: making a habit Anytime sent it back to the habits at the top, or made it vanish on a day it wasn’t due.
- Adding to a day: a habit, calendar thing or to-do goes on the schedule with ⤵︎ or into Anytime with +. Tapping the timeline adds at the half hour.
- Move things on the timeline by dragging them (on a phone, hold one for a moment, then drag; a quick swipe still scrolls), and drag the top or bottom edge to change a length.
- Didn’t do marks a thing on a day as not done (your diary hears about it), and Take off this day removes it from that day’s plan; it can be brought back.
- Blocking out time: Work, Lunch, Workout, Break and Study to pick from, and a block can repeat every weekday, every day or every week.
- KitPlan brings itself up to date when KitJournal adds something to it, or when you come back to it.
v1.1.5 October 2026
- Weeks run Monday to Sunday in To-do: This week ends this Sunday, a new Next week holds the Monday to Sunday after, and Later is anything beyond. Done this week counts since Monday.
- Days in a to-do: as you type one, the day in it is marked in the box (today, tomorrow, EOD, EOW, Monday or mon, next Friday, 10/20, Oct 20), and when you add it, that is its day, with the words taken out: “Call Joe today about billing” is “Call Joe about billing”, for today. “on”, “by” and “due” go with the day; a date that has passed this year means next year. When words are not meant as a day (“Watch Friday Night Lights”), tap ✕ on the chip to keep them.
- Behind the scenes: bookings found in email more than 400 days ago are let go.
v1.1.4 October 2026
- To-dos, events and reminders you add from a KitJournal diary session arrive here, noted with the day they came from.
v1.1.3 October 2026
- Email: a new account’s first check reads the last month (not the last year), then each new message as it arrives.
v1.1.2 October 2026
- A sheet opened straight after another one closes no longer disappears on its own.
v1.1.1 October 2026
- Your trips from KitTravel are on the calendar: when each begins and ends, and its bookings at their times. Trips is a kind of its own in What the calendar shows.
- Bookings found in your email now know what they are (a flight, a stay, a train, a table), so KitTravel can offer them to the right trip.
v1.1 October 2026
- Mail, a fifth tab: packages on their way and delivered. Tracking numbers in your shipping emails wait for you to say Follow (nothing is paid for until you do); paste any tracking number to add one. EasyPost follows every carrier. Each is asked about every hour, shows its scans, arrives on the calendar on its day, and tells your phone when it is out for delivery, delivered, or has a problem.
- Fixed: email found nothing. It read only the inbox, only the last three weeks, and only one of the two ways senders mark up bookings. It now reads All Mail (so archived confirmations count) going back a year, both kinds of markup, and says when a check went wrong.
- What it read, in Email: every message a check read, with what came of it, so you can see your mail was read and why something was or was not added. Check now works in the background and shows how far it has got.
- The calendar’s kinds in one place. One button says what is showing; it opens a list with a switch and Only for each kind, and Everything, Just mine and Nothing at the top.
v1.0.2 October 2026
- Concerts on the calendar are only the shows you’ve marked Going in KitTunes, not every show near you.
v1.0.1 October 2026
- Fixed: opening a card, a meal or anything else from another app now switches to that app’s tab, so the dock follows and KitPlan’s tab is still there to come back to.
- Nothing from an archived KitDB project, an archived KitCook recipe or a hidden KitFlicks title shows any more, and removing an email account takes away what it found that you had not looked at.
v1.0 October 2026
A calendar, a to-do list, habits and a day planner, each of you your own, with every date the rest of KitHub knows.
- Calendar: a month or a week of your events and to-dos, with birthdays, renewals, due dates, meals, Kitsta posts, concerts near you, releases you want, goal ends and holidays, each a layer you can hide. Tap a day for its list and Open in planner.
- Habits: every day, a number a week or a month, or counted (8 glasses), with pastel colours and any emoji. Year grids, a Week view of the last seven days where a missed day can be filled in, an editable month, stats and medals. A habit can tick itself from KitFit, KitCook or KitBooks.
- Planner: block out your day from-to, for a while, or just to do; pull in to-dos, habits, meals and due dates; tick as you go. Ticking anywhere ticks it everywhere, in KitDB and KitCook too, and past days stay as they were.
- To-do: quick add that understands days, times, lengths and #lists; repeats; reminders to your phone; Overdue, Today, This week, Later and Anytime.
- Email: Gmail and Proton (through Bridge) are read for tickets, bookings and invitations, offered to add with one tap.
- Share an event with each other's calendar; KitPlan's events reach your calendar app through KitHub's private feed; medals and goals for to-dos, planned hours and each habit.
📓 KitJournal open on its own
v1.2.1 October 2026
- The day’s plan marks things done alongside work (💼), and the reflection is told so.
- Undo and redo: Ctrl+Z (⌘Z) undoes, Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y redoes; deleting something offers Undo on its note too (it comes back from Recently deleted). In a text box the usual undo still works.
v1.2 October 2026
- 📥 Import recordings from another diary app: choose the files (m4a, mp3, wav, ogg, opus, flac…), check the day each is for (guessed from its name or date), add its photos if you like, and each becomes a session for its day, written down and thought over as usual, oldest day first.
- Each diary entry shows its day in KitPlan, as when you record; and both show when things were actually done: the time they were put at on the planner, not the time they came with (a to-do with no time of its own no longer reads “anytime” once you placed it).
- Warm-ups belong to the session: answer one, two or three of the questions first, then talk about the main thing: it is all one session for the day, the warm-ups in their own section (no summary of their own; the session’s summary and reflection draw on them). A day with warm-ups only can be finished as it is.
- The day’s plan shows every note on it from KitPlan, whatever it is on, with its links.
- The day’s plan shows your notes on things in KitPlan, and the reflection is told them.
- Your day in KitPlan is shown while you add a session, for the day it is for: on the Diary, while recording and while typing. Done things are ticked, things you didn’t do are struck through; Open › goes to that day in KitPlan.
v1.1 October 2026
- Link to an entry from a KitDB note: search for its title in the note’s link search. It is found only by you; anyone you share the note with sees a broken link, never your entry.
- Links between entries: type [[ and pick one of your entries to link to it by its title. Under an entry, Links to and Linked from open the others.
- Tab types a tab as you write (Shift+Tab takes one off).
- Tags work as in the media apps: tap one above your entries to show only those, again to hide them, again to let it go; and your tags are suggested as you type one (separate them with commas).
- Calmer writing: no box drawn around the text as you write, no floating + over the page, and the line you are typing is no longer pushed to the bottom of the screen.
- The Journal is yours alone: Need a spark? and Reflect on this are gone, and nothing in it is ever read by AI.
- Warm-ups: the questions waiting before a session use better judgement about what is worth asking: what you talked about, and what really matters on your calendar (an appointment, a trip, a big work day), not routine to-dos. The follow-up questions from your last session become warm-ups, instead of a To think about section after it.
- Month recaps: once a month with four or more sessions ends, its look-back is made by itself, waits at the top of the Diary for the first days of the next month, and your phone is told.
- Your diary hears what you planned in KitPlan and didn’t do, and the time you blocked out.
- Fixed: a session could keep the title “A session” for good (tapping the title saved the stand-in as your own). Those sessions are given their real titles.
- A new icon: a quill.
v1.0.1 October 2026
- Fixed: “Could not think it over: json: cannot unmarshal string…”. The reflection came back as one text instead of paragraphs, and the whole answer was refused for it. Every part of an answer is now read whatever shape it comes in.
- Recordings show their whole length before you play them, so you can skip around. Android’s recordings do not say how long they are, so the bar used to grow as they played.
- Fixed: a session could be written down and then finish with no title, summary or reflection, when GreenPT’s answer was cut off. A cut-off answer is now asked for again, an empty one counts as not finished (and is tried again), and a session left like that is thought over again when KitHub updates. If one ever has nothing made of it, its page says so, with ↻ Think it over.
- Fixed: a recording could not be written down (“GreenPT answered 404”): KitJournal sent it to the wrong address at GreenPT. Recordings are kept until they are written down, so none were lost; ones that failed are tried again as soon as KitHub is updated.
- Fixed: tapping the microphone said it was not allowed straight away, without your browser ever asking. KitHub had the microphone turned off for all its pages, from before anything used it. Now the browser asks the first time; and if the microphone is off, KitJournal says how to turn it on.
- Smoother long sessions: a recording is kept on your phone a second at a time, instead of saving the whole recording again every second, which grew heavy as a session went on.
- Fixed: recordings made on an iPhone play back in Safari; typed words that could not be sent are kept and sent with Try again; a session put back from Recently deleted has its recordings and photos again.
- Behind the scenes: a long recording is sent to be written down without holding it all in memory; questions are made once at a time, and not retried for half an hour after a failure; old used questions are tidied away.
v1.0 October 2026
A journal for writing whatever comes, and a diary you can talk to that thinks it over with you.
- Journal: a quiet page to write on, with Poem (line breaks kept), Focus (only the words), tags, a mood, any day, search, and a spark when you need one. Nothing in it is read by AI unless you tap Reflect on this.
- Diary: talk (or type) about your day, a past day, or a dream. Questions are waiting before you start: about what's going on in your life, and something to wonder about.
- Each session is written down, given a title and a summary, and reflected on: what went well, what is worth another look, with your past sessions and calendar in mind. Follow-up questions to answer now or next time, and to-dos, events and reminders you can add to KitPlan with one tap.
- Photos: up to ten with each session, with captions.
- Insights: your mood over the month, a look back at each month, and What I know: the notes that make reflections personal, yours to change or forget.
- AI on your terms: one switch turns it all off, or turn off any part. Everything stays in your KitHub database; GreenPT only processes it and keeps nothing. A daily reminder, and a PIN lock for this device.
🧳 KitTravel open on its own
v1.0.8 October 2026
- Undo and redo: Ctrl+Z (⌘Z) undoes, Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y redoes; deleting something offers Undo on its note too (it comes back from Recently deleted). In a text box the usual undo still works.
v1.0.7 October 2026
- Behind the scenes: looked-up guides, pictures, searches and travel times are let go after 60 days and fetched again when needed, so they do not pile up.
v1.0.6 October 2026
- Fixed on phones: a trip’s tabs (Packing was cut off), Getting around, Things to do, and the rows of districts and suggestions now scroll sideways properly: buttons keep their size, the highlight is no longer clipped, the edges fade, and the one you chose is brought into view.
v1.0.5 October 2026
- Smoother: coming back to the Trips tab (or to the window it is in) no longer stalls. A picture you uploaded is shown on cards as a small copy instead of the whole picture, and cards off screen are not drawn until you scroll to them.
v1.0.4 October 2026
- Fixed: a trip was offered everything found in your email during its dates, a friend’s birthday party at home included. Now it is offered flights, stays, trains and cars in its dates, and tables and events only where the trip is.
- Smoother: opening KitTravel no longer catches. Photos are drawn as pictures that load as they come into view and are decoded in the background, instead of all at once as the page draws.
v1.0.3 October 2026
- Faster: KitTravel no longer froze for a moment as it opened or as you left it. The map is loaded only when a trip shows it, and big pictures (a trip's cover, a Someday place, a guide's banner) are shown at the size of the screen, not as the full-size originals, which could be over 20 megapixels; the thumbnail shows first and a sharper one follows.
v1.0.3 October 2026
- Every place on a trip has a thumbnail: one added without a picture gets the first one 🖼️ Picture would offer for it, and places already on a trip are given theirs when the trip is opened. Saved places show theirs too.
v1.0.2 October 2026
- Hide map works on a computer too: the trip’s list takes the whole width, and 🗺️ Map (or 📍 on any place) brings the map back. Remembered on each device.
- Fixed: choosing another picture in New trip closed it, and lost what you had typed. It now comes back to New trip with your name, dates, budget and the new picture.
- Someday’s About is now just the summary and facts, not the whole article, and shows one website.
v1.0.1 October 2026
- Fixed: a Someday place added without ideas (Paris, say) would not open (“w.ideas.map is not a function”). Ones already added open again.
- About on every Someday place: what Wikipedia says, its picture (shown until you choose one, with Keep this picture), facts from Wikidata (what it is, where, when it was built, who designed it, how tall, visitors, population, area, language, currency, website…) and the article’s sections, like History, to open. Choose the article if it found the wrong one.
- Your own part comes first: What I’d do there and My notes.
v1.0 October 2026
Trips planned day by day on a map, with bookings, a shared budget, packing, Wikivoyage's guides, and a Someday list of places to go one day.
- Trips: each yours, shared with the other to see or to plan together. A cover photo from Wikimedia Commons, one of your own, or a colour.
- Itinerary: days with their places on the map, numbered and coloured by day, with the time each will be and the travel between (walking, transit, cycling or driving). Drag to reorder; ✨ Best order finds the quickest.
- Explore: the place's Wikivoyage guide, with its photos: what to see, do, eat, drink, buy, and where to sleep, its districts, and how to get around. Save anything, or put it on a day. Nearby suggestions by kind.
- Bookings: flights, stays, trains, cars, tables and tickets, with their confirmation numbers; ones found in your email are offered to the trip they fall in. They are on KitPlan's calendar and remind your phone before each.
- Budget: expenses in any currency at the day's rate, who paid and who shares it, by kind and by day, and who owes whom.
- Packing lists, from a starting list or a past trip.
- Someday: places, cities, regions or countries you want to see, each with a photo and a loose list of ideas, some from its Wikivoyage guide. Make one a trip when it is time.

v2.21.2 October 2026
- Undo and redo: Ctrl+Z (⌘Z) undoes, Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y redoes; deleting something offers Undo on its note too (it comes back from Recently deleted). In a text box the usual undo still works.
v2.21.1 October 2026
- Behind the scenes: answers from Deezer, MusicBrainz, Last.fm and Wikidata are read with a size limit.
- Behind the scenes: a small tidy of how the cover cache cleans up after itself.
v2.21 October 2026
- Where they're from. 🌍 Map shows where your artists are from as dots on a world map, like Rate Your Music's, with each place listed by how many artists; tap one for who. The places are MusicBrainz's, found in the background.
v2.20.2 October 2026
- The place you set for Near me is also where the dashboard’s weather is for, until you set one there.
v2.20.1 October 2026
- Fixed: covers chosen from Other covers, or typed in, were slow to load and sometimes showed the album’s name on its card even though the record showed the cover. KitHub now fetches each once and keeps it, and if it cannot, the page tries the cover’s own address before giving up.
v2.20 October 2026
- Going. Mark a show you’re going to, on an artist’s page or in Near me. Only shows you’re going to go on your KitPlan calendar, and they stay there even if Ticketmaster stops listing them. Near me lists yours first, under You’re going.
v2.19 October 2026
- Shows near you by artists in your library appear on your KitPlan calendar (once you have set where you are).
v2.18 October 2026
Share a list, or your whole library to look through, with someone else signed in.
- 👥 Share with… on a list (to see, or to rename and reorder), and ⋯ → Share my library with…. Shared with me… opens what others share with you.
- Someone invited has lists of their own, and sees none of the household’s. Exports are the household’s for now.
v2.17 October 2026
Someone invited by the admin has a library of their own.
- They see only their own library, and you only yours and each other's. "Also in …'s library" only ever names the two of you.
v2.16 October 2026
With KitHub's sign-in, you change only your own library.
- You can still see your partner's library, and copy a record from it into yours; changing or removing theirs is refused.
- Adding a record offers your own library only.
v2.15.3 October 2026
- Albums are a vinyl record now, not a CD, and the Diglist is a 🛍️ bag.
- Fixed: Open on a diglist album said the Deezer id was missing. It opens the album now — yours, or a preview you can add from.
- ✓ Found it on the diglist asks which format you found it on (the last one you picked first), rather than always vinyl.
- On a phone, swipe left or right on an open record to go to the next or previous one, as ← → do on a computer.
v2.15.2 October 2026
- Fixed: the 10% larger record on a phone, from the last release, broke the layout there. A phone shows a record at its usual size again; a computer keeps the 20%.
v2.15.1 October 2026
- On a phone, an open record now reads 10% larger too (20% on a computer since the last release).
v2.15 October 2026
Your reviews, at a glance.
- 📝 beside the stars on an album or song you have written a review of, in the grid, the list and on a list’s rows.
- Filter by My review: Written, or Not written. On a share link it is there only when the link shows reviews.
- On a computer, an open record reads 20% larger: its text, buttons and pictures, and nothing else on the page. A phone is unchanged.
v2.14.1 October 2026
- Fixed: a tag you added to a record looked saved, then was gone the next time you opened it, leaving only the tags it came with. It was saved all along; opening the record drew the stock tags back over it. The same went for an edited title, cover, genres or write-up, and for Refresh data and relinking a record. What you edit now stays.
v2.14 October 2026
Tags first.
- On a record, Tags now sit above My review, next to the genres.
v2.13.2 October 2026
- Fixed: a list that is not ranked showed small grey numbers beside its records. It shows none now, yours or shared; with Reorder on, the position boxes still say where each one sits.
- Fixed: going from a list back to your library showed the list’s rows squeezed into the library’s grid for a second or two. They clear at once now, with a spinner while the library loads; the same going into a list.
- Fixed: leaving a list before it had finished loading could draw it over the library when it arrived.
v2.13.1 October 2026
- Fixed: on a list, yours or shared, choosing a sort turned it into the grid or the plain rows, without its notes. A list now always shows as the list, with its notes and ranks, in whatever order is chosen, and has no grid / list switch.
- A list opens in the order you last sorted it by, for you and for whoever opens its share link. List order is its own order; a visitor can sort it for themselves without changing it.
- Reordering is in List order only: under another sort, Reorder is set aside until you go back to it, so a drag cannot shuffle the list by the wrong order.
- Fixed: a shared list ignored its sort and filters; the order came back the same. Both now work there as on your own list.
- On a list, the sort’s first choice reads List order, which is what it is, not Recently added.
v2.13 October 2026
Release years, the lists an album is on, and links that open.
- Filter by release years: under Decade, from one year to another, or leave either end open. A range replaces the decade chips, and a decade chip the range.
- Which lists an album is on, in small text beside 📋 Add to list, with its place on a ranked list. Tap a name to open the list.
- Linked albums open: one you have opens as your record, one you don’t as a preview you can add from. They stopped at “deezer_id required” before.
- On a share link, albums linked in its notes open read only, and so do list rows the owner never added, which did nothing when tapped.
- Fixed: the / album picker in a list’s note was covered by the next row. It now sits above everything, under the box, or above it near the bottom of the screen.
v2.12 October 2026
A diglist for record shopping, and / links.
- 💿 Dig: artists and the albums you want, filed as the bins are, compact for a phone. Add an artist and their albums you do not own come with them; Found it marks one owned on vinyl. Your own, and each other’s to look at. Kept on your phone for shops with no signal.
- / links in reviews and list notes: type / and an album’s name to link it.
v2.11 October 2026
Headers in your lists.
- + Header on a list breaks it into sections: a heading and optional text, above whichever position you choose. Drag it like a record, edit or remove it; it shows on shared links and goes with the list in an export.
- On a phone, the Lists button is just 📋.
v2.10 October 2026
Remaster tags come off titles.
- “(Remastered 2009)”, “[2004 Remaster]” and “- 2017 Remaster” are taken off a title when a record is added and every time it is refreshed, and from what is already in your library.
- Deluxe Edition, Live, Mono and other edition names stay: those are different records.
v2.9.1 September 2026
- The export now carries the music finder’s saved searches and hidden suggestions, and importing puts them back.
- A fault while the finder looks things up can no longer stop KitHub.
v2.9 September 2026
- Fixed: reopening + Add, or switching to Artists (or Songs) while a search was still on its way, could show the last search’s results, the “Nothing on Deezer” line and its MusicBrainz section, and even start that MusicBrainz search again. Only the newest search now shows, and + Add opens clean.
v2.8 September 2026
Find a title within an artist.
- Find a title within an artist: the artist’s page has a box that narrows their albums, EPs and singles as you type, by any words of the title, whatever the case, accents or punctuation (“cafe edition” finds “Café Édition”). It works with the kind chips and In library only; Escape clears it, and each artist starts with everything shown.
v2.7 September 2026
Add from a MusicBrainz artist, and your own cover on the record itself.
- A MusicBrainz artist: paste an artist’s MusicBrainz link, or their id, into the search to list their albums and EPs from there, oldest first, to add from.
- Fixed: a cover chosen with Choose another cover (or typed into Edit) showed on the library card but not on the record itself, which kept the stock one. The record, and the larger view when you tap the cover, now show yours; the other person keeps theirs.
v2.6 September 2026
Add albums that are not on Deezer, from MusicBrainz.
- Albums Deezer does not have, from MusicBrainz. When Deezer finds nothing for an album search, KitTunes looks on MusicBrainz by itself; otherwise Not here? Search MusicBrainz is under the results. An artist’s name lists their albums and EPs, oldest first, then albums of that title.
- Paste a MusicBrainz link (or just its id) into the search to find that album exactly.
- Added, it is a full record: tracks and discs, the date, label, catalogue number, country, credits, genres, and its cover from the Cover Art Archive, from the album’s official pressing. Refresh updates it from MusicBrainz, never from whatever Deezer has by that name, and Last.fm adds its tags and summary as for any record.
v2.5 September 2026
Choose another cover from the album’s other editions.
- Choose another cover, in Edit: the album’s other editions on Deezer (a deluxe, a remaster), and every pressing on MusicBrainz with a front cover in the Cover Art Archive, each labelled with what makes it that one (“1971 · US · 12″ Vinyl”). Choosing one puts it in the cover box, and Save keeps it as your own: a refresh never replaces it, the other person keeps theirs, and Original puts the first one back.
- If Deezer or MusicBrainz cannot be reached, the other’s covers still come, with a note. A song is offered its album’s covers.
- 🎲 From In rotation: the random pick can now choose from what you have in rotation.
v2.4 September 2026
- Recently deleted: albums, songs and lists you delete waits 14 days in KitHub’s new Recently deleted tab, with its photos, notes and places in lists, and Put back returns it where it was.
- Customize tabs in the ⋯ menu: put Albums, Songs and Artists in your order and hide the ones you don’t use. It opens on your first one.
- One theme everywhere: with it switched on in KitHub, this app follows KitHub’s theme, unless you choose one of its own here.
v2.3 September 2026
- A list can be linked from a person in KitDB (Watch & listen together), and opens from there.
v2.2.1 September 2026
- The sort you chose is kept after a reload: the library and finder sorts, on each device. Leaving a list now puts the library’s sort back; before, the list’s order was left behind. A sort chosen inside a list stays with that visit.
v2.2 September 2026
A finder for music you don’t know yet.
- 🧭 Find in the toolbar, and 🧭 More like this on every record and More like them on every artist’s page.
- More like… up to six artists or albums. Deezer’s related artists and Last.fm’s similar artists are combined, so an artist near several of them comes first.
- Sound: genre, style and mood tags, each tapped once to want and twice to avoid, all or any of them, and any other tag by name.
- Era by decade or years, albums, EPs or singles, and live albums, compilations and remixes left out unless wanted.
- How well known: well known, balanced or deep cuts. Only artists new to me for discovery rather than more of the same.
- Each suggestion shows how well it fits, why it was picked, and whether the artist is new to you. + Want to listen adds it; ✕ means not interested, and it is not suggested again.
- Saved searches for the household, one-tap starts from your favourites, and 🎲 Surprise me.
- From Deezer, MusicBrainz and Last.fm; no new keys. Works without Last.fm, with fewer signals.
v2.1.0 September 2026
New and upcoming records by the artists you follow and own.
- 🆕 Releases on the Artists tab: what the artists on your list have put out in the last 30 days, newest first, and what they have announced, soonest first. Everyone on your list or Following only.
- From Deezer, which can be previewed and added, and MusicBrainz, where an announced album usually appears first, often with only a month or a year. A record both know is one row. One only MusicBrainz knows is marked Announced and opens the artist.
- The right MusicBrainz artist is taken from an album of theirs in the library that MusicBrainz already identified, so a band sharing a name with another never borrows its records. Without one, only an exact, confident name match counts.
- Checked once a day for everyone on either list, in the background; ↻ Check again asks now. No new keys.
- Tour dates and releases kept for artists no longer on anyone’s list are forgotten after a month.
v2.0.0 September 2026
The artists behind the records, where they are playing, and lists that are not limited to what you own.
Artists
- An Artists tab beside Albums and Songs: every artist with an album or a song in the library, worked out from the library each time. A new record puts its artist there, and removing the last one takes them off. It counts main artists only, not featured ones, and a record added by hand joins the artist of the same name.
- Follow an artist with nothing in the library, from their page or with + Follow beside them in the search.
- Hide an artist to keep them off the tab, however many of their records are added. 👁 Hidden artists… in the menu lists them, with Unhide. One with nothing in the library can be deleted there too, and comes back as new if an album or a song by them is added.
- A note on every artist, on their page between the release count and the tags. In Both, the other person’s shows beneath.
- Follows, hides and notes are each person’s own; Both shows everyone’s artists. Cards show what you have by them and their next show. The tab can be narrowed to In library, Following or On tour, sorted by name, most records, recently added or next show, and searched by name or note.
- An artist known only from records added by hand now has a page: KitTunes looks for them on Deezer by exact name, where before their name led nowhere.
Tours
- Tour dates on every artist’s page, from Ticketmaster: date, venue, distance from you and a ticket link, with the ones near you marked.
- 📍 Near me: every show within 25, 50, 100 or 250 miles by anyone on your list, soonest first. Set where you are with the phone’s location or a ZIP code, per person.
- Dates are checked once a day for everyone on either list, and when a page is opened if they are older, within Ticketmaster’s free allowance. Artists are matched by exact name, so a tribute act never borrows the band’s dates, and VIP-package listings are not counted as extra shows.
- Needs a free Ticketmaster key on the server (
KITHUB_TUNES_TICKETMASTER_KEY). Without it, everything but the dates works.
Ratings and lists
- ★ Pull MusicBrainz ratings… in the menu asks for every album without a rating, in the background, rather than one at a time as each is opened. Once all are asked, it offers to ask again for all of them.
- Lists can take anything: + Add records on a list searches every album and song on Deezer as well as the library. A record from there goes on the list without going into anyone’s library, and is forgotten if it leaves its last list with nobody having added it.
Fixed and tidied
- Adding to a list from the library showed a record the two of you share twice, and still offered Add for a record already on the list through the other person’s copy.
- A list record in nobody’s library no longer shows an empty status badge, and select-several says so rather than selecting nothing.
- The Both button said “Records you both have” and its empty page spoke of overlap; Both is everything either of you has.
- Escape now closes the add-to-the-open-list and quick-edit windows too.
- The background-task toast names the task and says how many failed.
- Export includes follows, hides, notes and each person’s location, and a restore brings them back.
v1.6.1 September 2026
- A MusicBrainz rating in place of Deezer’s fans: the community’s score out of 5 for the album as a whole, with how many voted, beside Last.fm’s listeners and plays. It shows once at least 3 people have voted, so one person’s opinion is never the album’s score.
- It comes with the rest of MusicBrainz when a record is added or refreshed, and is kept if MusicBrainz cannot be reached at the time. A record added before this version gets it the next time it is opened.
- The library can be sorted by it: rated albums first, best first.
v1.6.0 September 2026
- An artist’s page can be narrowed to albums, EPs, singles or compilations, each with its count and only if the artist has any, beside All and Top songs. It opens on All.
- Fixed: tapping the artist on a record opened from the search put the artist’s page behind the record. The record now closes first, so the artist’s page is in front.
- A release’s tag reads EP and Compilation, not Ep and Compile, and a single says 1 track.
- No more flicker in the library when a record’s status changes or one is added; see KitHub v4.6.1.
v1.5.1 September 2026
- Links from KitDB open here. Tapping a record linked in a KitDB note opens this app on it, switching to the library that has it.
v1.5 September 2026
- ? Help at the bottom of the menu the name opens: what every part of KitTunes does, on a phone and on a computer, with what is new at the top.
- A new home-screen icon, drawn to match its dock button, and a complete app manifest, so installing it gives it a window and an icon of its own — including in Vivaldi on Linux.
v1.4 September 2026
- Previews play again. Deezer’s preview links expire, and KitTunes kept the ones it was given when a record was added, so on most albums older than a day or so the clips failed. A preview that fails now fetches a fresh link and tries again once.
- The owned mark is a vinyl record for a physical copy and a floppy disk when every copy is digital.
- The owned filter can show Physically or Digitally owned as well as owned at all.
v1.3 September 2026
- Much faster to preview and add. Opening a search result, adding a record and opening a recommendation used to wait on the whole “You might also like” row, looked up one artist at a time. The row is now built in parallel, remembered for a few hours, and only when it is shown; the record appears first and the row fills in.
- The first open of a newly added record no longer waits on MusicBrainz for the label and credits. They arrive a few seconds later and the page fills them in.
- Search results match KitFlicks: tap a row to look at it, or Add to add it. The separate Look button is gone, in the artist discography too.
- Recommendations open in KitTunes — the record if it is in the library, a preview if not — and each has a + Add button.
v1.2.1 September 2026
- Fixed: v1.2 would not start against an existing database. The new index over
locationwas in the schema block, which runs before the migration that adds the column — so the schema failed, KitTunes never mounted, and the whole process exited. Indexes over migrated columns now run after the migrations.
v1.2 September 2026
The shelf, and lists that behave like lists.
Physical copies
- A location on anything you own, with autocomplete over the shelves already in use — the same field KitBooks has. Setting one marks the record owned; un-owning clears it.
- Physical library mode (📦 in the toolbar): only what you own, grouped by where it lives. Every other filter still applies — it is a lens on the library, not a separate screen. Owned records with no location set get their own heading rather than being quietly dropped.
- Want to own sits next to Owned and disappears the moment a copy is on the shelf. Owning something and wanting to own it cannot both be true.
- Bulk Set location for shelving a stack in one go.
Lists
- A Lists button in the header, opening a proper page rather than a dialog buried in the ⋯ menu.
- Reorder is a toggle. Off by default, so a stray drag cannot silently reshuffle a long list. Turning it on adds drag handles and a position box — type 12 and the row goes to 12, which beats dragging once a list is past a screenful.
- List rows show genres and tags.
- No heart on list rows. A list is already a statement of preference; a second one beside it says nothing extra.
- The note box grows as you type instead of scrolling inside itself.
Elsewhere
- Both is now the combined shelf, not the overlap — every record either of you has, once each. KitFlicks reads Both the other way because "what can we watch together" is a real question; "what do we both own a copy of" is not.
- Add defaults to Listened. Most records you add are ones you already know.
- The played date is no longer guessed. Marking something listened says you have heard it, not that you heard it today — often it is a record you have known for twenty years.
- Add your own tags from the record itself, the way custom owned formats already worked.
- The heart moved to the bottom right of the sleeve and now sits on the artwork rather than on top of the artist and year beneath it.
v1.1 September 2026
- Rain animation on the Rainy Day theme, the same one the other Kit apps have. It appears with the theme and can be switched off from the menu; reduced-motion settings turn it off regardless.
- RateYourMusic link on every record. RYM has no public API and its release URLs are slugs that cannot be reconstructed reliably, so this is a search pre-filled with the artist and title — one click from the page, every time, rather than a direct link that 404s on reissues.
- Ethan is the default person here, and first on the toggle.
- The rain declines to run rather than throwing when a browser gives no 2D canvas context. It used to take the theme menu down with it.
v1.0.1 September 2026
The rain animation, matching the other Kit apps.
- Rainy Day now rains. Off automatically when the system asks for reduced motion, and switchable from the theme menu, exactly as elsewhere.
v1 September 2026
First release. The household music library, built as a sibling to KitFlicks and sharing its shape: two people, one catalogue, per-person opinions on top of shared records.
The library
- Albums and songs are separate libraries behind one toggle, the way films and TV are in KitFlicks. A song records the album it came from without dragging the album in with it.
- Four statuses: Want to listen · In rotation · Listened · Dropped. "In rotation" is deliberately not "listening" — an album is something you live with for a while, not something you finish once.
- Half-star ratings from 0.5 to 5, clicking the current value to clear it.
- A heart on every record, shown on the artwork and filterable on its own. Rating and favouriting are different questions: the best record you own is not always the one you reach for.
- Owned with a format pill — Vinyl, CD, Cassette, Digital, or anything you type in.
- Per-track ratings and hearts on albums, rolling up as "7/12 rated" on the card. The tracklist analogue of KitFlicks' per-season panel, kept smaller on purpose: a rating and a heart, no review and no date, because that is how a tracklist actually gets annotated.
- Per-person edits to title, cover, genres, tags and notes, held as overrides so a refresh never overwrites them.
- Grid and list views, the Serengeti · Ethan · Both toggle, bulk select, random pick, six themes, stats.
Ranked lists
- Lists are ordered and numbered, with drag to reorder. The rank is a column, not a bullet.
- Every entry carries its own note — the reason it sits where it sits. A list-level description cannot do that job, and it is the whole point of a top ten.
- Ranked is per list. An unranked list is still ordered and still reorderable, it just drops the numbers — right for "records to try", wrong for "best of 1997".
- Removing an entry resequences the rest, so the numbering never reads 1, 2, 4, 5.
- Filtering a list keeps the original ranks. Number four stays number four; renumbering the survivors would be a lie.
- Lists can mix albums and songs, and each can be shared on its own with ranks and notes intact.
Where the data comes from
- Deezer for search, covers, tracklists and 30-second previews. No key needed — it is the last major catalogue with an open API.
- Last.fm for genre tags, listener counts, a paragraph of context and similar artists. Needs a free key; without one the app still works, the tag chips are just thinner.
- MusicBrainz for the label, catalogue number, country of pressing and the personnel. No key, but one request per second, so it runs when a record is first opened rather than when it is added.
- Where to listen tries Odesli for exact cross-service links and falls back to search URLs for Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal and Bandcamp. Odesli has announced the retirement of the only documented version of its API, so the panel is built to degrade rather than break; filled dots are the record itself, hollow ones are a search.
Sharing
- Per-person read-only links, scoped server-side. Reviews, played dates, owned and favourites are each opt-in, and every combination gets its own link that can be disabled or regenerated.
- The other person's entries are never visible through a link, whatever the flags say. A link is one person's library.
- Shared list links additionally choose whose ratings they show, because a list belongs to the household rather than to a person.
Backup
- JSON export is a complete, restorable snapshot: records, both people's entries, every per-track mark, and every list with its order and notes.
- Import is additive and idempotent — records already present are updated rather than duplicated, so running it twice is harmless and it can merge as well as restore.
- CSV export is for reading in a spreadsheet, not for restoring.
